Traveling about 70 mph on interstate 85 northbound in GA just before exit 64 union city. Far left fast lane. Sudden rear tire explosion. No load being hauled 65 psi air pressure in tire. Able to remain in control and work my way over to right side emergency lane. Changed to spare tire only damaged rim when truck fell and rolled over carcass a few times. Did not strike any object and tire had no physical damage seen before its blowout.

While driving the tire tread separated completely from the tire causing moderate body damage to vehicle. Tire is a tempra trailcutter radial rt size lt 305/70r16. A online search of this tire revealed a recall was issued on the same tire but one size smaller by on 03-14-06. Treaways recall # 06t008000 for tires manufactured between 02-01-04 to 01-21-06. My tire shows a manufactured date of 4605 ( meaning the 46th week of the year 2005 ). Vehicle had to be towed and spare tire used. Body damaged will have to be repaired. I still have the tire and separated tread for inspection.
