36 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 10/23/2013

While picking up my children from school the engine started backfiring, pulled the car over and put into park idle completely unstable, traction control service light came on engine light came on. Hard shift on transmission. Totally disappointed. Took it to the dealership for a diagnosis they say the lifters are bad and are no longer covered under warranty. Quoted me 2700. 00 to replace 2 lifters so not acceptable this car does not even require a tune up until 100000 miles. Explained that to the service rep and he came back with a different quote telling me they would be willing to cover half. Really why would you offer to pay half right off the bat. I believe they are aware that there is a problem and trying to cover it up. My brother in law has a year newer model and just had the same issue repaired last month. They also paid half for his. How ironic is that. I dont believe the owners of these vehicle should be responsible for a faulty part on an engine gm should be! there are many post on the internet of other owners experiencing similar problem this motor needs to be recalled.

37 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2013

My wifes 2007 Yukon xl had a message that stated that the traction control was off and a reduction in power message while traveling on the interstate highway going 65 miles an hour during rush hour. When this message came on the Yukon came to a very dangerous reduction in speed and was very close to getting rearended by the vehicles behind her. She was able to pull over to the shoulder and was able to restart the engine and the message reset but came back on soon after she got back up to speed and the truck shut down again. I have since replaced the throttle body assembly and checked all ground straps replaced the battery and have checked the harness. The issue has continued and since my vehicle is out of warrenty it is getting very expensive to start replacing parts on the vechicle just to have it do the same thing. According to the dealership there are no recalls but there are several forums on line with people all over the united states that have the same problem with there gm products. This is a very serious safety issue that needs to be looked into, before somebody gets hurt or killed. Gm needs to recall their products that are involved and repair them. -.

38 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2013

Traveling on I-75 northbound from chattanooga to knoxville, the speedometer goes to zero, car reduces speed almost to a halt. Off to the ramp at really slow speed. Check engine light comes on, and soon after the traction control light. Computer indicates: service stabilitrac - service traction control - power assit off - transmission fluid hot, idle engine. Removed the battery cable for 5 mins. Car restarts but all the lights and messages still on. Returned home (about 35 miles) with engine revving around 3500 and speed at about 50 mph. Engine temp and oil pressure indicators ok. This was scary with 2 kids in the car! taking it to garage tomorrow.

39 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2013

My engine speed reduced abruptly while traveling speed of 65mph on the freeway. This has almost caused an accident several times. A reduced engine speed, service stabilization track and service traction control signs come on. If I pull over and wait 1 minute it starts and doesn't do again for 15 minutes. Sometimes this doesn't happen for a week. I read forums and it appears to be a faulty throttle body, and only with gm vehicles, but gm fails to request a recall. Some have spent hundreds of dollars to replace, and it still does not fix the problem.

40 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 03/18/2013

Roughly 30 times since March my 2007 GMC Yukon xl 5. 3 slt has had the dreaded stabilitrack off, service stabilitrack, reduced engine power problem. You can be driving along at various speeds and the error will come on and you will be completely unable to accelerate. Leaving a very dangerous situation for my family. It has happened when pulling a camper and without pulling anything either. Gm refuses to help the many families having the same problems.

41 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 03/06/2013

I have a 2007 Yukon that continually has the check engine light come on and error saying service stabilitrak - service traction control. Sometimes it will clunk (when shifting and this happens). I had the throttle sensor replaced and all 8 spark plugs in 2013 and same error is now back. They are saying I have multiple misfires now and I need to replace all my spark plugs again (for another $500) but they can't guarantee this will fix it. This is a very common problem - all over the web - and it doesn't seem like GMC has taken any accountability for this issue. My car is currently at a very reputable chevy dealership and they have no clue. I am seriously at a loss for words and don't know where to turn.

42 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 12/22/2012

Tl- the contact owns a 2007 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph the stability track, traction control, and the engine light illuminated. The vehicle decelerated and the contact had no control of the vehicle. The failure occurred intermittently at different speeds. The vehicle was taken to the dealer six different times. The technicians reset the check engine light and the sensor. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage 63,000. Da.

