1 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 12/10/2018

About a month a ago my 2003 Yukon xl all of a sudden would not drive over15 miles an hr in rush hour traffic. I took the truck to the shop to have diagnostics ran. I was told it was the battery. The truck ran for about a month then all of a sudden the battery was back dead. Returned the truck back to the shop another battery was put in. It's been about another month. This time I was driving from miami to jacksonville and the truck lost power 100 miles outside jacksonville on I-95 north. It had all power just would not crank. Had it towed to the shop now I'm being to there's a problem with electrical.

2 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 11/26/2018

Loss of power without warning , while on highway. From 65mph to 0 without warning. Almost caused a crash pile up. . . . Was almost rear ended. Very dangerous. . . Whole family children and all was in the vehicle.

3 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 03/17/2018

I have a 2003 Yukon denali I purchased and it has given me the reduced engine power light and almost had a few accidents on the highway because it drops the speed to 20 mph also it has the check engine codes as p0120 and p2135 I have been aware that gm has not found a solution to this and wanted to see if there is any recalls as I am very afraid of being in a very serious accident with my children in the car.

4 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2018

The cluster from all the dashboard has stop working the speedometer the gauges everything.

5 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2017

There is no warning code for the hydraulic brake booster when it starts to go bad that shows up on the abs/odb scanner. You will be driving and all of the sudden your steering gets stiff, the brake pedal is hard to press and you can't stop as good as your used to in the vehicle. This issue can cause accidents if someone stops suddenly in front of you.

6 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 10/27/2016

The contact owns a 2003 GMC Yukon xl. While driving 35 mph, the stability control failed and the vehicle lost power. The stability control active warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact mentioned that there was also a grinding sound. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 195,633.

7 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 07/26/2016

The stability control warning has come on several times on my vehicle. The brakes do not work, as you have to push all the way to the floor and sometimes it takes time before the vehicle stops. I have had brake lines repairs and the problem still is there. We cannot use vehicle until the issue is resolved. Our mechanic advised us to file a complaint on this issue because it is an active issue with GMC denali Yukon's for years. We need assistance to have this resolved to use our vehicle.

8 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 11/13/2015

Speedometer randomly sticks, or accelerates to maximum. Oil pressure gauges max out as well. Very dangerous to drive with no concept of speed, and also very illegal. When I stop the vehicle, I can turn off the engine. If I continue to turn the key 90% (but not enough to start the engine), and let off, the gauges will drop up to 5%. After 5 minutes of resetting the instruments, the gauges will reset. However, the next time I drive I might be going through a school zone at 40 instead of 25, but my speedometer says 80. Clearly unsafe.

9 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 07/22/2015

Just bought car electrical has been acting up for a while now (30 days) and now dash has gone out sunroof wont open pr close and driver side passenger window doesnt work auto store wont fix or take back car.

10 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2015

Antilock brakes began to apply themselves in right hand turns going up and down hill at speeds up to 45 mph. Almost causes me to loose control of vehicle. Had to take to hurricane Chevrolet several times to get fixed cost almost $4000.

11 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 09/26/2014

We were driving up in the mountains and we lost power briefly to the engine. The lights flickered and the dash board went out. Then the loss of engine power came on and the stability/traction came on too. This has happened weekly for the last two years. This last time was alarming since we were coming down a mountain in a storm and could have been stranded up there with no running vehicle to keep us warm. This needs to get a recall or investigation going on these vehicles. If you google this issue you will see that there are hundreds if not thousands of people that are affected with this issue. It will kill people if they expect to have power to get through an intersection fast enough and the vehicle gives out on them.

12 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2014

My brakes would engage but they will not disengaged and my brakes are buringing and smelling like burnt rubber. Breaks are also sticking. The electrical system keeps blinking on and off. Replace fuse but still not working. Not displaying the correct speed on dash board I'm going slower than the speed say.

