Cruise Control Problems of GMC Sonoma

The contact states while driving the cruise control activated. He was unable to deactivate it. The vehicle was put in neutral and turned off. The contact was waiting for the tow truck to arrive and take the vehicle to the dealership.

We have had numerous problems with this vehicle sine one month after purchase including the idle sticking/interior moulding cracking/transmission rebuilt/computer replaced due to failure engine check light indicator light does not turn off, and right side brake does not seem to wear properly. . My husband is able to recall more.

This truck is a safety hazard in the summer to drive. It will without warning in hot weather, failed to accellerate. As the pedal is pushed further to the floor the engine will lose rpm. It will run at an idle and die if accelerator is pushed all the way to the floor. It only does it in warm weather and if allowed to stabilize at an idle can sometimes be driven away. It has done this with passengers in the vehicle and is unsafe. Gm has refused to replace parts and I have been told by the vendor that provides the 1-800 line sevice that no parts will be replaced until it logs a code. It does not log a code so I am unable to prove this condition exists. I am not happy and gm is not inclined to take care of the problem. This truck is a lemon and needs to be taken care of. The dealer is ignorant and needs to be shut down. I am not impressed with the gm approach to repair. Ignore a pissed off customer and he will go away. When this truck kills someone it will be to late.

Cruise control failed.

When engine idles high, vehicle will not decellerate when gas pedal is released; also intermittent stalling.

When vehicle is in or out of gear engine idles, rpm will flucuate between 1600-3000 intermittently. Dealer ehas replaced idle motor, throttle positioner, new computer , and new software for computer. After several attempts to correct defect, dealer is claiming it is normal.

Vehicle does not idle down when you release the clutch or release the gas pedal while driving. Mjs.

On several occasions while driving with cruise control on, vehicle went from 70 mph to 40mph. Abs light illuminated, and brakes locked up. Dealer replaced abs module.

Cruise control malfunction. Yh.
