I was on my way to work. All of a sudden my car stopped abruptly, with no warning lights or signals. Immediately after the car shut off, the engine light came on. The car was towed to GMC. I was contacted on Saturday, August 30th, by the service tech for an update. Apparently, the spark plug moved out of place, and the piston pushed it into the engine. The technician mentioned that he had never seen any like this before. The vehicle is only 6 years old. There should be no way that something like this could take place and I lose everything and have to purchase an entire new engine. Moreover, had I been on the interstate when this happened, I could have been killed along with other people as well. In a world of technology, there is no way that this should have happened without any warnings or safety mechanisms in place to prevent the spark plug from moving into the engine.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 GMC Terrain. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle shutoff without warning. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle multiple times before the vehicle would resume normal operation. Neither the manufacturer nor the dealer were notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 81,000.
