1 Speedometer/odometer Failure problem

Failure Date: 10/05/2011

Speedometer failed to function, gave inconsistent, incorrect speed. Gm dealer reports this as common and acknowledged by gm in this year/model, such that gm extended warranty to 72,000 miles. Since this was noticed past 72,000, gm offers to fix, for a substantial fee. Not knowing speed, or being misled by the speedometer, is a safety hazard.

2 Speedometer/odometer Failure problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2007

Whilst driving on I-10 it was noted the indicated speed was less than posted. I accelerated , but the indicated speed did not increase. By the time I realized the speedometer was reading incorrectly I was zooming past other traffic. I was likely traveling 90 mph in the 70 mph zone. This was an extremely unsafe event. I took the vehicle to the dealer, and was told speedometer cluster failures were very common in 2003 and 2004 gm/GMC vehicles, but there was no recall. The dealer replaced the instrument cluster . He told me if he had a nickel for every one he replaced he would be a rich man.

3 Speedometer/odometer Failure problem

Failure Date: 01/31/2007

- the contact stated that the speedometer was sticking and reported the incorrect vehicle speed on a 2004 GMC Yukon denali. Occasionally, while driving on the highway or in the city the speedometer failed at 40 mph.
