I leased this vehicle on may 17, 2024, expecting it to function as intended. Instead, within months, it suffered recurring and escalating failures that have rendered it unsafe and unusable. January 7, 2025, I brought the truck to gates GMC for routine service and reported that it had lunged forward by approximately 2 to 2. 5 feet while shifting into park. Additionally, it exhibited irregular acceleration and rough down shifting in lower gears. I also communicated the check engine light has come on and gone off on the dashboard over the past week a few times without receiving any information on the app. At this January 7th visit, gm performed recall n242435631, supposedly addressing a known battery drain defect that caused total vehicle shutdowns. On January 24, 2025, I started the truck and was immediately overwhelmed by an intense chemical odor coming through the ventilation system. January 31 – February 1, 2025 – erratic engine warning lights & diagnostic failures on January 31, 2025, at 5:28 pm, on this key cycle the check engine light illuminated but failed to register in the gm app. On the next key cycle, the warning disappeared. The following morning, February 1, 2025, at 10:26 am, the check engine light appeared on the first key cycle before disappearing on the second key cycle. The onboard diagnostics system failed to log or retain these warnings. On February 7, 2025, the vehicle suffered a complete electrical failure. No electronic function whatsoever. Roadside assistance attempted to jump-start the truck using a high-powered jump pack, but it remained inoperable. A Ford super duty and jump pack were needed to force start the truck. February 10, 2025 the truck suffered another total electrical failure and required towing to gates GMC. The app indicated the brake system, anti-lock braking system, emissions system (specifically the exhaust system), and power train requiring service. My truck is at gates GMC and was drawing 90 milliamps opposed to 40.

The vehicle will be in the park position and a warning on the dash will say shift to park not allowing you to shut off the vehicle. Jiggling the shifter sometimes works but often have to restart the vehicle numerous times to get the error message to not appear and be able to proceed with shutting off the vehicle.

Experienced loss of power and inability to maintain highway speeds. The transmission shifted violently and rpms went as high as 3500. Was able to move off the highway but cars behind us had to Dodge us when it failed. There was warning message on the dash and a cel. The truck threw two codes p0700, p0747. I was able to limp to a dealer 5 miles away. This is a known TSB with gm. There is a solenoid failure in the transmission. There is 30-90 day backorder on parts as the failure is so prevalent.
2024 GMC sierra denali ultimate 3500hd equipped with duramax lp5 and allison 10 speed transmission mission. Towing cargo trailer Thursday November 21 up 4 degree incline transmission let loose banged and popped slammed to a stop almost causing accident and went to limp mode. Took to dealership in show low arizona. Was told this is common problem and it’s the valve body assembly and parts are 60-90 days out. Mind you this truck was ordered from factory and received in March of 2024. The truck has 21k miles. So now a vehicle I bought specifically for business to haul a spray trailer will be down 2-3 months with no loaner to use to operate our business.

I was driving on the interstate and had just exited to refuel. As I was re-entering traffic, I accelerated to merge, and suddenly, as I was about to pull in, I felt and heard a massive metallic crash, like the entire transmission had dropped. The engine sounded abnormal, and immediately, the dashboard flashed a warning: 'engine power is reduced. ' the check engine light came on, and I got messages saying the transmission needed service and to schedule an appointment. I called my dealership and took it in as soon as possible. After they held the truck for a while, the service manager told me a critical part was on indefinite backorder with no fulfillment date. He handed back my keys, saying they'd reach out when it arrived. I asked if it was safe to drive, and he said yes. Later, driving from illinois to California, my truck malfunctioned again. This time, in heavy, 12-lane traffic, the same loud crash threw me forward, almost slamming my face into the steering wheel. My wrists and shoulders hurt from bracing myself, and my right shoulder still aches. Again, I got the 'engine power reduced' warning and transmission service notice. Each time, this has put me and those around me in severe danger.

The transmission valve body assembly was replaced and the failure was remedied. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 18,334.
While driving down the highway pulling a trailer the truck started to slow down rapidly. We were able to pull to the side of the road before the truck came to a complete stop on its own. From that point forward, we could not get the truck to move forward even in 4wd. Ended up towing the truck back and a repair shop determined the transmission needed replaced. About 4 months later, we received notice of a recall describing a similar scenario. I submitted the invoice and documentation to gm, but my claim was denied because the codes and symptoms did not match the criteria for the recall.
The transmission started lurching and surging power while driving.
I was hauling a load and felt a hard jolt near the transmission. The pickup went into limp mode and would not let me accelerate above 45 mph. Took it to a dealership and was told the valve body had malfunctioned. I have been without a vehicle for over 40 days due to the part being back ordered.

