1 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2019 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 06/01/2022

The contact's wife owns a 2019 GMC Terrain. The contact stated that upon making a left turn, the steering wheel would forcefully jerk to right, thrusting the vehicle into the opposite direction. The contact stated that the service esc and service brake assist warning lights were illuminated. The warning lights would disappear soon after the failure as well as upon restart. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer on multiple occasions where he was repeatedly informed that unless the service light was illuminated upon arrival to the dealer, they would be unable to service the vehicle. The vehicle remained in the possession of the dealer and was not repaired. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

3 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2019 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 09/30/2020

9/30/20 driving home and was accelerating to pass another vehicle, the tcs and stabilitrak lights came on and check engine light began to flash. A brief message popped up to service the tcs system and went away. Check engine light stopped flashing but tcs & stabilitrak/traction lights remained on. I stopped the vehicle as soon as I could, turned it off, waiting a few minutes and restarted - all lights had turned off. Problem has not replicated, but am scheduled for service (oil change) at dealer tasca Buick GMC sat oct 3rd, will discuss during service appointment. (I commute daily round trip 120 miles) this is extremely worrisome).

4 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 08/23/2020

1. While driving, the collision alert will randomly go off and decelerate the vehicle, even if there are no other vehicles around. This has been happening periodically for the last couple years, but is getting worse and more frequent. It feels like it shifts to neutral and engages the brakes. This has almost caused us to be hit by cars behind us on the interstate. 2. For the last few years there is absolutely no way to tell the milage on the car is. That sensor went out and the GMC mechanic that I had fixing a different issue with the car stalling randomly (which I now discover is a very common occurrence with this vehicle, but not covered by warranty as it happens a few thousand miles after full warranty expires-this was 2017) that this is a common issue with Terrains and was not covered under warranty (shocker). And I'm not willing to but the hundreds of dollars necessary to fix the problem.

6 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2019 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 08/06/2020

Two incident warnings on my dashboard saying of my back hatch was open when it was not. Had it serviced because the dash warning would not shut off. Service said it was fixed then happened again. Twice this happened intermittently. Another incident when on navigation screen, when the navigator gave directions it changed to phone screen and went back to navigation screen when she stopped talking, like she was calling me to verbally give me directions! the most worrisome was as I was going 50 mph on city street, my gas peddle stopped engaging with the engine and I was loosing speed, as I pressed on the gas peddle harder the car was decreasing in speed as I watched the speedometer. During that incident all was working including brakes, radio and steering. I proceeded to drift into a driveway to stop the car for help, good thing I was not on the freeway could have gotten killed. The car is getting serviced now, I do not want it back, will trade in for different make/model is this considered a lemon and which laws/action do I take? I've only had the car only 7 months when this started to happen.

7 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2014 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 04/23/2020

Driving between 40-45mgh and stabilitrak failure service and abs failure light comes on. At every bump the service lights goes on and off. Then on a smooth service the stabilitrak lights comes on until I get home. With the collision warning turned on the car also and almost frequently tends to brake on its own while driving. But here's the real problem this 2014 GMC Terrain denali car is not on the recall list - why? seems it's from the same car manufacturer with same issues, shouldn't it be on the same recall list.

8 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2019 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 02/09/2020

On February 9th, driving home on a rough highway, my service esc, abs, traction control and check engine light (flashing) came on. I immediately pulled over, freaking out. Shut my car off cause I had no clue what to do. Sat for a few minutes, collecting myself and turned it back on. All lights were gone, so I decided to continue the drive home. Took my car into the dealer the following day, found code p0300 stored in history. They did an update, and hoped that would solve my issue. Alas, it did not. This same issue has happened at least 6 times now. The 5th time, again, on a smooth highway, I completely broke down and had to be towed! it has now been sitting at the dealer for two weeks (since July 31st) while they try and diagnose the issue.

