Tire Sidewall problems of the 1996 GMC Suburban

Four problems related to tire sidewall have been reported for the 1996 GMC Suburban. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Tire Sidewall problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2003

While traveling on the road, 3 out of 4 schwab tires blew out in the sidewall.

2 Tire Sidewall problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2000

R front tire completle separated where tread & sidewall meet (dot number: v611b1c tiresize: lt24575r16).

3 Tire Sidewall problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2000

The tires that I am reporting are not currently on the list of recalled tires. The problem on these tires are the same as in the recalled tires. The tires are coming apart at the tread line at the sidewall. You can see cracks and bumps at the sidewall/ tread line, and protruding steel belts. I have already filed a complaint with firestone, but have not had any return contact. It has been a month since I first contacted them. I took the tires to a dealer and was told that they were defective but the only thing that they could do was to prorate them. I told them that this was unacceptable since they were doing the same thing as the recalled tires. These tires are still in my posession if you need proof that there are more problems out there than just the tires on recall. Thank you , regards, joel walton( dot number: tire size: p245/75/16 ).

Failure Date: 07/25/1999
