Windshield Wiper/washer Motor Problems of GMC Suburban

: the contact stated while driving 70 mph in rainy weather, the windshield wiper motor stopped working. The wiper motor worked intermittently ever since. No warning lights were illuminated for any associated electrical defect. Neither a dealership nor the manufacturer had been notified. There is already an Apr 28, 2003 recall but your customer service rep told me I should file this anyway since the manufacturer (GMC) will not honor the recall (below). The vehicle is currently at the quebedeaux GMC service department in tucson, arizona. GMC refuses to fix the problem (the wipers will not work and my wife was almost in a bad accident as a result). At first, they said my vehicle was not included in the recall. Now they are telling me that the work was already done since the 2003 recall. It was not. I can only assume that they could not notify me of the recall because I am active duty military and move residences every 2 years. They probably just checked it off as done or there was a typo. But not on the 1998 even though the design and wiper motor are the same. During a recent rainstorm the wiper motor become completely unresponsive while driving at highway speed. The motor makes the same "buzzing" sound that gm technicians refer to for other gm vehicle years. Clearly, this is the same issue. I would like to have the recall re-evaluated or at a minimum include the 1998 models.

Windshield wipers work intermittently. When they do not work, the wipers and the windshield fluid motor don't work at all. There is a recall for this exact same problem for Suburban 1994-1997. Normally they will work when you first start the car, but then go out after about 10 minutes, and fail to work the rest of the day.

Windshield wipers failed while passing a semi in a rainstorm. We nearly crashed. Cars were going everywhere to get out of my way because I couldn't see. Upon return home I checked NHTSA's web site and found that there had been a recall on Suburban wipers 3 years ago. I was never notified and I'm the original owner. My wife bought a used 1996 blazer and was notified about the wipers on that vehicle. I never connected the two until we nearly crashed. It's happened once since. I'm calling my dealer today for an appointment. It upsets me that my wife and grandchildren flirted with injury or death because we weren't notified of this problem.

Also, when pulling away from a stop light driver's seat slid forward or backward. Seat wobbled in the tracks. Dealer replaced driver's side seat track.
