36 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2018 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 05/31/2018

Continue to experience radio resetting (completely shutting down and resetting giving you the GMC logo) as you drive down the road, with phone connected with usb and without. Continue to experience usb not producing enough power to my phone to run waze from the usb port under the radio. Phone calls will fade in and out between the radio and the phone call. . . Being connected via bluetooth to the truck. Continue not being able to answer the calls via bluetooth. Truck has been into 2 different dealerships. . . . Both have "reset" the system. . . But it continues to do the same things. . . Or something new every week. Parts have been ordered to replace usb port. . . Still waiting. Bought the car new. . . . Been ongoing. . . Been in the dealerships 10-15 times now. No solution.

37 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2018 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 05/11/2018

Addition to report 11091743. The vehicle was serviced for warning of transmission, stabilitrak, parking assist and notification that vehicle was unsafe to drive (may 2, 2018). Vehicle picked up (may 11, 2018) after series of repairs. I drove approximately 15 miles and the vehicle began jerking and stalling. At the final jerk the vehicle went from 35 mph to 5mph and would not accellerate. There were several loud noises and a burning smell. The vehicle had to be towed to my residence. When I picked up the vehicle from jim causley I asked if it was safe to drive. I received no response. I asked about the repairs and I was told there were some loose wires and minor adjustments. Once again my life was put in jeopardy because of a vehicle failing to operate while in heavy traffic.

38 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2018 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 05/11/2018

Vehicle was in service for 9 days for- (as identified on the information system) transmission, stabilitrak, parking assist and a message "the vehicle was unsafe to drive". On Friday, may 12, 2018 I picked up vehicle from jim causley after repair and replacement as indicated on the service report. I drove no more that 15 miles and the vehicle jerked, stalled, made loud noises and smelled of something burning. The vehicle went from 35mph to 5mph. The vehicle would not accelerate beyond 10-15mph. I had to have the vehicle towed to my residence. On Tuesday, may 15, 2018 I had it towed to jim causley. This is a continuation of the first complaint #11091743.

39 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 05/07/2018

Abs light is on even after fixing the supposed problem. System stabilitrak constantly on. Excessive use of oil. 2 to 3 quartz every 2 weeks. Reduced engine power comes up on dash and no matter how fast I am going (15 mph or 80 mph on a highway) it doesnt matter my car will slow down or just shut off. Also happens when I have to hit braked hard, slow down or accelerate from a stopped position. I am also using a lot of gas.

40 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2018 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 05/02/2018

Stopped at a light to make a left turn. The vehicle jerked, then shifted from drive to park. The info system gave me the following messages: transmission, stabilitrak and parking assist. I turned the vehicle off and tried to restart it. I got a message that said "this vehicle is unsafe to drive. :" at this time non of the gear options were available. A roseville, michigan police officer had to position herself behind me becsuse cars were going around me on both sides (my four way blinkers were on). The tow truck driver was unable to put the vehicle in neutral, thus my vehicle had to be dragged onto the truck. At the dealer they were unable to change gears and once again my vehicle was dragged off the tow truck prior to this incident. I reported to the dealer the rocky, bouncy, pulling ride which made the vehicle hard to control. I also reported the jerking while driving and in the auto stop. Despite all of my verbalizations of the concerns, they, wrote the work orders in dealer language and only addressed what they wanted.

41 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 04/17/2018

While drive down the interstate my car said service stability track then said engine power reduced, speed dropped dramatically then shut off completely. Engine would not turn back over. Had it towed to the shop only to find out the engine locked up due to no oil. Dealer said it was due to a very common problem with gm with excessive oil consumption! I had my oil changed and a full tune up 2 weeks ago! called to check recalls only to find out that in fact there was an recall for excessive oil consumption but my VIN wasn't involved. Dealer says in fact it should be! this could have caused a accident and caused my children and I to be seriously injured!.

42 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2010 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 03/19/2018

While driving the stability track service lift comes on, the abs, brakes, service all wheel drive, as well as the service power steering at which time I lose power steering. It also feels like it is accelerating sluggishly when drive sometimes. This happens and goes off sometimes with out me turning the car off or stopping but other times I have to pull over and wait a few minutes after turning the car off. It happens various times. At one moment it is driving fine and then these lights come on. When taken to dealership the lights have gone off and they get no codes. I was told the that it says a miscommunication and no code is recorded. The service light issues happen on city streets. The sluggish acceleration happens on both city and highway. I have been to the GMC dealer several times over the last 2-3 weeks.

