1 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 12/22/2015

While driving I noticed that the speedometer needle was erratic going from zero to 120 mph. When I stopped the needle was stuck at 30 mph. At the same time the gear shift indicator light went from dull to non existent preventing me from knowing what gear I was in. This was happening sporadically but now the speedometer needle is always on zero and the gear shift indicator is never lit. I saw online that there has been a recall for the instrument panel for the same speedometer problem I am having but the recall ended with 2004 vehicles even though there is a lot of complaints online with the 2005 models also. I saw a recall (#05023) for the gear shift indicator light. I tried calling GMC to have it fixed and was told it is VIN specific. I explained that the recall did not specify specific VIN numbers. Was rudely told I am out of luck. I tried to address both issues with GMC to no avail. They don't want to know when there is a problem. Maybe they will listen when someone is killed. I just hope it is not me!.

2 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2015

A known issue and previous recall for lighted identification of gear shift selector that tells you what gear the car is in. Light burns out are stops functioning, result you have no idea of the gear you are in. Supposedly my VIN did not fall within the recall range. Internet discloses many other owners with same problem not include in previous recall. A expanded recall needs to be made to include any vehicles that have this known issue. This includes a number of GMC products, sierra, Yukon etc. All dealer stated it was not within recall range. So I am stuck with a dangers vehicle that you can not tell what gear the vehicle is shifted in. Indicator does not light in stopped or moving position! light faded, faded and finally failed 3 months ago!.

3 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 12/02/2014

The airbag error lights are on. Mechanic says the front airbag sensors went bad. The horn does not work. The dash lights are burnt out. Many of the steering wheel control button lights are burnt out. The rear windshield wiper motor is burnt out. The fuel pump makes vibrating noises.

4 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2014

Yesterday I started my vehicle and turned on the a/c. The a/c blower was blowing at the highest setting regardless of the control setting. I turned the a/c off and the blower remained on. I turned the ignition off and the blower continued to run. The blower continued to run for approximately 8 minutes while my husband researched online how to get it to stop. The blower did not stop running until my husband removed the fuse. If my husband would not have been with me the blower would have continuously ran, causing it to overheat, and possibly causing a fire. Also, we have digital gear lights on our dash. Those lights started periodically dimming several years ago and have since gone out completely, other than the seldom random occasion, so we can no longer read what gear the vehicle is in. We took the vehicle to the dealership where it was purchased and asked what the cause was and how to repair it. We were told the complete instrument control panel cluster would need to be replaced at the cost of $350 for the panel alone. After doing some research of my own, I have come to find out this seems to be a very common problem. Not knowing what gear you are in is definitely a safety issue that needs to be handled by gm.

5 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2009

2005 GMC Yukon xl, dashboard dimmer switch/interior light switch; does not illuminate in the dark. This presents a significant safety issue in that it does not allow the driver to adjust the dashboard lighting level or turn on interior lights in the dark. There have been repeated attempts to remedy the situation by the dealer, the conclusion of the dealer now is that illumination is not allowed by the way the switch was engineered.

6 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 06/17/2005

June 16, 2005 my wife and I purchased a new 2005 GMC Yukon denali. Excited to have our new vehicle we figured everything must work, it's new. We found out the next day non of the functions in the memory package worked. We called the salesman who insisted we were not operating it correctly. The daytime running lights also did not work. I took the truck back to the dealer on 6/20/05 and the salesman took in into service after he could not figure it out. Service did not know what was wrong either. Now our brand new 40+ thousand dollar truck is sitting at jkoons pontiac-GMC in virginia and they have no clue whats wrong.