On July 5, 2024 while traveling and towing our 5th wheel (7,200lbs) with our 2017 GMC 2500 6. 0l gas engine (with the 6l90 transmission) and without any previous warnings or signals the check engine light illuminated and approximately 10 mins later the vehicle went into limp mode with "transmission hot. . . . . Idle engine" warning, causing us to lose power of the vehicle. We coasted over to the side of a 2 lane road with no shoulder and stopped the vehicle to let it cool down. This happened several times leaving us stranded in places that were not safe to allow the transmission to cool because we had no other choice since we were on country roads with no pullouts. At this point, we were just trying to get to the closest safest place to disconnect the trailer, so we could have the vehicle looked at by the GMC dealer. The closest place was an RV park approxiamately 20 miles away, so we limped there and disconnected from the trailer. Our safety and the safety of other drivers was a huge issue since there was nowhere we could pull over where we would be out of danger. We had no warning that our transmission was bad up until this point. The dealer inspected the vehicle and confirmed on July 8, 2024, that the vehicles transmission failed and needs to be replaced. We serviced our vehicle religiously and had the transmission flushed/changed at 49,944 miles. The failure of the this transmission occurred at approximately 54,000 miles. We were stuck and without our vehicle for 7 days while we waited for the GMC dealer to replace our transmission. There are plenty of problems with the GMC/Chevrolet 6l90 transmissions and unfortunately, we fell victim to this problem. GMC should be held accountable for issuing a recall as we could have easily caused an accident and serious damage to ourselves as well as others. This transmission is failing causing it to be is unsafe.

The valve body inside the transmission has failed and gm has known it to fail but they have done nothing about it. My vehicle has been in the shop for 2 months because of it and “parts are on back order” it’s terrible I’ve bought this vehicle in August and it’s constantly been inside the shop for various issues. My transmission lost 7th gear and it came to an immediate stop in the road because of it. Tires screeching and all. Truly embarrassing that you can spend 83,000$ on a truck and it be such a peice of junk.
The contact owns a 2023 GMC Sierra 2500. The contact stated while driving 45 mph, the vehicle was losing motive power. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal; however, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact stated that the engine was revving abnormally. The contact stated that the check engine and an unknown "orange colored" warning light illuminated. The contact pulled over and turned the vehicle off and was afraid to restart the vehicle. The contact had the vehicle towed to a local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that a valve in the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 25,000.
The truck is a 2015 GMC Sierra 2500 hd. With less than 51,000 miles, the transmission is gone due to a design flaw. Around March 8th, the transmission went out when I hydroplanned on a two lane road. Haley GMC airport was wanting $6700 for a new transmission. I contacted GMC and they offered a 15% discount after raising the price to over $7500. GMC has replaced and volunteered recall on their 2015 1500 and 2015 2500 8 speed transmissions but will not do anything about the 2015 2500 6 speed transmission. The transmission where I received a second opinion advised that they changed the transmission on the 2015 after realizing there was a design flaw. I feel that myself and many others whose transmissions died before 100,000 due to GMC design should not pay full price for a new transmission. If this is not the correct channel, please let me know. Thank you.

Transmission and transfer case leaking. Masters cylinder ( brake booster) leaking.
2023 GMC sierra duramax diesel with 10 speed allison transmission with 28,000 miles can't be driven. Currently at the dealership due to a transmission valve body problem, codes p0700 & p0747. While driving I felt a hard shift and the truck jerk. The engine light came on and my truck went into low power mode. Let it sit over night and truck would shift fine. This happened 3 times over a 1 month period. After getting to the chevy dealer they told me the issue is with he valve body and said they have been having multiple trucks come in with the same problem. They have a truck in there since may (4 months!) they told me there is no eta for the part. I've read this is a common issue happening on 2023 & 2024 trucks like mine. I've read that the problems have been going on for over 1 year. This is ridiculous for a $90,000. 00 truck. Gm should be putting new transmissions in them or buying the trucks back. I'm considering contacting an attorney to inquire about the lemon law or what other avenues I can take regarding getting the truck fixed, and fixed properly.
When vehicle is warm and shut off, upon restart it will not go in to any gear, there was no warning lamps. An independent repair facility determined the transmission control module was defective. General motors has no parts available, and I know fro a fact it is a rather large issue.