13 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/13/2014

I was driving down the road to work and I hit the brakes and the brake pedal was not firm. I hit the brake pedal again and the brake pedal went to the floor. I had a hard time stopping the big SUV and would have hit another car had this happened at a stop light or anywhere where I have to rely on my brakes as the stopping distance was easily quadrupled if not more.

14 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/07/2014

Intermittently at hwy and side road speeds, truck will shut down, check engine light comes on and extremely rough idle and loss of engine power occurs. Have followed all recommended fixes but problem persists. Engine code 1516, throttle position sensor out f range +- . 05 volts. Scary problem, as this occurs without warning and causes immediate loss of speed. Many many complaints posted on the internet of this same problem but no GMC recommended fixes or assistance. Refuse to take this to a dealer and let them poke around at $95 / hour and or to throw parts at truck in hopes of correcting. GMC needs to address this potentially fatal problem.

15 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2014

Vehicle went into reduced engine power and stabiltrak warning light came on. Reduced speed from 60 to 10mph. Now occurs on a regular basis.

16 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 10/28/2013

Wife driving truck to work " reduced engine power", message came on the dash, and also said traction control was disabled. Power was reduced gradually to ten miles per hour. She floored the gas, nothing. Turned it off, restarted it, nothing. Engine light and traction disabled lighted were illuminated. Also the rear mirror temperature display flickers all the time. Drl burn out almost daily. Gmcs have major electrical issues before people start dying. Imagine a car shutting down on you while on the highway. That an accident waiting to happen. The rear wiper works when it feels like working, there is also a message about fixing the ride control. For all the bail money GMC got, they should recall these mistakes they made.

17 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 04/13/2013

The seat belts in my 2003 GMC Yukon denali keep coming unbuckled. No matter how many I replace. Also I've have a problem with the traction control coming on. It's almost caused a couple of accidents. I've taken the vehicle to the GMC dealership and they've informed me that they've come across this issue a number of times and have never fixed the issue and to just tap my gas petal twice to take the vehicle out of the traction control.

18 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 12/11/2012

Driving 65 mph on the highway and all of a sudden my car loses power. This is very dangerous! the dash says reduced engine power. Engine light comes on. Codes for the problem p0120, p0171, p0174, p0300, p2135. I got everything done that was suggested the codes are gone and it's still happening!! not sure what the GMC dealership is up to but they don't have a clue to what's causing it or how to fix it!.

19 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 10/25/2012

The service engine light and traction control turn on and the information center on my cluster reads "engine power reduced" and "stability system disable", then my speed is reduced and only runs between ten and twenty miles per hour. I have to turn off my truck and turn it back on after a few minutes to continue, but this problem has happened on a daily basis. I think GMC is responsible for this and more similar problems.

20 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2011

Hello, when im driving down the road the reduced engine light comes on. This is very dangerous since it also happens on the highway. When I shut the car off and let it sit for 3 or 4 min and restart it will happen again about 2 miles down the road. GMC says they know about the issue but they do not have a fix for it. I have taken it to several shops and they say that gm says the same thing ( we know about the issue but do not have a fix for it). There should be a recall on these vehicles do to this happening and could cause a major accident. There are alot of other ppl having this same issue. Thanks.

21 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 06/13/2011

The contact owns a 2003 GMC Yukon. While driving various speeds, the reduced engine power and stability system disabled indicators illumianted on the instrument panel. The vehicle suddenly experienced a loss in acceleration. The failure recurred for a span of three years. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

