1 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/23/2022

It started shutting off at a light for autostop. But when it would turn green it would intermittently just drop out of autostop without restarting. Then may start back up or maybe not, many time after restarting at the light it would died in the middle of the inspection. A parasitic draw kept killing the accessory 12 v battery replaced the 12 v battery but the problem continued. When the truck was running it would run flawlessly, before stalling. The code said to replace the auxiliary fluid pump. I had it a new auxiliary fluid pump installed. After this the vehicle wouldnt crank. They then worked through a service bulliten fixing a list of areas were the harness was chaffed and shorted. The truck has been out of commission the past 10 months and intermittently started twice during this time, it ran rough for 5 mins and died out at the first stop sign and wont crank again. Some times it will crank but not start.

4 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2020

Vehicle unexpectedly caught fire in the front passengers side. The vehicle had been parked for several hours at the time of the fire. Fire investigators believe the fire was electrical and paid substantial attention to the front passengers side dash area on both the inboard and engine compartment sides of the dash. This is consistent with past reports of fires starting due to the heated washer fluid system which this vehicle had. There was no active recalls on this car.

7 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2019

Intermittent electrical issues. Doors locks and windows don't always work. Sometimes when I shut my car off it dies. Like I can't turn it back on. Running boards don't go up, can't lock it, nothing. Dead. Then 15 minutes later it's fine. Sometimes when driving, it's like it's cutting out, not getting enough power or different warning lights will randomly flash. I just never know when it's going to be working properly. I'm just afraid something will happen while we are driving. We also use the Yukon to tow a trailer. I need to be able to depend on it. The shop can never duplicate the issue and they just look at me like I'm crazy.

8 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2008 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that the dashboard was cracked and fractured in the middle. Also, the air bag and tire pressure monitoring system warning indicators illuminated. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. 9 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/03/2018

While we are driving on a freeway the car suddenly stop and will have a "stability lose control" message on a dash board. The car will stop momentarily and then it will run again after we start the car. The car has no power at all once it stopped. It happens a lot so right now we're not using it due to safety issue. A big safety issue because we use this to travel with family. I brought this to the mechanic but they don't seem to find what's wrong with it. They did a diagnostic test but they did not get an error message at all. Engine light is not even on.

10 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/22/2018

The vehicle caught fire while parked and ignition turned off. Fire appeared to start in the engine area. Vehicle had been parked and turned off for approx 1. 5 to 2 hours before the fire was reported.

Fe.

12 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2017

Just brought to my attention the recall on the GMC silverados. I have been having the same issue on my Yukon denali. I purchased a car in December of 2016. And I've had at least eight or more incidents. Of the car either not starting or shutting off for 3 to 5 seconds at about a 15 mile an hour turn. I feel as though my vehicle could be affected the same way as these are. I would like a remedy to why my car shuts off during a low-rpm turn. When the car comes back on all gauge lights come on for a brief second. And the thermostat goes up a little bit because the fan had shut off for a minor second.

13 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/27/2017

The contact owns a 2008 GMC Yukon. While at a complete stop, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was able to restart on the first attempt; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the chassis electronic control module failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v614000 (electrical system). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure ]mileage was approximately 160,000.

14 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/07/2017

The car flashes reduced engine power, stabilitrack off and the car can barely go 30 mph. The engine runs very rough when it is doing this also. My code scanner displays code 641 which is open 5volt reference on bank 1. It does this more when the weather outside is warmer or the car has been sitting still while running. On more than one occasion it has happened while pulling out into traffic causing near misses and other times while driving down the highway. Just yesterday it did it 20 times in a four mile stretch. This car is no longer safe to drive.

15 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2015

Cracked dash board in several different spots/areas. . A piece has already came out and flew towards my daughters face and bruised her.

16 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/27/2015

While traveling on the interstate at speed (70) the stabilitrac light came on and reduced engine power message displayed. The rpm's went over 4k, then the Yukon slowed in traffic and I had to pull to the side before being run over. The accelerator was unresponsive at that time. I turned off the engine, waited about 5 minutes and then resumed driving using '3' to engage transmission instead of 'd' the check engine light remained on, but I made it to my destination 2 hours away.

17 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2014

2008 GMC Yukon xl - 5 door lock actuator failures. All four door locks have failed and now the rear passenger lock actuator has failed for the second time. This is a serious safety issue as you either have to drive with the door unlocked or if locked you risk not being able to get a child out quickly if necessary. I have contacted gm and they referred the issue to my local rep who has denied covering the part, according to my dealer. Many cases of this same failure can be found online and in my case, 5 failures of the same part. I would say this indicates a problem. Why won't gm acknowledge this and offer to fix it? will it takes tragedy like a child not being able to be removed in an emergency?.

18 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2014

Front passenger and rear passenger door locks / latch will not open unless you do it manually. Car had less than 80,000 miles when this took place. This is a dangerous situation specially when an emergency takes place and you need to exit car fast. There should be a recall.

