1 Speed Sensor problem

Failure Date: 01/11/2010

Intermittently, when my 2006 GMC Yukon denali xl is at a stop light or sign and I am driving less than 10mph and I go to accelerate (not spinning the tires and not on wet or slippery surfaces) the "traction active" message displays and I lose all power for a couple of seconds. This many times has left me in the middle of an intersection with on-coming traffic. I have googled this traction active and there are many articles from other Yukon owners stating they have the exact same issue that I am having. I printed off 9 pages and took to my dealer/service department (simmons rockwell in bath, NY) and after looking at the vehicle, they said there was nothing wrong with it. I even supplied them with an abs recall document id # 1819672 of which the subject is product safety front wheel speed sensor corrosion #05068b. These vehicles may have a condition permitting corrosion to occur between the front hub/bearing assembly and the wheel speed sensor. If the brakes are applied while the vehicle is traveling at a speed of greater than 3. 7 mph but less than 10 mph, the corrosion may cause an unwanted anti-lock brake system activation. If this condition occurred where stopping distance is limited, a crash could occur. ¿ my dealer said the computer didn't show any issues, but as soon as I drove home it happened again. I don't think my dealer even looked at the documents I provided to them to help them diagnose the issue. This is a major safety concern and I wonder how many other people with GMC Yukons are having the same issue and have just not done anything about it.

2 Speed Sensor problem

Failure Date: 06/23/2008

Periodic "traction active" indicator light along with gas pedal inoperable. Became more frequent and during long road trip for work, almost got into 3 accidents. Only occurs when starting out or during acceleration while going slow. Twice at stop sign while crossing busy intersections, vehicle died in middle of intersection when pulling out for several seconds. Caused traffic to stop and almost had collision. Once happened while making left turn at intersection. Same results. Saw many similar complaints on forums about GMC Yukon. Usually happens after 40k (warranty expired) I just went over 40k last week. Seems like problem started back in 2003 version, from all other complaints I read about. Repair: dealer found incorrect readings from right front wheel speed sensor, sensor only available as part of rf hub assy. Pn 015233113 $377. 36 ($600+ installed) I explained all other complaining about same problem and how this is a very big safety issue. Dealer said they can do nothing.
