One problem related to power assist brake has been reported for the 1996 GMC Sonoma. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Brake booster failed. This failure causes unpredictable braking and greatly increases stopping distances. Dealer would not repair under warranty or under "goodwill" assist. This is premature failure of a major safety component.
