Unknown Or Other problem #1

We came home from vacation to find our 2003 Yukon's battery dead. My husband jumped it and took it for a ride. It wouldn't run over 20 mph. The "reduced engine power" light is on. He shut it off and it's running ok right now. I check out a couple of forums on this problem. I'm afraid to drive it because endless numbers of consumers report the same problem coming back even when they have had it serviced by the dealer. This problem seems to come without any notice to the driver and has almost cause accidents. Several people have claim to be on the highway going the speed limit when their car suddenly drops to 20-30 mph. GMC does not seem to be overly concerned with this problem and has no recalls on it.

Unknown Or Other problem #2

This is the second time for this problem to occur with this vehicle. I filed a complaint ( 10398842 ) with your department on 05/03/2011. Since that date, we drove the vehicle to dallas, TX for a convention with no vehicle problems. Then on June 5th, we were returning from houston when the vehicle without any warning gave a message that the engine was going to reduced power while we were driving in traffic. We had to work our way to a safe area to park because we were a hazard to other drivers. This afternoon I called general motors to get some response to this problem. I was told again that the engine was protecting itself from damage. Again, I asked if it was more important to protect the engine than the occupants, the representative was rather testy about the issue. There was no response when I said that no automobile in America should shut down in traffic for a non emergency. Especially since the driver looses control of the operation of the vehicle. I have a picture of the instrument cluster during the reduced power interval which shows that all guages were normal so there was no reason to expect any issues with the vehicle. The engine was at 500 rpm and would not gain speed. This is causing us to fear driving this vehicle. In any case, I cannot see any reason for any vehicle on the american roads to be under the control of itself while in traffic. The passengers should be the primary concern. I hope you can get to the botton of this before an accident occurs with this vehicle. If there isn't a current recall on this vehicle for this problem, should there be? this is a low mileage well maintained vehicle.

Unknown Or Other problem #3

"reduced engine power/stalility control disengaged" message displayed, engine went to idle and would not exceed 5-10 mph. Traffic from behind served to avoid decelerating vehicle. I understand this is something that is somewhat common with these gm models. The possibility of rear end collisions may be experienced due to rapid deceleration due to loss of power. Happened intermittently again during the day. It clears itself after the vehicle sits for a while but there is no warning when it might happen again. Information received form various forums state it is believed to be within the wiring harness for the throttle position sensor.

Unknown Or Other problem #4

2003 Yukon denali. Reduced enginie power while driving down the interstate, highway and or street. No matter what the speed without warning the power shuts down and you have no choice but to try to get the side and turn off the key and let it sit. Then try again. I have had it in the shop six times over the past three months still not repaired and ongoing hazard to me and whoever is in the vehicle with me or behind me. Help please.

Unknown Or Other problem #5

2003 Yukon xl rear glass hinge (driver's side) failed while driving. Heard whistling sound, didn't know what it was, stopped at home depot and rear glass hatch wouldn't close after I'd opened it. Hinge itself appears to be intact, just debonded/dewelded from the glass. Gm wants $1100 to replace with a different window- the original design like the one that failed has been 'improved upon' and is no longer available. What's funny is that there's a recall for suburbans of the same year, but not Yukon xls even though it's the same part. . .

Unknown Or Other problem #6

Vibration of steering wheel and pedals at idle on 2003 GMC Yukon xl 5. 3l. Dealer states cleaning throttle body will fix, had dealer do cleaning still idles rough and still vibrates, dealer then states its a characteristic of the vehicle.

Unknown Or Other problem #7

Reduced engine power, stability system disabled.

Unknown Or Other problem #8

Our Yukon xl has a severe reverberation inside the cabin that is accentuated when going over bumps or accelerating up hills. We have gone to the dealer twice and they are currently claiming that it is because the cabin is so long. After 15 minutes in the vehicle it becomes annoying to intolerable.

Unknown Or Other problem #9

While driving intermittently the engine light comes on, vehicle vibrates and speed will decrease to 30 mph all at the same time. The dealership can not locate problem, but thinks it has to do with the throttle body. Please provide more details.

Unknown Or Other problem #10

Consumer states that while driving without warning the vehicle will accelerate and it will be hard for the consumer to get control of the vehicle to decelerate. Dealer notified. Mr.
