Code p0700 was indicated at a professional transmission shop. My vehicle started driving different. It is a scary feeling. I have a ten year old daughter who I commute to school and safety is the utmost of importance. I don't want to have a accident in a vehicle I recently purchased for safety and end up having to look for another vehicle because of a total loss accident or a transmission problem that would cost a lot of money I don't have. My fear is the gears slipping as I drive my daughter to school. I got a quote of close to 3,000 $ to have the transmission rebuild or fixed. Money that I don't have to give a shop for a vehicle I purchased to not have problems like this. I called GMC to make an appointment to perform a transmission flush. The p0700 code indicates tcm failure. This is a very nerve wrecking situation. Please help me .

We purchased our 2024 GMC Terrain on April 13, 2024 and on June 12, 2024 my husband and I were headed out to go to dinner and when leaving our neighborhood I noticed a weird transmission shift or slip and then the vehicle rpms increased suddenly. I pulled off the road and put the vehicle in park then I attempted to put the vehicle in reverse. The reverse lit up and just began to blink in the dash but the transmission did not go into reverse. I was able to put the vehicle in park and then drive to return home (we were less than 1/4 mile from home thankfully). Luckily we live in rural area and there were not many people on the road. Had we been on a busy road this could have been a dangerous situation. The next day the car was towed to the nearest GMC dealership. The original diagnosis was that the tcm was bad and needed to be replace and that there would be an estimated wait time of about 7 weeks. The tcm was replaced but did not resolve the issue. At that point (July 30, 2024) gm released a bulletin regarding a bad snap ring condition. The service dealer torn down the transmission and determined the snap ring was bad and they also noticed that the clutch was severely burned and needed to be replaced along with both valve bodies. By the time the parts came in and these repairs were completed, we were without the vehicle for 12 weeks. The vehicle was returned to us on 8/21/24. Unfortunately on 8/26/24 - 5 days and approximately 196 miles later, the vehicle began to behave the same way and had to be returned to the dealer. At this point we requested that gm buy the vehicle back from us which they very promptly declined. The transmission was completely tore down again and it was determined a seal or ring needed to be replaced. That repair has not worked either. Now more than 2 more weeks have passed and we are now waiting on a complete new transmission. We have again requested gm but the vehicle back from us. We are waiting on their response.
I bought this car a couple of months ago. This problem didn't happen when I took it on a test drive from dealership. It happened after I bought it. Specifically when I start driving it more often. Sometimes a slipping occurs when shifting between gears 5-6. This happens intermittently on internal roads, not at high speed. When the car shifts the rpm goes up to 4000 rpm, sometimes even more, it feels like the car is in neutral for a few seconds, before it switches to the 6th gear. I have to remove my foot from the gas pedal to not let the rpm get very high. When this happens it feels like somebody hit us from the back. Last time my baby started crying when this happens. I'm a little concerned about our safety when we drive this car. The issue is that this problem is difficult to duplicate. Sometimes it happens more than once in 1 day and sometimes it doesn't happen for a while. I did some research online about similar cases with gm suvs and some said that their problem was resolved after changing a defective valve body and tcm and some said it's the clutch. It also can be transmission fluid but this car has a low mileage (28500) I doubt the transmission fluid need to be changed. Based on the GMC maintenance schedule, the transmission oil should be changed when this car reaches 45k. I took this car to the dealership multiple times, they check it and they tell me that they're unable to duplicate this issue. I'm not sure what else to do! I love this car. I'm disappointed that I had to deal with this issue that I believe is a safety hazard and could cause accidents. I need your help please!.

We bought a 2013 GMC Terrain in April 2018 with 129k miles for approximately $15k after tax and title. We had it for about 8 months and were bringing it to a local Chevrolet dealership for routine oil changes every 5,000 miles. About 1000 miles before our next oil change in December 2018, we noticed the engine knocking. The dash illuminated the check engine symbol. We connected an obdii reader to the pcm at a nearby part store. The reader displayed the code p0014; which is relative to "camshaft position 'b' timing over-advanced or system performance bank 1". We discovered the code was associated with low engine oil. We checked the oil level and there was no oil on the dip stick. We needed to poor 3 1/4 quarts of oil into the engine. We needed to add approximately 1 quart of oil every 1 1/2 to 2 weeks thereafter. About a month went by, and in January 2019, the dash displayed an engine power loss message and the engine sounded like that of a diesel engine. When the engine was shut off, we noticed the oil had leaked all over the ground. The vehicle was brought to a mechanic who diagnosed it as having a rear main oil seal failure, piston rings were bad, and the timing chain was bad. We called the dealer where it was purchased. They noted the vehicle was no longer under warranty because it has over 135k miles on it and they were unable to compensate for the damage. We called the gm customer service headquarters directly, and they informed us the vehicle was not listed as having any issues or recalls according to the VIN. $3500 estimate to fix by private mechanic. Vehicle is currently being serviced.
