I had a brand new motor put in my car at 73547 miles and now at 124079 I am having the same issues. They told me that they won't pay for it because the 100,000 warranty is up. The new parts that I put in my car will have a warranty, but the new motor that I put in my car went under the old power train warranty. Check engine light came on while driving to dealership to get an oil change and I had it towed right away to fm dealer.
Check engine light came on, took vehicle to the dealership the same day. Was told the timing chain needed to be replaced because it was stretched. I've had the same driving habits (distance, destinations, etc) for all 4. 5 years that I've had the Terrain. I've had all but 2 oil changes completed at the dealership where I purchased my car originally. I've consistently had my oil changed every time my light comes on and says it needs to be done. I had my oil changed 5 days ago, on schedule and today my engine light comes on and I'm quoted at minimum $2k for a timing chain repair. I called another GMC dealership to get a quote on the work and was told more than $3000 would be expected. Every mechanic I've talked with (at each dealership) suggested this is a known issue with GMC Terrains, equinox's, traverse's.
The car keeps stalling when trying to accelerate in reverse or drive and the check engine light is on. This is problem as I am reading up on this so I believe there is some kind of recall that needs to happen. This is bullshit.
