1 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem

Failure Date: 11/24/2020

Burns to much oil and I can't keep up with the speed limit it's in and the shop got to put a new timing belt on.

2 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2019

I had pressed on the brake to yield before entering a round a bout and without warning my Terrain shut off. I was able to put it in park and restart it. However not even a mile down the road turning into a parking lot it shut off again with out warning. I was able to coast out of the way thankfully and put the car in park and then restart it. Then again this afternoon turning in my driveway it shut off again with out warning. Other than today the car has shut off with out warning 3 other times. I can't make it 3000 miles before I need another oil change as well. I have the timing belt break on me, the actuators have been replaced multiple times. I've lost count on how many times my car has been in shop over the last year. I'm very afraid that the engine is going to shut off again without warning and cause and accident with my kids in the car.

3 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem

Failure Date: 12/12/2018

My Terrain has 104,000 miles I was driving it when the timing belt broke and destroyed the engine. The mechanic says it was due to lack of oil changes but that is a lie because I went to the dealership every time and I had on star active so the could remind me too I brought it to barker GMC in you MA la they have a record of my service. I was driving my car on the highway when it started shaking and it just quit working went completely out I had to have it tow away. I even called gm motor with no results now it wil cost over 7000. 00 for a new motor I just finished paying for my car I can't afford this please. Help.

4 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2018

I was driving on the highway and the car cut off as soon as I slowed down getting off the exit. I started the car back up and it said that the stabilitrack was off and that I was losing engine power. I got to safety, checked my fluids and I had no oil in the car. But I changed the oil recently and had 3,000 more miles till my next oil change. I towed the car to my mechanic and described what happened. He told me that their was an internal engine failure that caused the timing belt to break. I called my insurance and they had a field adjuster look at the vehicle and he nor the mechanic could figure out why or how this happened on such a well maintained vehicle. They both stated that there is no way that I should have had 2 major system failures (I just replaced the transmission) with the current vehicle mileage. I called GMC and they will not so anything to help me. Their only solution is for me to tow it to a GMC dealership and they will look at it. I could've died in this car, I still owe on this car and they won't help me.

6 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem

Failure Date: 12/27/2010

2011 GMC Terrain. Consumer writes in regards to engine problems and several other issues with vehicle. The consumer stated the district manager of gm refused to allow the dealer to check the ecm/ecu and other appropriate systems, to make sure all the engine settings were as they should be, since he experienced several strange events, such as the shifter hanging in d sometimes as he tried to move to park, very low mpg for several days 24-25 mpg, when he usually got 28-33 mpg. The oil percent meter used to be at 95%. The engine would rev to 7k-8k rpm when the first started and held 2-3 seconds. Sometimes the engine revved to 1600-1800 rpm and the vehicle would almost stall, and sometimes the malfunction indicator light would illuminate on the instrument panel. Soon after, the fan belt began to squeal. The squealing began, when the vehicle was started or when driving at various speeds with the ac on, and going up some slopped highways, roads and streets. The dealer replaced the belt. In the summer of 2011, when the vehicle was started the engine would make a chattering-tapping metal-to-metal sound, as it there were no oil in the engine. The problem would occur with a cold or hot engine. The problem stopped after p0011 error solenoid was replaced.
