On our 1998 GMC Sonoma we have replaced the windshield wiper motor and board. The wipers still have a ghost in them and delay does not work most of the time and high speed when on low speed, erratic behavior on wipers. Won't turn on or off on occasion. Was there a recall on also on the passenger seat? the lever broke right off the first time we used it. Cheaply built handles. Please send me a list of recalls on this vehicle please for our own safety as this vehicle is driven daily on open highways.

Passenger and driver seats in my 2000 GMC Sonoma have seat positioning controls and locking mechanisims that do not always lock properly and/or get jammed up and have broken. A friend was sitting in the passenger seat and it failed to lock into place to keep it from sliding forward. I adjusted the bolts that fasten the seat to the floor of the vehicle to help 'realign' the seat frame so that the mechanism that keeps the seat from siding front and back would keep the seat locked into position once the seating distance is set. Also, the reclining handle on the passenger side broke off, not allowing for seat back support angle adjustment on the passenger side. The driver's side seat back support adjustment lever often 'sticks' or 'locks' into position. . . . Not allowing for seat back rest adjustment. Rear differential sometimes locks up and or slips and shakes and makes noise. . . Especially when sideways force is applied. . . Such as when turning in a curve or circular fashion with the vehicle in motion. Both tailgate support cables broke on the truck. Front driver's side bearing had excess wear and had to be replaced at 65 000 km. Driver's side wiper arm got dislodged from the shaft that turns it and was knocked out of position on 2 occasions. Power steering fails for short intermittent periods when the vehicle is first started from a 'cold' and 'warm' state and the steering becomes stiffer and less responsive. Most noticable at slower vehicle speeds.
Interior components break easily: driver's recliner handle sheared off, driver's visor hinge snapped, windshield defrost grille fractured.
The contact stated the seat frame will slide backward. He believed the locking mechanism broke. The repairs have not been done.

Driver and passenger seat reclining levers broken. Third door handle broken. Third door handle has been replaced twice. Seat levers have been replaced but didn't last. Can't something be done to correct these problems permanently?.
The driver's seat adjust failed. No pressure--could be put on the seat without it moving to the full back position. The dealer initially replaced this in Mar 05 after me and dealer speaking with GMC customer satisfaction. GMC reimbursed me for costs. 15 months [!!] later, it failed again. The dealer had only seen this issue twice, both times with my car. GMC initially declined to pay for the repair. Then, after discussion with me, they offered to pay for it with me understanding that they had no liability and would not pay for any future repairs or would offer me $500 certificate discount on a new GMC truck. When I mentioned the safety issue potential, they wanted me to understand that if I accepted the money, I would have no standing in future problems of the same nature. I decline. I am concerned about the safety potential of this. They have twice corrected the symptoms. Is there an underlying cause??? are others having similar issues. I hope you can help to get a handle on this for me and, potentially, for others, too. Thank you.

Handle to change seat position broke. With so many documented reports of this happening to other consumers why is this not recalled?.
The driver's seat recliner handle broke off inside the joint; had to drive in a very uncomfortable position until it was replaced! very expensive to replace; $300. 00 at the dealership. The metal seemed to be soft and fairly easy to break; I do not change the seat position often. 8jb.
The handles that recline both the driver and passenger seats broke off with very little force. My passenger seat is always slightly reclined now and my driver's seat is straight up and down. The dealership refuses to replace them because there is not a recall and according to them its normal wear and tear. My warranty is up but I feel this goes beyond warranty and is a defect from the manufacturer.
Seat reclining lever broke off. Metal snapped inside mechanism.
Seat adjuster on passeneger's side had stopped working, causing seat to go forward and backwards. Contacted dealer, and dealer replaced adjuster. Soon afterwards consumer had to take it back to dealer.

At a standstill seats are not locking . When vehicle is accelarating or touching accelerator it throws consumer in back seat. Seat fails to lock in place.
Passengers seat will not lock in position, it slides back and forth. Dealer repaired once, then replaced passengers seat. At this time seat is broken again. The seat replaced three times. The mechanic said to the owner, slam the seat back to achieve a locked position.
The recliner seatback handle is attached to a sub-standard metal part which has broken on this truck twice since November 1999. In both instances it appears the metal portion that the handle is screwed into is not a high grade metal and thus can be broken in two pieces from regular use. Per our service advisors at the pontiac/GMC dealership, they've indicated this was the part that used the lowest grade material thus they have seen more of this part break on this truck than anything else. Also, the service representative indicated this was the second truck with this problem this week. I definately need to know if this could be a problem in the long run with these trucks in question. I may not be the first, but I am certainly not the last to report this problem.
Passenger seat does not lock into place. Passengers slide forward and backward with almost every press of the gas and brake. Along with the broken recliner lever(both sides) which has left the seat in a semi-reclined position, my passengers are in for a not so pleasant ride.

The vehicle was then pushed into another vehicle. The driver's head had went through the rear window. Vehicle at repair shop. Driver had emergency room treatment.
