1 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem

Failure Date: 12/19/2020

On December 19, 2020 I made a trip in my 2015 GMC Terrain. The temperature was 16 degrees. Upon arriving home, I noticed a large puddle of fresh oil coming from the Terrain. I contacted my local mechanic and he advised to bring it to his shop. I added two quarts of oil to the Terrain and I drove the vehicle to his garage. He said he would call me after he accessed the situation. Later that day, he called and said gm had a recall on 2012, 2013, & 2014 model Terrains with this engine but not the 2015. The problem he advised was in cold weather the condensation inthe valve cover froze, causing oil pressure to climb and exit out engine main rear seal. The same place as had happened on my Terrain. The gm recall was# 14882. I called gm and sent a lletter to them . I was assigned case I was advised to take my vehicle to burdick chevrole, cicero, NY. Upon contacting burdick Chevrolet, I was advised by a service manager that burdick does not rate other mechanics work. He also stated there was no way to remove the engine and take it apart as the correct parts were inside the engine. He stated they would not do that. I then contacted gm and advised the work was all done internal of the engine and it was not able to verify the work. I was then advised there was no way I would be reimbursed for any or all of the $1648 bill because the 2015 year was not on the recall 14882. On Wednesday, February 17, 2021 after running errands, upon returning home, I again observed a large oil puddle of oil in my driveway. I called my wife and advised her of the oil puddle. She advised she was at church, approx 4 miles away. I immediately drove there and observed more oil under the Terrain. There was no oil registering on the dip stick. I added 3 quarts of oil I drove the Terrain 3 miles to the mechanics shop again. He installed another rear engine main seal.