43 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2012 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 02/15/2018

While driving the vehicle, I experienced strong knocking vibrations and sounds seemingly coming through the floorboard. As I continued driving for about 5 miles trying to get home, the knocking became more pronounced and my steering was affected. I also began noticing an extremely strong odor necessitating lowering windows to breathe. I notified my dealership and took the vehicle in for diagnosis the very next morning without driving it after arriving to my garage. I was told the awd had completely deteriorated. My concern was that I never received any dashboard notification of the problem, not did my onstar diagnosis indicate a problem. I have been quite disturbed that the vehicle became disabled before I was aware of any problem. I have taken my vehicle in for regular maintenance at my GMC dealership and would like an explanation regarding the failure to identify this problem through the regular maintenance checks. I am single senior woman who has no backup vehicle and am quite concerned about my safety on the highway and this issue has caused me to have serious safety concerns. I drove the car to the dealership to check on the problem on Friday, February 16, 2018. I called the GMC complaint center to check on possible recalls or any remaining warranties that might apply and I was told the center was assigning a sr. Advisor to contact the local GMC dealership that still has my car and the advisor was told the dealership needed more time to diagnose and assess the cause of the problem. I have had to rent a vehicle since it may be another 2-3 days before I even get a response regarding the nature and cost of the repairs. I was originally told the entire awd system had to be replaced at a cost of $1500--$2000. I questioned the reason for the extreme malfunction without any warning notices appearing. . . Main reason for my complaint and concern.

44 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2010 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 01/16/2018

I own a 2010 GMC Terrain that only has 51,000 miles. I was excellerating to get onto the highway when my check engine light came on and my vehicle all the sudden had lack of engine power. I was able to pull to the shoulder of the road, thankfully without getting hit. My vehicle was towed to my mechanic's shop. A test was done and the code p2135 throttle/petal sensor switch was revealed. The car was turned off and then back on and the engine light was not on. Now, two weeks later, this happened again on a city street. This time another warning came on along with the engine light. The warning says engine stability trak. This is a huge concern as bot times, I narrowly escaped an accident. My vehicle only has 51,000 miles and it is well taken care of. My concern is this is a manufacturer defect.

45 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 01/01/2018

I was driving on the highway and the car cut off as soon as I slowed down getting off the exit. I started the car back up and it said that the stabilitrack was off and that I was losing engine power. I got to safety, checked my fluids and I had no oil in the car. But I changed the oil recently and had 3,000 more miles till my next oil change. I towed the car to my mechanic and described what happened. He told me that their was an internal engine failure that caused the timing belt to break. I called my insurance and they had a field adjuster look at the vehicle and he nor the mechanic could figure out why or how this happened on such a well maintained vehicle. They both stated that there is no way that I should have had 2 major system failures (I just replaced the transmission) with the current vehicle mileage. I called GMC and they will not so anything to help me. Their only solution is for me to tow it to a GMC dealership and they will look at it. I could've died in this car, I still owe on this car and they won't help me.

46 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2018 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 12/20/2017

The first time while driving at 60 mph, the vehicle instrument panel warning lights activated and gauges fluctuated followed by acceleration, braking and steering movement. Then the information panel displayed stabilitrak unavailable, collision warning unavailable, lane change alert unavailable and transmission service. The car then started shifting erratically. The 2nd time same situation while driving 30-40 mph.

47 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2010 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 11/15/2017

I was getting gas, fiiled up, when I got back into car, didn't want to start, really had to hit gas pedal, very scary, that happened 3 times after getting gas, another time I was at stop light, and it just stalled, engine completely stopped, hard start up again, so I decided for safety reasons taking it to dealership, it's still there as of 11/20/2017, but wanted to get this out there, I think maybe this is ongoing issue with certain models of GMC, and feel maybe it will be a recall issue if enough people report issues as such as these. I thank god I wasn't driving and this happened, def a safety concern GMC needs to address.

48 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 10/14/2017

I purchased my car used in September two weeks later I started experiencing stalling and erratic jerking while driving. I took the car to the dealer where I purchased the car (while it was under warranty) and was told not to worry it's just the O2 sensors. The car was loosing oil like crazy. December the car became worse and stalled and would not start. The dealership informed me I need a new engine, I am no longer covered under warranty and still paying for this car. No one will help me so now I'm stuck with a payment and an inoperable car. . Oh did I mention I got a car fax once the car broke down to see the vehicle history the title is branded manufactor buy back/lemon. . I have seen on several forums and google that many people have complained and gm will not do a recall this issue is totally unsafe and can cause serious injury.

49 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2010 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 09/24/2017

The drakes lock up and will not release until the car sits for sometime about 2-8 hours. The service stabilitrack light comes on and you lose engine power almost instantly. I have had four different shop fix what they suspected was the problem and the last shop was a dealership and it happened to me a week later while out of town for a wedding.

