Air Bag Problems of GMC Sonoma

The contact owned a 1999 GMC Sonoma. While driving 5 mph on a flooded road, the contact crashed into a ditch. After the crash, the vehicle came to a complete stop. The air bag deployment was delayed. The contact sustained a cracked pelvis, broken facial bones, optic nerve damage, and other severe injuries to the face. Medical attention was required. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The VIN was not included in any recalls. The vehicle was destroyed and towed. The local dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.

The contact owns a 1998 GMC Sonoma. While driving 50 mph, the air bags deployed without warning or impact. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to the contact's home. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 264,477.

Driver was going approx. 40mph down the rural highway in heavy rain and the truck in front of her came to a stop. By the time the driver of the Sonoma saw the truck it was too late to stop and not hit the stopped vehicle. The driver of the Sonoma hit the stopped truck and totaled the Sonoma. At no point did the driver airbag deploy.

Passenger seat does not lock into place. Passengers seat slide forward and backward , and air back light stayed on , left turn signal light and brake don't come on.

Our GMC Sonoma was hit head on, both vehicles driving approximately 40-45 mph. The Sonoma had extensive front end damage, broken glass, the roof buckled (not a roll over) drivers side floor protruded into vehicle, console exploded into vehicle,impact great enough to shatter side windows and broken windshield ,front axle broken, frame showed 4-6" gap between cab & bed . . . . . . . No airbags deployed. How many other families feel secure with knowing their vehicle has airbags?.

While traveling at 65 mph the consumers vehicle was rear ended by another driver who was also traveling at 65. Consumer stated that none of the vehicles air bags deployed. Please provide any further information.

Consumer was in an accident in which he hit a tree and the air bag experienced no deployment, consumer purchased vehicle due to it being equipped with the air bag and having a doctor's excuse not to wear a seat belt for physical reasons.