9 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2013 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 01/19/2020

On a cold 12 degree day on 1/19/2020 I was driving my 2013 GMC Terrain on a busy state highway doing the speed limit of 55 mph. Out of no where I began to smell the odor of burning oil and seen white smoke coming from the rear of my vehicle. As soon as I noticed it my car's gauges started coming on. The check engine light, a warning to for "service stabilitrak", then the warning for "engine power reduced". At the moment my car all the sudden shut off while driving down a major highway! there was no power steering and it was very hard for me steer my car into the parking lot of walmart and safely off the road. Once in the parking lot I got out of the car and checked my oil. Smoke is rolling out of the dipstick shaft. I check my oil weekly due to gm's oil consumption issues with the 2013 GMC Terrains and on 1/15/2020 the oil was at full, was of normal color and consistency when I fueled and checked it that day. So I was shocked to see that there was no oil on my dipstick and instead a milky brownish sludge on it. I sent my fiance to buy me 2 quarts of oil just to get it to the walmart service department so they could look at it since I was in the walmart parking lot. I added the oil drove it 100 yards to the service dept of walmart. The service man pulled it into the garage and then informed me a few minutes later that the rear main seal blew and oil was flowing out of it. It was not driveable so I had to have it towed to a gm dealer. The gm dealer called me this morning 1/21/2020 to inform me that the rear main seal blew due to moisture in the intake and a froze the pcv module and caused to much pressure to build up and blew the seal. The dealer quoted the repairs to be $2065. 69 and informed me that the repairs are not covered under the gm service bulletin #14882 because my VIN number is not included in the service bulletin.

10 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2014 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 01/17/2020

While driving my truck power reduce drastically without me braking. The dash shows stabilizer control reducing power.

11 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2013 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 01/02/2020

Showed stability track. I was driving on the highway when it showed service stability trak then engine power reduced. It took my speed from a 65 to 35 in an instant causing me to almost crash. Then the car started to jerk as I tried to drive to find somewhere safe.

12 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2020 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 11/25/2019

Every week it's something different. In motion. . . No cruze control. No audio. Don't drive over 50mph brake problem. Parking brake engages randomly and without user engagement. No awd. No stability traction. This happens so frequently the dash indicators have been reduced to idiot lights. At what point do I become concerned? things appear to resolve when the engine is turned off and back on, sometimes. . . . I compare it to other glitchy technology. However I potentially could be at an 80mph crazing speed when I decide to ignore the idiot lights. . . What happens when a real problem presents and I ignore the dash indicators do to frequent glitches? I'm so disappointed. My 2 previous Terrains were 10 times the vehicle the 2020 model year.

13 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 10/04/2019

Stabilitrak warning and check engine light came on. Gauges went to 0 and then bounced up and down while I was driving. The car refused to accelerate over 40mph. This time I was not on the highway, but this has happened while driving on an interstate as well. I have put in a complaint with general motors and they called back once because I thought the car got bad data when my cc for onstar was compromised. They have not returned my calls since. I have taken it to a certified gm shop 4 times and they still cannot diagnose the issue. I am terrified to drive the vehicle now. This last time, I was able to record the gauges acting crazy and have also sent that to general motors.

14 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2017 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 07/18/2019

I was driving down the road at 55 mph when a deer ran out and hit the passenger side of my vehicle. It bounced and rolled off the drivers side. I pulled the vehicle off to the side of the road. All of the electric components in the vehicle were on. The interior lights were on, the hazard lights were flashing and the console was locked up. I pushed the buttons, but nothing happened. The airbags did not deploy there was a message on the screen that say service airbag (but they hadn't deployed). I could smell something burning, the vehicle was smoking and I could hear something popping, I got out to assess the damage and my vehicle was on fire. The vehicle ended up being a total loss. . This is happened in GA and the state patrol did the police report.

15 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 06/17/2019

I have been having an issue with the stability track/reduced engine power coming on. I will be driving and then the reduced engine power with an exclamation mark pops up, my car speed drops and then the car cuts off. The car would crank back up after sitting for a while. After researching this, I found that several other GMC, chevy and cadillacs had this same issue and were given the run around by GMC when trying to have it fixed. There was a recall for those vehicles but not the Terrain. I have had the throttle body cleaned like suggested and that did not solve the problem. The problem occurs no matter if I am on the highway or regular streets. Being a single parent of 3 and legal guardian of 1 grandchild, I don't have money to keep trying to repair this issue. I had my transmission looked at and that was not the issue. How can I get them to correct the stability track/reduced engine power issue? I have been without my car for a week now. This is making it hard to get back and forth to work. I am actually calling the GMC headquarters to report this issue and then the better business bureau.

