1 Loud Engine Noise problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2021

I bought it in June 2020. Used excessive oil. I kept adding oil. I thought it was an oil leak and took it in to firestone to get fix. As I was almost there the engine light came on and was making a loud noise under the hood. First warning of anything was wrong, no other lights showed on dash indicating a problem. I was driving when this happened. Firestone said really bad oil leak that damaged timing chain and lower engine. They said I need to replace the engine. Why didn't I get any warning lights indicating there was a problem before my engine was damaged due to excessive oil usage. I see this same issue has happened to other owners with this vehicle. I was driving on the highway and could have been in an accident.
