Codes p1516, p2135, and p0120 have returned for a third time. I was driving and my car went into reduced power mode. Luckily, I was just a mile away from home and limped my car home. I've since cleaned the mass air flow sensor and throttle body. I've changed out the tps and acceleration sensor. I've checked all my grounds and these codes keep coming back. I've noticed other people having this same issues which is why I did the steps listed above. I've taken it to a mechanic who said that I did every step they've would have done to troubleshoot this problem. Someone from gm needs to this issue, as I am not the only one that this is occurring to.
My vehicle was in motion driving on the freeway at 70 mph when all of the sudden my car lost power to 30 mph all the way down to 5 mph. I pressed on the accelerator trying to gain speed without success the car did not accelerate more than 30 mph, no matter how much I pressed on the accelerator. When I looked down at the dashboard I saw two warning lights go off "stability sys disabled" followed by "reduced engine power" luckily I was able to move to safety. The road was dry and no bumps to disable stability. The traction control in this vehicle is located far from my steering wheel so I know I did not accidently hit the traction control by accident. After I was able to pull over I was advised to hit the traction control button to see if that would fix the error in the dash. That did not work. I immediately took it to the dealer concern for my safety and that of my family. The dealer has had my for several days returned my car back once stating that it was due to master air flow sensor along with the air filter once those parts were replaced I picked up my car as soon as I picked up the car and drove it around the corner I experienced the same issue. I drove it back to the dealer at 5 mph as I was not able to go any faster no mater how much I pressed on the accelerator. 2nd time the car was returned to me I was told it was just the butterfly in the throttle body and that it was replaced for a new one. I was driving away and got just a little farther than the first time when I got the same error message again I drove it back to the dealer and they told me it was a faulty throttle body they replaced that but its still having issues. I believe this to be a safety hazard while driving I want this noted in case there is a major accident with fatalities.
From the stopped position gas pedal goes dead at accelleration. This is super dangerous when moving onto a traffic situation. The vechicle stall and a gringding sound appears. This happen I ntermitently. GMC recalled outh GMC Yukons to correct this deffect but not mine. Please help.
Traction control is coming on when I take off from a complete stop causing the vehicle to lose speed. I was almost in an accident because of this!.
While driving my SUV on the freeway, the abs ,traction controll, brake lite on the instrument cluster started flashing and chiming. Service stability was flashing on the dic. The dealer said the abs module needs to be replaced. There is a loss of hvac controll ,no ac and ventillation or heating, loss of cruise control. Please advice.
When taking off from a stop or at a slow speed the car stalls like its running out of gas, when that happens on the diagnostic center on the car reads "traction active", and then car behind me blows their horn telling me to move, then the car takes off. Its really scary when I'm in the middle of traffic in the intersection or trying to make a left turn and trying to go and it stalls. Sooner or later someone is going to run into the back of me or when I'm in the intersection I will be t-bone and someone is going to get killed or seriously injured. I took it to the gm repair center at art moran 9/10/2015 and they tell me there's nothing wrong. The service advisor reggie garrett ask if their was a certain time it would act like this and I told him it seems like when its hot outside is when I notice it. Then, the very next morning about a half mile into the drive it did the same thing. So I called reggie up and told him it doesn't make a difference if its hot outside or cool it does the same thing, and this is all while I'm on my way over to their repair shop it did this 7 time all at dead stops or slow speeds. Once I made it to the shop I ask reggie to get his tech. To drive it with his scanner plugged in, but he suggested I drive it but when it did it the scanner didn't record it. I going back there this week and on the way I'm going to record it on camera in an effort to document what going on.
On April 2 2015 I experienced "reduced engine power" while taking my daughter to urgent care. The vehicle has had over $2000 work with many different repairmen involved. Gm advised they were sorry but no recalls - nothing they would do to help. Numerous times, we have come close to being involved in an accident when it occurs. We will be driving at normal highway speed, hear a bing and see reduced engine power flash on display. Vehicle will immediately go from original speed to no more than 30-40 mph - no warning. It is unsafe to be on a busy road as anyone could rear end us, killing my family.
Electronic stability control activates and deactivates randomly. Unsure as to the safety of this random actions, but it does effect the control of the vehicle.
Electronic stability control activates randomly. While accelerating from a complete stop the vehicle goes into traction control or reduced engine power. Stalling in the middle of intersections or at stop lights car behind expects you to move and you cant. You have to either turn car off and back on or put in netural to try and get your car to go this is a very dangerous problem that leaves you feeling helpless and no control of your vechical I pray that this is looked into before someone gets hurt I also reported this to GMC.
When accelerating from a stop the electronic control system kick in bringing the vehicle to a stop! this is very dangerous while in traffic and is a huge safety concern. Dealer suggest replacing the brake sensor or disabling it. First occurrence of this event the vehicle had 35k miles. This should be a recall given the implications of a faulty system.
Reduced engine power forced the vehicle to remain under 25 mph on a busy road where I was unable to pull off due to lack of shoulder. Restart of the vehicle after I came to a place I could stop, yielded the same error and lack of power.
