The contact owns a 2014 GMC Terrain. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the faulty timing chain caused the engine oil to burn rapidly. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 97,000. .