50 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2013 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 08/01/2017

My car since day one steering wheels locks up constantly, the brakes do not stop you the worst is the engines battery which is located under the seat constantly says I have no power it will turn on several codes and the start idling the rpms go up like your press g the gas but you not then you stall you can be going 70 or 20 mph and it will just stall with no warning. The steering wheel will and I lose traction in regular roads in perfect weather. I can't seem to locate my airbags I have had my vehicle services a million times they always say nothing is wrong also when the rpms or going up. And down I lose all headlights and dash lights. This has happened to me at night so many times. This vehicle has almost killed me so many times I lost count I take it to service there is never an issue. I'm probably going to end up in a severe accident soon the brake pedal sticks and I can't press it down I had to pull into grass one time to avoid a car.

51 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2012 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 06/23/2017

My 2012 GMC Terrain has been stalling for a few days now the stabilltrack sensor was replaced this year the engine light comes on and off. And my radio sometimes cuts off on it's own but now my key keeps getting stuck in the ignition switch and the car keeps stalling but when I get a jump it starts with no problem but once it stalled when I was driving thank god I was a few blocks from home . Then when I try to start again it won't start. It's only 5yrs. Old I've read many complaints about this modle. I think I bought a lemon 😕.

52 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2014 GMC Terrain

53 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 03/01/2017

Started March of 2017 progressively getting worse. SUV jerks, gauges go crazy, check engine light comes on, if slow to below 20 mph it sputters and won't accelerate, if I stop completely it won't accelerate. Multiple times this has happened on the interstate during rush hour traffic & at busy intersections. If I turn car off and back on the system resets. Then it starts all over again. It has been in and out of the shop. Probably 10-15 times in 2years. They get codes, but then these go away before they can be run. I broke down 1-1/2 weeks ago in bay minette & the car wouldnt start back up. I was stranded out of town and had to rent a car to get back home. The dealer there got 7 error codes that all cleared out. I have filed a compjaint with GMC, but they are slow to handle the problem & I can't get supervisors on the phone or at least one who doesn't seem like he's been drinking.

54 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2010 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 01/07/2017

Getting gas in oil runs when you shut it off ruff idle.

55 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 12/09/2016

I have a 2011 GMC Terrain about 62390 miles. When I am accelerating the car jerks. I took it to the dealer they state they could not find nothing wrong. I just got the fuel pump replaced due to a recall. And now a light came on that read ac off due to high engine temp but the temperature gauge showed cold and it never went to normal after being on for 20 mins and to this day is goes to the notch right before normal. Also when the fuel is low the light does not come on. I called the dealership and they stated they have to duplicate the problem to fix it but I cant bring it in until 12/16/2016 because they are booked.

56 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 08/03/2016

Engine reduces power, stabilitrak light comes on and vehicle shuts off. All three times it happens usually during or after highway driving. Car has been in service 3 times for the same issue. 8/3/16, 8/11/16 and 1/4/17.

57 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 06/02/2016

Engine keeps shutting off while driving; would have to guide the car off the road and restart. Radio shuts off; all electrical systems shut off and car would have to be restarted. This has been happening after the car was purchased sporadically since last year. The vehicle was turned in for service on the issue, however I was informed that they found nothing wrong. Just this past week till now, the cars engine and electrical system starting shutting down again while driving or while in parking mode at least more than 6 times.

58 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2012 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 05/04/2016

My 2012 GMC Terrain 2. 4l is having an issue with excessive oil consumption. I am constantly having to check my oil and it gets to 1 qt or more low between my 5k oil changes. I've seen multiple complaints with this. Because of this I have a check engine light on indicating my catalytic converter may be bad. Ive had the car for about three years. It shouldn't need the catalytic converter already. My car is due for smog next month and I've akready had to repmace the intake and exhaust sensors on the engine because of the oil issue. This happens while car is in motion being driven. It is eating up oil.

59 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2010 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 05/03/2016

I purchased this vehicle last may 2015 with no warning indicators working my vehicle loss excessive oil and now needing a new engine, how does a vehicle lose 4. 5 quarts between a oil changes. Now I'm stuck with the cost of repairs for installing a new engine and the extended warranty and gm motors refused to help me with repairs. I have six children at home I provide for and now will be eating a new engine at the dinner table for the next four years! thanks a lot gm for not living up to your name im going to Toyota next vehicle. The good thing I was parked at a store when the vehicle gave out with no warning!!!!!!!.

60 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2013 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 04/11/2016

Crash control keeps braking for a crash when there is nothing in front of. Had the brakes replaced so I know it is not that.

