My dash is cracked.
2007 Yukon xl 1500 cracks in dash and peeling clear coat.
When we purchased the vehicle approx. 3. 5 years ago, it had a small crack in the dashboard. Last December, it was noticed that the crack had gotten much bigger, and now a second crack has been noted. This is becoming a major safety concern, as the dash may shatter in a front-end collision with airbag deployment. Upon doing research on;ine, I found that I am not alone. There are thousands of reports of similar issues among similar years and models. Please help me keep my family safe by requiring gm to provide a fix or replacement. Thank you!.
The dashboard has cracked in 2 places, 1 in front of the drivers seat, and the other in front of the passenger seat by the airbag. It was already cracked before I bought the vehicle used, but has gotten worse living on a dirt road.
Crack in dash, driver's side.
Have a Yukon and the dash board is cracked at both sides of airbag on passenger side and above the gauge cluster. The plastic is very brittle and my concerns is if there was ever a car wreck and the airbags deployed it would send plastic projectiles throughout vehicle which the vehicle is used to carry my 1 and 2 year old children daily. I feel this should be a defect or a recall considering almost all these vehicles all crack in the same spot I feel it was a poor design by GMC and at over 1000 dollars to have it fixed is just crazy . Thanks for your time.
Dash cracked by passenger air bag and above dash board on drivers side-continuing to grow in size on drivers side--replace one already in 2011 under warranty(car was 5years old)- now five years later same cracks-- started claim with gm assistance, was told to go to dealer for pictures and to determine if it was a defect or my fault-- service manager proceeded to tell me when I went in that he had the same 2007 Yukon with the same dash cracks-a week later I was told sorry your vehicle is out of warranty we can do nothing for you. I was also told that even if they could do something the part was no longer available-- I called the same dealerships parts department and guess what I could get the replacement the next day!! called the 800 number to let them know--they said sorry you where told that but still we can not do anything for you. I proceeded to ask if they thought a dash should only last 5 years, to which she said no but still could not help me. I have own a chevy tahoe, a chevy suburban and numerous chevy vehicles- I think with customer service like theres it is time to take my money else where!.
Cracked dash.
Takata recall, cracks in the dash that run to the air bags on the dash. The center speaker is mounted to the plastic dash and move with the road vibration which breaks the dash along with the uv radiation that weakens the plastic. . The dash could splinter in a crash and wound or kill a passenger.
A large crack appeared on my dashboard on September 3, 2016, right above the steering wheel column. I used super glue to try and keep the crack from getting larger. Another, smaller, crack opened up on the passenger side on November 7, 2016, right above the airbag.
Dashboard cracked.
2 cracks in the dashboard of my 2007 GMC Yukon denali - between the speaker and passenger airbag and above the steering wheel. It also makes a squeaky rattling noise while I am driving as the broken pieces bounce. I did nothing to break it, it cracked on its own.
Dash board cracks. While driving dash is shaking up and down.

Takata recall and defective dashboard. 2007 GMC Yukon was purchased used with over 100k. Shortly after my vehicle was purchased in 2015 the dashboard literally caved in while driving on a paved street. After much research and speaking with fellow Yukon and tahoe owners, I determined the problem is widespread and consistent in terms of cracking areas and magnitude. I called GMC and was told they would consider subsidizing a portion of the repair cost but I had to get an estimate from a local GMC service center. After contacting the GMC service center I was told a diagnostic fee would apply for a repair quote, to which I disagreed given the need for an estimate only. I spoke once more with GMC stating I would not pay a diagnostic fee given the nature of the request and unknown remedy. At the present moment the air bags are also under recall but unavailable. The cracking dashboard and defective air bags create a volatile safety situation for my family and I. All this information has been shared with GMC via a certified letter, to which they sent a letter stating I should call if my request has not been resolved. The call resulted in a notice that I alone am fully responsible for the defective and hazardous dashboard and no assistance would be provided. I completely acknowledge the state of the warranty, however, the sheer numbers of this occurrence clearly indicate the dashboards are defective.
The dash is cracked and broken in multiple places on both sides of the dash. Most concerning is the crack next to the airbag panel. If the airbag were to deploy, will it still work, and what will happen to the dash when it explodes out. The crack was first noticed last fall and just gotten worse since then.
The contact owns a 2007 GMC Yukon. While parked and/or driving at any speed, the chrome finish on all four of the interior door handles flaked and the factory edging was extremely rough. The contact's hand had been cut on the door handle due to the rough edging. In addition, the dashboard cracked and the plastic near the defroster had crumbled completely. The vehicle was driven to the dealer, but was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000.
Tl- the contact owns a 2007 GMC yucon. The contact stated that the vehicle has two separate cracks on the dash, one located on the passenger side near the airbag, the other one located on the hump above the instrument panel. The cracks progress and got worst till it collapsed. It was not repaired. The manufacturer were notified of the failure. Jo.
Dash has over 6 cracks and pieces broken off the dash itself.