The column shifter that is installed on all 2024 GMC Sierra 2500hds and 3500hds poses a potential safety risk to its passengers and other drivers on the road. When the column shifter of the vehicle is in the standard drive position the shifter covers part of the screen and the direct path to the radio volume control dial and infotainment home button. It has been found and replicated that attempting to interact with the infotainment screen ui and the home button/volume control dial the driver may easily accidentally bump the shifter into the neutral position. Bumping this 8000lbs+ vehicle into neutral unintentionally can be extremely dangerous to its passengers and fellow motorists especially when hauling a heavy trailer or load like heavy-duty pickup trucks are designed to do. Bumping the truck into neutral can allow the truck to lose its acceleration capabilities and degrade braking capabilities as the engine would be disconnected from the drive wheels, limiting engine braking and exhaust braking. This kind of braking is commonly used to help stop the truck with heavy trailers and loads. This problem has been commonly referred to in multiple facebook groups relating to the 2024 GMC heavy duty truck. I personally have not had it inspected by any third party as there is not much they can do to remedy the issue. I personally recommend that general motors redesign the column shifter in these trucks shortening it to come no further than the diameter of the steering wheel eliminating any interference with the infotainment system and the home button/volume dial. Gm shall replace this updated shifter free of charge in all trucks just recently built. For gm's sake, it is important that this issue is remedied ASAP as the truck just began production and there is a limited amount on the road. This is available for inspection upon request.
The owns a 2021 GMC Sierra 2500. The contact stated while driving 70 mph, the rpm revved up to 6,000 rpm. Additionally, the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who informed the contact that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 47,000. The VIN was not available.
I am having a issue with a low milage GMC sierra. The truck is a 2015 with 24,000 miles. When it was produced the truck had a 100,000 mile warranty but has since lasped in time. The transmission on this truck is a 6l90 which has had several know issues that gm is aware of. This service bulletin is just highlight of the issue gm bulletin 19-na-153. I've talked with several transmission shops and event saw a few posted online about the transmission issue, my issue is gm will not stand behind their product, I have contacted gm directly and gotten no where. During my conversation with the gm reps on the phone they did agree the transmission should not have blown at the milage. My truck is garage kept, doesn't go outside in the rain or snow. I know there is a class action for the allison transmission and the 8 speed but not the 6 speed that I'm aware of.
Transmission control module failed.

Transmission control module put my truck in limp mode while drinking down the highway.
On November 14th, while commuting home from work, my transmission failed while I was stopped at a red light. After the light turned green, my car would not move when I pushed my foot on the gas. The engine would rev up but nothing would happen. I turned off the engine and re-started several times but the car would never move. I eventually gave up and turned over my emergency blinkers and started calling tow trucks. I was stuck in the center lane of a 4-lane road road at a very busy interstate interchange during rush hour. These were incredibly unsafe conditions as the location of my vehicle almost caused several accidents. It took over 3 hours for a tow truck to show up, move my vehicle from the busy road, and tow it to the local dealer. After investigating, the dealer said the transmission pump blew apart of sent metal throughout the transmission and caused it to be inoperable. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms prior to this occurrence.
As I was backing into my parking spot I heard a bag then the engine light came on, after that it wasn’t shifting correctly, had it checked out and was told the transmission has to be replaced the mechanic said that this transmission is known to be defective it’s only a 2016 I feel there should be a recall could have been a disaster on the road.

We were at a restaurant with friends we got back into the vehicle. I started up the vehicle and several electrical things happened. The service trailer brakes message came up, then the service power steering message came on. The engine was running but the tachometer didn’t work, or the oil pressure gauge. A couple other warning lights on the dash were on and stayed on. When I put it in reverse it wouldn’t move. When I put it in drive it would move forward. So we were stuck in our parking spot. We decided to put it in neutral and two of us pushed the truck out of the space into a busy street in hopes of getting home. Luckily none of us or the truck was hit by the people driving on the roadway. I put the transmission in drive and it would go into gear but not not shift out of first gear. The speedometer was not working either. We drove a few 100 feet in hopes that it would shift into a higher gear and it would not. We were able to find a safe place to pull off the highway and parked it. Turned the truck off, waited several minutes and tried it again. Still the same so we were stranded there. Left it there and called an uber driver to come out and pick us all up. I called for a towing service to pick the truck up the next morning. When I arrived the following morning to meet the tow truck I got in and started it up. Other than the check engine light being on the truck seemed fine. I still had it towed to the dealership to be on the safe side. It was there 6 days and today I picked it up. They couldn’t find anything wrong. In the description of service and parts it states “scanned found long list of codes, most of codes are lost communication with engine control module, followed some TSB for possible issues, no results”. Also, “cleared codes and test drove vehicle, have not been able to duplicate concern at this time”. So I now have a vehicle that I can’t trust and hope our safety will not be in jeopardy in the future.
Wife and daughter took the pickup to town. While returning home wife noticed a noise from the front end. She slowed down to turn and the whole tire with rotor came off the pickup causing the brake line to get ripped off and stating a fire. Damaged the running board and rocker panel along with the cv axle and other numerous parts.