61 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2012 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 03/06/2016

My check engine light came on about a month ago and was serviced for a problem with the camshaft. After getting my GMC Terrain back I noticed that on occasion the rpm would shoot up while driving and then crash back down causing almost a jerking motion (it has happened in all types of scenarios I. E. While driving on the highway, back roads (all while at a steady speed) and then finally yesterday 3/5/2016 while breaking as I approached a stop sign. ) now this morning (3/6/2016) I went out to start my car and immediately after it turned over the engine was making a very loud noise that I can only describe as the sound of an airplane engine with a light knocking sound. I stood there unsure of what to do and the car just turned off. I went inside, got my husband, started it again this time without the noise, but the dashboard was filled with lights on- check engine, traction control, and a warning service stabilitrack. I let it run for about 5 minutes, turned it off, and restarted it. The check engine light is now off, but the traction control and stabilitrak warning remained on. I decided to try to drive the car around the block to check it out as of course it's Sunday and I can't get in touch with the service department and also because I am the primary driver of two children under 10. I backed out of the driveway, and went into drive and the car stalled again. I got it started and got halfway back up my driveway before it stalled again. Truthfully, I am scared to even try to drive it now, and if I am being honest I don't think that the car will make it to the dealership (1hr. Away by highway) without stalling. I've noticed others with similar complaints on gm/chevy all makes and models, and don't understand why this issue is not being resolved. What are they waiting for- a family of 4 driving on a highway causing an accident because their car stalled? death?.

62 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2010 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 01/27/2016

When in motion stabilitrak light comes on, I receive the message "engine powering down", car slows down to 10 miles an hour. You must pull off on side of road turn car off wait approximately 60 sec and restart car. This is so unsafe I am afraid to take it on expressways. Took to dealership they claimed it was timing chain at cost of $2000. Got gm and dealership to pay part of cost. Then was told it needed a serpentine belt at an additional cost of course. Picked car up and the very next morning the car did it again. Took vehicle back to dealership and am now being told it needs a throttle body at an additional cost of $400. Check engine light has been on the whole time. Do they really know whats wrong with it or just shooting in dark while I spend more money. This is a safety hazard!! car was brought in while still under warranty for check engine light they were never able to diagnose a problem.

63 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2014 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 01/22/2016

Wife was driving her vehicle, all service engine lights displayed, car DE-accelerated and was able to limp into a business on a 45 mph road. Took car to dealership, all service engine lights were on display, service technician acknowledged this. Cannot duplicate problem, no problem found in diagnostic testing.

64 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 01/21/2016

While driving message read reduced engine power lost all power could not control the steering wheel! then the car shut down and continued to roll down the highway . Almost got hit by other cars from behind. Very frightening for me I almost got a panic attack. I managed to stop the car on the shoulder of the road with half of the car still blocking other cars . Car will not start. The battery is new . I have done research on social media and there's thousands of gm customers who have or are facing the same issues. Is this another cover up by gm that's continuously ignoring this problem and the consumers are paying thousands of dollars in this repair. I was told I need repairs that will cost $4000 dollars on a 2011 GMC Terrain car I got a year ago. This is ridiculous. Who is fighting for the consumers?.

65 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2010 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 01/18/2016

The contact owns a 2010 GMC Terrain. While driving various speeds, the stabilitrak warning indicator illuminated and the speed decreased to 30 mph. The failure occurred on two occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing, but the details could not be provided. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 76,000. The VIN was not available.

66 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2010 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 01/15/2016

I have had car speed up accelerate not accelerate burn oil and loss of engine power body throttle and mobile stabilizer codes and it's un safe I have children dealership wil not honor so called warranty.

67 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2010 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 12/29/2015

I ordered this vehicle in 12/2009 and received it 2/2010. There have been several recalls and most recently I had to replace cam shaft accuators and high pressure fuel pump to the tune of $1800. 00. My wife was driving home from work and the car was rattling and vibrating like it had two flat tires. Before that she informed that the service engine and stabilitrak lights had come on. There is a noise that rattles in the exhaust and I have had problems with the heater not working in the cold days of wisconsin. I am highly disappointed in GMC, who received a "bail out" now owners of this vehicle need a "bail out" from this terrible design of a vehicle.

68 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 12/11/2015

The contact owns a 2011 GMC Terrain. While driving various speeds, the stabilitrak and loss of engine power indicators illuminated on the instrument panel and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 85,000.

69 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2010 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 12/05/2015

My car is idling when it suddenly begins to idle roughly then stalls. There is a "reduced engine power" warning that appears with the check engine light, and "service stabilitrak" with the stabilitrak light. This has happened 3 times, twice when the vehicle was stationary, another time in motion, driving on a city street, and I was able to pull over before it died. In reading other complaints, this seems to be a known safety issue for 2010 GMC Terrains and should be investigated as a recall issue.

70 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 09/30/2015

My Terrain shut off the first time days after oil change while parked in a parking lot and running for 5 minutes. Days later while turning left at busy intersection to enter expressway it stalled and I barely rolled to side of road and was almost rear ended. Then a few days later while at a bus stop and ready to accelerate it stalled again. I had to restart. Dealership would not take any responsibility. Had to get over $3000 in work on engine.