The contact owns a 2006 GMC Yukon denali xl 2500. The contact was driving 65 mph when the abs warning indicator lamp illuminated. The vehicle was taken for repair where the contact learned that the electronic brake control module was discontinued. The vehicle was not diagnosed and the manufacturer was made aware of the potential issue. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000. The VIN was unavailable.
When I am starting out or turning a corner the vehicle will intermittently bog down. This has been going on for about 5-6 years. I had taken it to a dealership in columbus ohio when it first happened and they told me it was a problem in the steering column but not covered under warranty or recall. It was going to cost me $300 to have fixed. This sounds very similar to the two complaints made 1/11/2010 NHTSA id#10299018 and 9/21/2015 NHTSA id#10766680. This has something to do with the stabilitrak system. This is a very dangerous situation and should have been fixed by a dealership no questions asked. I just disconnect it at the dash and put up with the yellow warning light. For a gm vehicle that listed for $58,735 11 years ago I am very disappointed with gm. The sunroof has not worked for years ( a $1,000 fix item) replaced the fan blower motor (somewhere around $400+) and I only have 109,000 miles on it. The noted items occurring in the 50-75,000 mile range. I can see why Honda, Acura, Toyota and Lexus have such a great following. They lead and I will follow with my next vehicle.
Intermittently, when my 2006 GMC Yukon denali xl is at a stop light or sign and I am driving less than 10mph and I go to accelerate (not spinning the tires and not on wet or slippery surfaces) the "traction active" message displays and I lose all power for a couple of seconds. This many times has left me in the middle of an intersection with on-coming traffic. I have googled this traction active and there are many articles from other Yukon owners stating they have the exact same issue that I am having. I printed off 9 pages and took to my dealer/service department (simmons rockwell in bath, NY) and after looking at the vehicle, they said there was nothing wrong with it. I even supplied them with an abs recall document id # 1819672 of which the subject is product safety front wheel speed sensor corrosion #05068b. These vehicles may have a condition permitting corrosion to occur between the front hub/bearing assembly and the wheel speed sensor. If the brakes are applied while the vehicle is traveling at a speed of greater than 3. 7 mph but less than 10 mph, the corrosion may cause an unwanted anti-lock brake system activation. If this condition occurred where stopping distance is limited, a crash could occur. ¿ my dealer said the computer didn't show any issues, but as soon as I drove home it happened again. I don't think my dealer even looked at the documents I provided to them to help them diagnose the issue. This is a major safety concern and I wonder how many other people with GMC Yukons are having the same issue and have just not done anything about it.
The first time this happened I was driving at approx. 45 mph on secondary road when all lights dimmed and the vehicle power went down to almost nothing. The power steering and brakes went out and I had to pull off of the highway. I turned the ignition off and waited a few minutes, then re-started which seemed to have re-set things. It ran ok to my destination. But since then (a year or so) it bogs down when starting out from idle such as a traffic light, and the lights dim. At the same time, it makes a grinding sound as if from the brakes and the brake peddle becomes stiff as though it is trying to offset my braking. When this happens the stability indicator states "traction active". Once the vehicle is moving again, it will go off and the vehicle will act normally. I discovered that manually over-riding the traction (shutting it off), it eliminates the hesitation. But it still makes the grinding/groaning sound along with the brake issue. Once is gets up to speed, everything is fine. All of this is just on starting out after a stop. We have heard others that have the same problem, but have not been able to get it resolved. It appears to be a common problem, but no recalls have been issues to my knowledge. It is a real danger when trying to start onto a highway or intersection.
Periodic "traction active" indicator light along with gas pedal inoperable. Became more frequent and during long road trip for work, almost got into 3 accidents. Only occurs when starting out or during acceleration while going slow. Twice at stop sign while crossing busy intersections, vehicle died in middle of intersection when pulling out for several seconds. Caused traffic to stop and almost had collision. Once happened while making left turn at intersection. Same results. Saw many similar complaints on forums about GMC Yukon. Usually happens after 40k (warranty expired) I just went over 40k last week. Seems like problem started back in 2003 version, from all other complaints I read about. Repair: dealer found incorrect readings from right front wheel speed sensor, sensor only available as part of rf hub assy. Pn 015233113 $377. 36 ($600+ installed) I explained all other complaining about same problem and how this is a very big safety issue. Dealer said they can do nothing.
While accelerating from a complete stop the the vehicle goes into traction control for no reason stalling in the middle of the intersection. The display flashes traction active even though the pavement is dry and free of loose debris. You have to let the accelerator go and re-accelerate to deactivate the traction control, leaving you stalled in the middle of the intersection. Gm had a recall for large suvs and pick-ups with a very similar problem, the only differance was the display flashed an abs fault but the repair for that recall was exactly the same as for the traction active fault. Abs is part of the traction control system, so just because gm found a way to throw a different code for the exact same problem they're not obligated to take care of this potentially very dangerous problem that leaves you in no control of your vehicle in the middle of an intersection while moving from a stop light or stop sign. Please look into this before somebody gets hurt or dead from getting t-boned because they can't get out the way.