43 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 11/19/2012

While driving in the city, my truck was driving fine. Then the stabilitrak came on. When it came on the engine slow down, and almost came to a complete stop while driving on a major road where the speed limit is 55. I was able to pull over and turn the vehicle off. I was able to get it to start and call the GMC dealer, told them what the problem was, and they asked could I bring the vehicle in to see what the problem was. After they service the vehicle, they said that the stabilitrak needed to be replaced. I hadn't even had the vehicle for a full year. Before I left the dealer I asked could I still drive the vehicle, they said that I could. So I continue to drive the vehicle. One day while drive the vehicle, it moved forward while my foot was on the brake and shut off. I tried to immediately start it cause I was behind another car at a light. I was glad that it didn't hit another car. It would not start immediately. Maybe two minutes it started and when I put it in drive and press the gas it took off fast. While driving, the stabilitrak light comes on and the engine power is gone. If I am not able to pull over, the speed will drop below 20 mph. Sometimes the vehicle will take off, with just a little bit of gas. Help am scared that it might take off and hit someone or shutoff and hit someone. This is a dangerous problem, that I feel GMC should look into before some dies or really get hurt.

44 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 08/31/2012

I have had my vehicle for about 4 years now. I haven't had any issues with it up until July of last year (2014). I experienced my car jerking erratically and had to pull over. The car lost speed and could not accelerate. I had taken it to a mechanic who then said I needed a new transmission. I have had the transmission replaced. About 6 months later the jerking started again on and off, no loss of speed and it would only jerk going form first gear to second. I have not worried about it until now because the car would only jerk every so often. Now my traction control and stabilizer service warning message pops up. I have taken it to several places I have been told that I needed a throttle body, abs module and both are not cheap to fix they all want to charge me $500- $1200 to fix the problem. I began researching and see that the issue I am having may be due to a manufacturing issue. I plan to take it to another mechanic before I start paying for more costly repairs. If for some reason this is a manufacturing issue, these vehicles need to be recalled before a serious accident happens.

45 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2012

I was driving my denali in the city the first time it happened. The truck dropped in speed and lost power. I noticed that the cluster of lights in my dash went out and the vehicle struggled to maintain speed. A little bit down the road I pulled over. I didn't know what happened or what to do. It wouldn't shift gears. I tried to drive it to a mechanic that was close because I had no help available. It struggled to move so I pulled over again. I sat on the side of the road not knowing what to do so I turned it off. After sitting for 10-15 minutes I started it. The check engine light was still on but the dash was back to normal. I began to drive it to see if was ok. It seemed to be at the moment with the exception of a hot transmission according to the warning lights. This was the 1st of many times this would happen. Sometimes in the city in the middle of traffic where I couldn't pull over and sometimes going 70mph on the toll road. Each time there was a terrible drag in the engine and I would loose power. Often it would jerk the whole vehicle as if I slammed on the brakes. This is dangerous frustrating and scary. I live in a climate with lots of snow & ice therefore this is even more of an issue because it causes me to loose control sometimes. This is unacceptable and dangerous!!!!!.

46 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 04/11/2012

I was driving on the expressway at 70 mph and the car completed shut me down to 50 mph in a matter of seconds the check engine light came on then the service traction control, traction control off, service stability track, stability track off. I took to the dealer and had over $1100. 00 worth of work done including the throttle body. Here we are 5 months later and I am on the expressway car shuts down again and the same warning signals, check engine light, service traction control, service stabilitrak light comes on again. I also have a problem with oil consumption barely make it 1000 miles on a new oil change when the check oil light comes on, when you check the oil there isn't even any oil on the stick.

47 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 02/21/2012

Stabilitrack automatically shuts off at various times and signals on dashboard to get serviced. When stabilitrack is off transmission shifts very roughly and car lurches forward. Date of occurrence is approx but has been happening ever since.