Having alot of issues with traction control light coming on and off causing my truck to either shut off/stall or just not turn on than the check engine came on arggg. I took to dealers was told its my throttle sensor got it replaced $$750. 00 ughh then it happened again and then when I try and turn it on again it will flash traction light on and off so I turn it off then turn it on and it goes away, later comes on then off random times I checked this site since I seen news and seen other people having the same issue. And my cruise control wont kick in also my front dash has cracked on top of the odometer and it does make me worry if I ever get into an accident will the dash shatter completely?? other then that I love this truck really I do !! however dear gm stop being stingy and pay for your mistakes!.
The dashboard cracked directly above the steering wheel in 2014 and now has 2 other cracks on passenger side leading to airbag that occurred recently. Cracks occurred when in motion over slight bumps.
My dash has cracked twice on my 2007 GMC Yukon. The first time was around the air bag and the dealer replaced it in 2011. Now January 2014, the dash is cracked again around the air bag. Took into the dealer and they said GMC will not replace because of the mileage of the vehicle, which is 110,001. However the dealer offered to give me $2,000. 00 toward a new vehicle. Really!! if you were going to give me $2,000. 00 then replace my dash! my concern is if the dash is cracked what keeps the air bag from not deploying at any time. This is a safety hazard as I see it. I hope that you can do something to make them replace the dash. Please help.
Tl- the contact owns a 2007 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that the vehicles dash was cracked over main dash and where to air bag would deploy from. The failure did not cause any warning indicator to illuminate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where they did not remedy the repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was approximately 100,000. Kh.
My 2007 Yukon denali dash has cracked in 2 places. It is clearly a manufacturers defect due to thousands of other Yukons experiencing the exact same problems, but the dealer refuses to fix it. I am concerned that if the air bags were to deploy, there might be sharp pieces of flying plastic debris originating from the cracked areas. Yes, the cracks are annoying, but I am concerned for the safety of the driver or any passengers in the vehicle due to the structural instability of the dash.
The dashes of all gm trucks and suvs are cracking, badly. They're designed poorly and crack right around the passenger airbag deployment section. In the event of air bag deployment, it will send jagged plastic shards towards the occupants. This is completely unsafe and a serious hazard but gm refuses to correct the issue even though it has been acknowledged, hence I am filing this complaint. Simply google gm cracked dash and enjoy all the posts and videos from frustrated americans. Please help. Thank you.
Cracks in dash around airbag will cause injury with deployment. Cracks on the dash will cause I just in accident.
My SUV which I bought brand new has a couple of cracks in the dash board next to the airbag section. My concern is if there would be a accident and the airbag deployed could cause the plastic pieces of the dash to break off and become airborne and injure me or a passenger. I have researched this issue and there are plenty of complaints about the same thing. I feel that gm should put out a warning about this and replace the dash of every vehicle affected.
A large crack occurs in dash around area of airbag as well as a crack on the drivers side dash near instrument cluster.
My door handle on the rear driver passenger side had become really loose. My 5 year old son pulled the handle to open the door and the handle practically came off. The door handle is unusable and will need to be replaced. Here in hawaii the cost to replace the part is ridiculous. I purchased a 2004 Yukon brand new and loved it. When my car was totaled by a tree during bad weather, I purchased another Yukon in 2008, this time a 2007 model. Since then I have had the car stall while driving, dealer says it's ok, had the rims replaced because they were peeling, just noticed there is a crack in the plastic dashboard where the air bag is on the passenger side, the button for the rear window has fallen out and now my door handle has fallen off!!! I paid top dollar for my car and feel I paid for a "sour lemon". American car with parts manufactured in china????? I think GMC should own up to these issues and have it recalled as the truck is only 6 years old. I see rusted out beater cars from the 70's still cruising around yet all the original door handles etc. . . Are still in great working condition. What the heck!!!! I may never purchase a GMC again. . . . . . . . . . . .
The contact owns a 2007 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that the dashboard was cracked. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure was confirmed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 119,000. Updated 03/18/lj.
My vehicle has developed a crack on the dashboard above the steering wheel. I believe it could cause moisture to affect the electrical system underneath the dash area where the crack is. GMC dealerships here would not assist in replace a known defective cheap part.
I have consulted with many others who have experienced this issue as well. General motors fails to acknowledge that there's a quality concern or that there's a potential safety concern with these vehicles. This not only affects GMC Yukons, but Chevrolet tahoes and suburbans as well. The dash board is made of hard but brittle plastic. The dash boards tend to crack over time, especially near the passenger air bag opening, leaving sharp "dagger like" pieces of dash board material loose. In the event of an airbag deployment, there's a risk of these pieces being propelled by the air bag and injuring occupants of the vehicle. I've heard of this affecting vehicles from as little as 1 year old. General motors has refused to acknowledge the issue and has blatantly stated that if it were a safety problem, "the government would do something about it". Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Defective dashboards installed by gm create a safety hazard. Cracks occurred on drivers side (hump above steering wheel) and cracks in dash on both sides of airbag. If airbag deploys cracked pieces of dash could cause harm to driver and passengers in vehicle. Gm is aware of this well known problem/defect and it is very widespread with thousands or more gm customers having the same issue yet gm refuses to replace defective dash for customers which is ultimately putting gm customers and their passengers in danger.
The contact owns a 2007 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that the driver's side dashboard exhibited several cracks near the speedometer gauge. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000. The VIN was unavailable.