16 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 05/20/2019

Almost a month after my oil change my engine started making noise and cutting off. When I took it to get checked, they said that my oil was gone and my engine is failing. Now my car is just sitting at the dealership, because the price is gonna be to high. Is their a recall for my 2011 g. M. C Terrain.

17 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2012 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 05/11/2019

Takata recall my car has been throwing a engine power reduced and service stabil trak light. I have had it in the shop five times now, after replacing a coolant sensor which is a code it through, it has thrown three pedal sensors, after replacing it the first time the mechanic place told me the pedal was bad, sent it back replaced it again and the light came back on. This has been going on since the beginning of may and still not resolved. I have read several other people post about this on their Terrains.

18 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 04/27/2019

I bought this vehicle in Nov. 2018. Two months later I started having problems with the stabili trak. I have had it in the shop at the GMC dealer twice. All codes passed because the stabili trak light turns off. Both rpm and speedometer needles go up and down real fast. Sometimes they stay at 0 and I start loosing power. If I'm stopped, it takes forever for it to gain any speed. I turn it off and restart it only for it to start all over again. I turned it off once and tried to reset and completely dead. Third time it started. Dash lights go from dim to bright and back. The dealer said they cant find the codes if the stabili track light isn't on, yet the check engine light stays on. It is getting worse, almost every day. But the stabili trak light doesn't stay on long enough.

19 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 04/25/2019

Tl-the contact owns a 2015 GMC Terrain. The contact stated that their lift gate lifted on it's own. The lift gate then dropped and hit the contact's spouse. Then the lift gate lifted again. Then the contact's spouse had to hold the life gate before it struck their daughter. Finally, the lift gate closed on it's own. The contact scheduled to take the vehicle to be diagnosed next week at johnson motors 1891 blinker pkwy, dubois, PA 15801(877) 816-0659. The contact planned to repair the vehicle after the vehicle is diagnosed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. No assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 48,000. Jw.

20 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2019 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 04/12/2019

While driving, the entire gps navigation shuts off and gives an sd card error message. Nothing on the infotainment screen is on or functioning, including sensors.

21 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2019 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 04/02/2019

Stop and go traffic on I-75. The vehicle jumped forward. Driver trying to push the brake pedal but it was not working, auto sensoring had taken over the vehicle and caused the vehicle to rearended the vehicle ahead of it pushing that vehicle into the vehicle ahead of that one.

22 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2016 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 03/06/2019

I have been driving my vehicle when on three seperate occasions the service stabilitrak message flashed on the dic and I lost engine power. One of the times this happened I was on a road where the speed limit was 55 and the issue almost caused a vehicle to crash into me. The message goes away after about 5 minutes. I tried taking it to the dealership twice and was told they cant replicate the problem so now I dont even bother trying to have them fix it. How can a major safety issue like this not be fixed by gm!!.

23 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2018 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 03/06/2019

While the vehicle is in drive it loses propulsion without notice. The vehicle stays in drive. The vehicles rpm increase as your foot is on the accelerator but the vehicle doesn't continue to move. The only way to regain propulsion is to completely shut the vehicle off and then start up again.

25 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2012 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 02/11/2019

Emission control has went out twice within 3 months of being fixed. Cam shaft both sides had to be replaced. 4 times with 6 months the fuel light has came on stating the cap needs repaired, even though it was replaced. Alternator, battery has been replaced October 2019, while in another sate. Engine light has been on since I purchased it in Feb. 2019. Electrical shortage because of previous right side damage. Throttle has went out, while driving 65 on highways. Stability control stopped working. Crankshaft was replaced. Exhaust leak. Body control short, jerking while driving, timing warning.

26 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 01/31/2019

Car has been a nightmare since we purchased it. Constantly breaking down and having to result in expensive repairs. 3 catalytic converters, engine used to shut off due to overheating. Engine reduce sign, stabilitrak problems. This has been the worst car to ever be created in the history of vehicles. I'd rather take the damn bus.

