4 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem

Failure Date: 12/12/2012

It was determined that the drivers side exhaust manifold bolts were snapped off from the left side of the engine and it was only being held on by 2 of the original bolts. This could have fully broken off while the vehicle was in motion and jammed into my steering shaft! after a very simple google search about gm 6. 0 engine exhaust bolts snapping off, I discovered this has happened to thousands of engines of the 4. 8, 5. 3, and 6. 0 size.

5 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2012

The contact owns a 2005 GMC Yukon xl. The contact stated that there was a flapping noise that came from the exhaust. There were exhaust fumes inside the cabin of the vehicle as well. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where they determined that the manifold bolts were corroded fractured. The failure had also occurred in the past. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 67,000. The current mileage was 69,000.

6 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2011

I am one of the many reporting broken exhaust manifold bolts on my truck. I had 3 studs rattle out, 2 break off inside head gasket and only 1 remain in tact. Truck is in great condition otherwise and has had excellent service record. Only problem now it is costing me $2500 to pull engine and send it to a machine shop to have the final stud removed from head with only 170000 km's on it this is ludicrous. I am a very unhappy customer that this is not a recall as it happens to almost all of these trucks between 09 and 2007. . Read more...
