Brake Antilock Wheel Speed Sensor problems of the 1998 GMC Yukon

Two problems related to brake antilock wheel speed sensor have been reported for the 1998 GMC Yukon. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Brake Antilock Wheel Speed Sensor problem

Failure Date: 01/04/2011

The contact owns a 1998 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that the vehicle was leaking brake fluid abnormally. The contact inspected the vehicle and discovered that the brake lines were severely rusted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the entire brake line system from front to rear was replaced. The failure and current mileage was 88,000. The abs sensors failed three times. 2 Brake Antilock Wheel Speed Sensor problem

Failure Date: 03/28/2006

: the contact stated while driving 5mph and below, the abs engaged. As a result, the stopping distance was increased. There is a NHTSA recall, # 05v379000, concerning the abs. The vehicle has the same problems as in the recall; however is not included in the recall because of the VIN. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who recommended cleaning the wheel speed sensor however, the contact declined.
