I have a 2. 5 month old 2011 GMC Terrain. At 4984 miles it is in the shop for stalling, for a horrible rattle upon start up, and for it jerking between first and second gear. When I took it in this morning it had stalled six times within the past 2 days. It stalls after start-up in forward and reverse and it stalled three times while in idle in a fast food drive-thru. There is also the rattling which happens on cold and warm starts, whether the a/c or eco mode are on. It sounds like metal rattling and like it is harming the engine. The least of my worries, is the fact that between 25-35 miles an hour the transmission shifts very hard and kicks myself and passengers forward. Apparently there is a tech bulletin that has been out for the rattle for several months. Why not fix them before they sell them? also, there is a recall #11195 for "rough idle, poor driveability" that doesn't show up on the NHTSA site or anywhere else but the GMC dealer's computer. Additionally, despite the claims, I have never gotten better than 21 mpg while driving this car including an all highway trip from michigan to indiana. I think it is false advertising and the fuel economy in eco or not is not what they claim when the y sold the vehicle to me.
The transmission shifting is erratic and creates a problem when in heavy down town traffic where there is stop and go traffic. Car will hesitate before it goes into proper gear. This is the 4 cylinder model I am driving. Very had shift from 1st to 2nd gear at all times. I do not allow any of my family to drive this car because it has become a safety issue in my opinion.
The transmission shifts hard and jerks at times, dealer states it shifted fine when they drove it. It happens mostly in slow rush hour traffic. I will see if it contiuues and drive it with the dealer on the next visit. Is has only 8000 miles on it.
I bought a 2011 black slt Terrain 4/11/11 and has had problems with the noise it makes along with the amount of gas it takes and uses which does not add up to what they are stating when promoting this vehicle. It also is very fragile. You can not lean, fall, or close the doors to hard or it will cave in or dent. I really expected this vehicle to be excellent in and out only to now want to trade it in for a Buick lacrosse or lacern. My Terrain has 5,100 miles on it. I believed I was purchasing a top of the line vehicle with all the bells and whistles and ended up paying for a lemon with no seeds inside.
The contact owns a 2011 GMC Terrain. While driving approximately 15 mph and shifting from first to second gear the vehicle jerked. The vehicle was taken to the dealer twice and the technician performed updates to the electrical system. The vehicle continued to lunge after the updates. The approximate failure mileage was 800.