27 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2014 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 01/26/2019

I was driving my 2014 GMC Terrain with approximately 85,000 miles when I normally pressed the brake pedal and the antilock brakes activated unexpectedly. My dashboard told me the stability track needed service. I brought the vehicle to get repaired and they found a speed sensor and it's contact on the hub were bad. Cost to replace hub approx $350.

28 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 GMC Terrain

The contact was informed that the vehicle had a very high oil consumption and neede a new engine and the warranty did not cover the repairs. The vehicle was not repaired this last time. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,715. Bp.

29 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2018 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 11/22/2018

Driving on a downslope heading north on 65 going into tennessee from alabama I experienced a loss of power system lights went off along with gauges going off and on. At which time stabiatrak and transmission lights came on saying to pull over immediately. We did so called gm onstar where they told us we would experience a loss in power but could travel onward. We chose to get towed, however due to the holiday we had difficulties getting a tow and were forced to drive home 90 miles away. The problem did not present itself again on the drive home. We took it to a GMC dealer in vestavia hills they pulled off the codes but had no reason for the issue nor were they able to get service bulletins from gm on the issue. I documented the findings went home and a later on 11/23/18 the problem occurred at about 130 miles from the first incident. This time it happened going up a hill and giving the car gas did nothing to get me up the very small grade. I had to put it in reverse and get a running start at the hill in order to make it home. I called gm again and requested a tow to a second dealer in trussville, al they were unable to even see it until Monday 11/26/18. I am very fearful that if we have to drive it again that I may not be as lucky.

30 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2010 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 11/15/2018

While driving the stability track service lift comes on, the abs, brakes, service all wheel drive, as well as the service power steering at which time I lose power steering. It also feels like it is accelerating sluggishly when drive sometimes. This happens and goes off sometimes with out me turning the car off or stopping but other times I have to pull over and wait a few minutes after turning the car off. It happens various times. At one moment it is driving fine and then these lights come on. When taken to dealership the lights have gone off and they get no codes.

31 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2014 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 10/26/2018

Stopped at a light and car just stalled without warning. Put the car on park and put my blinkers on. Looked at dashboard and no check engine light on. Turned car off and on then it started to drive but stalled 4 more times after I came to a full stop at a light. Used the fixd app and it detected 1 problem code p0011 intake camshaft position sensor and the test turned the check engine light on and explained that variable valve/camshaft timing in the internal combustion engine control the intake and exhaust gases in and out of the gas combustion chamber. Sensor should last as long as your car but can become damaged due to wear and tear but my car only has 93000 hwy miles and is only 4 yrs old.

32 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2010 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 10/17/2018

While driving my car the stabili-track service light comes on. Then the check engine, brake, abs, awd, as well as the power steering lights come on. Then I lose power steering and my speed is throttled down a lot. Its happened on the expressway and city streets. When on the expressway I have to immediately get to the shoulder without getting into an accident. I've had my car towed to the mechanics shop multiple times and they've told me that there are no codes when hooking up the computer. They kept it a few times in the last 3 years and have told me there were misfires after letting the car sit and testing it out (test driving) and work was needed (throttle body replacement, spark plug replacement, cam shaft swap out and a full tune-up). $1000 and less than a year later it happens again and then again. This is the 3rd year (2016, 2017, 2018) it has happened to me in a row and all the mechanic can say is that it may be something gm should investigate. I've called gm with no luck. This is extremely unsafe and I am thankful that my kids were not in the car when it happens. Trying to navigate traffic on the expressway when your car throttles down to 25-35 mph is insane.

33 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 09/28/2018

I purchased my vehicle from a dealer in June 2018, and about a month of purchasing it my vehicle has been hesitating in acceleration, at first I didn't think anything of it, but it started getting worse. Two days ago when I was driving my vehicle in the downtown area (city streets), it was bucking a lot. When I got to my destination and restarted the vehicle, I put it in reverse and proceeded to drive back but the car shuddered and then shut off completely and the malfunction indicator lamp light came on (but it didn't stay on long). Today as I was driving it continued to jerk, especially when I was driving around 20 mph or below (which I had to do because of the school zones). My vehicle shut off again as I began to pull off from dropping my child off at school, which almost caused another parent to crash in the back of me. The only way I could keep the car from shutting off again is by accelerating on the gas above 20 mph.

34 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2013 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 09/21/2018