22 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 09/10/2009

I have had multiple ongoing electrical issues with this vehicle. Starting in 2005, the exterior electronics (I. E. Signal lights, stop lights, head lights, etc) began to malfunction. For example, I would trigger the signal for one direction and all of the signals for all directions would trigger. . . Even pressing the breaks triggered all of the exterior signals. The dealer had a hard time isolating my problem, but after several visits, the dealer was finally able to diagnose and rectify it. . . They isolated it to a junction box where all of the electronics terminate. However, by this time, my vehicle was out of warranty, so I had to cover the costs for reparing the problem myself. My most recent issues, which, by the way, seem to be common issues, are triggered by a message stating, "reduced engine power". This particular issue does not always render the same results. . . Sometimes the vehicle's speed will significatly decrease to nearly a halt, but other times I may just experience increased idling of the engine, even if I am at a complete stop. My understanding, according to hundreds of reports that I have read on the message boards, is that this issue is caused by either a wiring harness that leads from the excellerator to the throttle body or it's a defective throttle body alltogether. I have experienced intermittent electrical problems with my windows as well, but this appears to be a minor issue when compared to the other two that I addressed above. I will file a formal complaint with GMC corporate office today and see where that goes.

23 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 05/25/2009

My wife was driving 75 mph on the interstate when she heard a "ding" and the information center said "service stability" "engine power reduced" it then took all engine power from the vehicle immediately causing it to slow to a very unsafe 20 mph almost instantly and caused her to narrowly avoid being hit from behind. This happened several more times. We took the vehicle in for service and were told we needed a new throttle body cable which we bought and had them install, but the problem has never gone away. I have read many many complaints about this on the internet but after years of complaining nothing has been done. Does someone have to die before something is done? it certainly seems like it. I filed a complaint with the government several years ago about this issue and I am sure many others have as well. Nothing has ever been done. To cap it off, and the reason I am on this again, is because this past weekend I rented a Buick enclave from budget rental cars in little rock arkansas. This was a new vehicle that had only 5 miles on it when I left the lot. At around 65 miles later the vehicle did the same exact thing, and reduced my speed to 25 with an 18 wheeler behind me that had to swerve to miss me as I swerved to the shoulder to get out of the way. Please do something before someone is killed!!!.

24 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 12/08/2008

December 2008- instrument cluster went out- speedometer no longer working December 2008- battery gauge no longer working March 2009- stabilitrak issues. . . Sometimes the stabilitrak would work and at times it would not work July 2009 to January 2010- reduced engine power (almost cause 2 wrecks) could not perform a diagnosis. . . Could not read computer. Changed fuel pump. No more reduced engine power message August 2011- wheel bearing issues. Reduced engine power (almost caused wreck. . . Backed up traffic) September 2011- gas pedal sticking November 2011- reduced engine power. . . Happens 5 times within a 30 mile trip. Attempted to resolve problem several times, but running out of options. Have to kill car in middle of highway or intersection to get car to work properly.

25 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2007

When driving at low speeds (less than 10 miles per hour) or starting from a stop, the traction control will automatically engage when the gas pedal is applied. When the traction control engages, a total loss of input to the engine results and the vehicle does not move (it essentially stalls). I was almost struck in an intersection while waiting to make a left turn on a green light in early December of 2011. I was stopped in the middle of the intersection waiting to turn left. When I attempted to turn left, I gave the gas pedal some input, the traction control engaged, and my vehicle stopped because there was no engine input and was almost hit by an on-coming car. Luckily, this had happened before and I knew to either floor the gas pedal or to let off the gas entirely and then floor it again to get the traction control to disengage and get power to the engine. Another related issue is the abs engaging for no reason. This also happens at low speeds (less than 10 mph). When the abs engages, the vehicle will travel another two to three feet prior to stopping. The abs issue resulted in my hitting a pole in a parking lot. It took several years to finally determine what the issue was and it turns out it was a result of front wheel speed sensor corrosion and an increased air gap between the wheel speed sensor and the reluctor ring due to rust and debris built up on the sensor mounting surface. Gm acknowledged this with a safety recall (#05068c: product safety) for some vehicle model years 1999-2002. This is a serious safety issue and gm fails to recognize that vehicles like mine (a 2003) and even later models have the same problem. What is even more frustrating is that the dealership could not properly diagnose the problem for several years because they could not "replicate the problem . " I would encourage the nhsta to investigate this issue.
