Engine Cooling System Problems of GMC Suburban

GMC Suburban owners have reported 5 problems related to engine cooling system (under the engine and engine cooling category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Engine Cooling System problem of the 1999 GMC Suburban

Failure Date: 10/08/2006

1999 GMC Suburban. Intake manifold gasket failed. This occurred after replacing the water pump which failed for the second time in less than a year. My mechanic says this is epidemic with the gm vehicles which use the dexcool antifreeze. My experience bears this out: my previous vehicle was a 1999 chevy Suburban, which had the same problems. There should be a recall of all these vehicles!.

2 Engine Cooling System problem of the 1999 GMC Suburban

Failure Date: 08/16/2006

1999 GMC Suburban intake manifold gasket failure on 5. 7l engine resulting in leaking antifreeze, and expensive fix. Thousands of similar failures, there should be a (forced) recall based on magnuson-moss !.

3 Engine Cooling System problem of the 1999 GMC Suburban

Failure Date: 02/20/2003

Intake manifold leaks due to a defect in the design/materials of the gasket. The material prematurly breaksdown causing leaking of the manifold.

4 Engine Cooling System problem of the 1999 GMC Suburban

Failure Date: 01/22/2003

Left rear intake manifold leak. On a 1999 vehicle with only 48,520 miles (light useage for mom and kids) this problem seems a bit premature. My brother who owns a 1998 GMC with about 60,000 miles had simular problem. The part must be defective as both problems are very simular in nature. Cost to fix $700 to $1,000 . Thank you.

5 Engine Cooling System problem of the 1997 GMC Suburban

Failure Date: 03/27/1997

Vehicle has been owned since new. Shortly after purchase took vehicle to dealer with complaint the vehicle had excessive stopping distances and it appeared abs was malfunctioning. The dealer advised the brake performance was "normal". Having owned 30 vehicles of all types I do not believe same. Also took vehicle to dealer with a complaint the steering was extremely vague and would feel like it had a time delay. Again was advised steering was "normal". Dealer treated complainant like the proverbial village idiot. Now, three years later I have discovered I am not the only village idiot that owns a GMC Suburban. I found numerous other complaints from owners with the exact same complaints I had. I just want to verify what they have reported. Recently the vehicle's cooling system has had numerous and sequential leaks. The delaer shrugs his shoulders when queried about the condition.
