Fuel Delivery Problems of GMC Suburban

1 Fuel Delivery problem of the 1997 GMC Suburban

Failure Date: 11/11/2004

Fuel gage was acting erratic went full then empty with full tank . A few days later the truck would not start. Found fuse in engine compartment blown for fuel pump. Fuel pump wiring was melted in fuel tank causing short. Had to replace pump and harness which was part of the pump housing. Also replaced fuel filter due to lack of fuel flow (no power) a week later.

2 Fuel Delivery problem of the 1998 GMC Suburban

Failure Date: 04/01/2003

Nar 04/28/2003. Mr the consumer experienced problems with his vehicle. The vehicle leaked oil, engine idled roughly, coolant system leaked, there was a problem with the dome light, steering, the rear axle, the left rear glass rattled, the air condition, battery, suspension were all inoperative. The fuel filter, mirror transmission seat, seat belts, wipers, alternator, brakes, fuel pump.

3 Fuel Delivery problem of the 1997 GMC Suburban

Failure Date: 10/16/2002

Vehicle would stall about once a week at any given time. Then one day it would not start. When fuel pump was removed from the tank the power wire was shorted and melted inside the tank, had to replace the complete tank assmy. Consisting of the pump, sending unit and wiring harness, the repair shop said we were very lucky that it did not explode, after researching this site I see that this has been a problem that dates back to new models released in 1996, and still nothing has been done about it . . . . Why????? dt.

4 Fuel Delivery problem of the 1999 GMC Suburban

Failure Date: 08/12/2002

For a brand new Suburban I don't feel it should be having major part problems. No safety defect listed.

5 Fuel Delivery problem of the 1996 GMC Suburban

Failure Date: 04/24/2002

While replacing the fuel pump to try to fix my problem, I found the power wire (gray), melted inside the fuel tank. Maybe it grounded out somehow, but the whole wire harness is burnt, and the wire is brittled and burnt.

The wiring in the fuel tank for the fuel pump got hot and melted shorting out the fuel pump. Nlm.