48 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 02/03/2012

I was traveling on the freeway at about 70 mph coming from a supervision training class along with a CO-worker and the following sensor lights started appearing on my dashboard: traction control off, stabilitrak off. This has continued to happen on a regular basis. I have taken it to the gm service at least twice and private repair facilities numerous times and the situation continues. It is now 01-28-2014 and the situation continues and is getting worse. Alone with the above issues now the "reduce engine power" light comes on and the engine shuts down. It has become very dangerous to drive this vehicle and no repair facility, gm or otherwise, knows how to fix the problem. I have to drive so this vehicle is what I drive but, it is dangerous and gm needs to fix it or recall for this issue. I need answers quickly I fear this issue is dangerous for all concerned especially when this happens on a freeway!!.

49 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 06/11/2011

"reduced engine power" message while driving on the highway at 65mph. My truck immediately dropped down to 35 mph and nearly caused a wreck.

50 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 04/14/2011

I purchased my 2007 Yukon about a year ago, in that time the stabilitrak light/check engine/traction control has come on 2 times now. The stabilitrak light comes on and check engine light also comes on it tells me it is turning the stabilitrak off and beeps at me. Both times this has happened I have called my mechanic and he told me it is fine to drive to bring it in later and he will hook it up to the computer. The light stays on until I arrive at my destination, I turn the car off let it sit and come back later and it is off when I restart it. I have had the mechanic hook it up to the computer two times now and nothing shows in the history. He has called around to the local gm dealerships and no one knows anything about it. I would like to get this resolved before our extended warranty is up.

51 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 02/05/2011

Serious safety issue please read, research and address!!! 2007 GMC Yukon 4x4 my stabilitrack light comes on then engine power flashes and I loose power ongoing problem! I was doing 70 mph down the freeway when this happened fortunely no one was behind me serious safety issue! I have had it to the dealer x2 two months ago. At first they cleaned the throttle body but could not pin point the problem. The second time I had it there they again could not find the problem. I have researched this online and this is a common problem. No real conclusive answer to why. There needs to be an investigation as this is a serious safety issue!! I am taking my vehicle to another auto mechanic. My vehicle has about 140000 miles however this proble began nearly a year ago but it did not reduce engine power. The problem fixes it self if you shut the truck off and restart. Please address!! tressa. Johnston@usu. Edu.

52 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/16/2011

2007 GMC Yukon slt. . . Stabilitrak failure. This error has popped up as we are operating the vehicle around 7 times. It shuts down and reduces the power to the engine so that the car does not have enough power to get to a safe place out of traffic. Imagine driving at 70mph and the vehicle suddenly loses power and you have a massive big rig closing down on your tail with no power to get out if the way! imagine climbing a hill with the vehicle power suddenly reduced with a big rig trying to climb behind you and you have no where to turn off for safety. I am extremely dissapointed in this vehicle with only 127614 highway miles on it. The vehicle was repaired with a differential problem with only 65,000 miles on it.

53 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/07/2011

Was driving down the freeway and the vehicle warning bell rung. On the vehicle heads up display read. Traction control, stability control and reduced engine power. The vehicle immediatly started shutting down with no power. This caused a near miss from behind from a tractor trailer vehicle.

54 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2010

Vehicle went into reduced engine power and crashed into fence. Vehicle goes into reduced engine power after 22 repair attempts and on highway at 70 miles per hour with children in car this is an extremely dangerous situation. My vehicle was damaged from the reduced engine power and at this point it is unable to be solved permanently to stop the vehicle from going into reduced engine power. It does it whenever and wherever without knowing. Goes from high rate of speed to zero. Almost had a semi slam into myself on the interstate. I could not pull over. Have had every part replaced and dealership is at a loss. Needs to be a recall due to inability to solve the problem.

55 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/09/2010

Several issues with vehicle. Throttle body, computer electrical system, transmission fluid and coolant leak. Door hinges rusted and hard to open doors. Chrome rims pitting and peeling. Steering column replaced. Tailgate rattles. Vehicle only has 37k miles.

56 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2010

The check engine/service stabilitrak/engine power reduced light comes on frequently yet the GMC dealer cannot pinpoint the problem. Potentially a connection to recall of cars equipped with heated windshield washer fluid feature. Did detect a slight odor shortly after using the windshield washer fluid and the indicator lights started flashing and the car slowed down considerably on the highway during inclement weather. Thus far nothing has corrected the problem; we are hoping to get the car back to our home state so the dealer can work on resolving this hazard.