19 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/28/2014

Driving at 70 mph on highway. Vehicle gauges begin to act erratically, vehicle heaves and lurches, then 100% power failure. Nothing worked, even hazzard lights. Airbag light flashing on and off. Was able to put vehicle in neutral and move to the side of the road where the vehicle stopped. There was no power at all, had to manually open door locks. After 10-15 minutes, the power came back on and I was able to restart the vehicle and drive home. Happened again on 3/23/14. Again driving at highway speeds, the electric components (radio, gauges, power cord accessories) begin acting erratically and then 100% complete power failure while driving. The gm dealer cannot duplicate or find the problem. I feel 100% unsafe in the vehicle especially with my kids.

20 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/19/2013

3 of the door actuators broke and weren't able to be locked using the keypad or the automatic locks.

21 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2013

Rear passenger door actuator failed. Now, the other 3 actuators are failing as well. This is a safety concern because in case of an accident, passengers and driver can have their doors remain locked. My biggest concern is that the children in the 2nd & 3rd row can become trapped when the actuators fail. The door lock knob is way back in the rear door, making it not accessible from the front seat or front door. This is clearly a quality issue. To have one fail might be just bad luck, to have all 4 fail is clearly a design & quality issue that needs to be addressed. I hope GMC does not wait until children are hurt due to locked door before they admit it is an issue & just fix it.

22 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2013

The passenger door and right side rear door locks have failed. The doors have to be manually locked and unlock. I believe it to be the door lock actuators, as their are numerous complaints about this all over the internet. This is a huge safety issue. I cannot believe this has not been recalled. I have two small children and to not be able to get to them as fast as possible in an emergency is very scary. These automatic door locks are there for a reason gm knows it. I was told the cost would be around $300 per door and many of these people have had to have them replaced multiple times. This needs to be fixed free of charge with quality parts that will not fail!.

23 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/05/2012

Driver door will not lock or unlock with the key fob or the door lock/unlock button on the door. This creates a safety concern.

24 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/24/2012

The rear passenger door does not lock or open with the remote or front drive door switches. Turns out that the lock actuator has gone bad and has to be replaced. My son is 4 years old and due to the fact that we can not lock the door from the front - he opened the rear door while car was driving . Luckly he was in car seat. This could pose a serious problem for parents with young children. While the car was under warranty the same rear passenger door side lock actuator was replaced 3 times. Unfortunately the car is out of warranty and the problem continues for us. Need to have GMC look into this matter. Online there's so many people with the exact same issue. Poses a serious issue for parents with this type of vehicle. Please have GMC recall and investigate this matter before someone truly gets hurt.

25 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/18/2012

We have owned this vehicle since brand new. Three of the door lock actuators from three different doors were defective and had to be replaced at different times during the years of ownership. First the front driver's door, then the front passenger door and finally and recently the rear passenger side door. With the front doors, they didn't always open or lock with the remote control or using the electronic controls causing safety and security problems. The rear passenger door is the same where our younger daughter sits and didn't always lock or unlock causing obvious safety and security concerns. The only way to ensure it locks was to manually lockmor unlock the doors. I am extremely disappointed that I have replaced three of four door lock actuators in the four years we have owned this vehicle. Never before have I owned a vehicle with such an obvious defect that hasn't been covered beyond the warranty when it is a safety problem. My last repair bill was over $160. 00. I believe the others occurred during the warranty so those were covered. I am anticipating the last door lock actuator will fail some day, so,far it is working.

26 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/04/2012

Tl-the contact owns a 2008 GMC Yukon denali. The contact stated that the front driver's side exterior and interior power doors would not open when using the automatic key fob. The doors could only be opened manually. In addition, the rear lift gate would not release unless manually opened. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 48,000. The VIN was unavailable. Kmj.

27 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/07/2011

Drivers side door lock actuator went out; had replaced by gm dealership in wilkesboro, north carolina. Approximately 1 year later, the drivers side rear passenger door lock actuator failed requiring one to manually activate the door lock each time. When needing to unlock the door, it is impossible for the regular driver of this vehicle to reach the door lock latch to manually unlock the door. Now. 2 weeks ago, the passenger side front door lock actuator no longer works. This poses a significant safety hazard as small children are able to manipulate the door latch and open the door at any time while in motion. Also; for safety of the primary driver of this vehicle; having to unlock the door manually is a tremendous feat "opening the door" for someone to potentially rob, mug, etc. This person while attempting to fumble with climbing all over the vehicle to unlock doors or lock them manually. GMC must know this is a problem as reported by lots of people but has yet to issue a recall to have these parts replaced. Aftermarket door lock actuators are not available yet for this year, make and model leaving one at the mercy of the high priced dealerships to continue to gouge patrons who "have no choice" but to rely on their inflated means of repair. Unless one is lucky enough to find a wrecked vehicle at a salvage yard for replacement parts. How many people are going to have to continue to deal with this issue before someone steps up and demands that these problems be corrected. I am one of these people!!!!.

28 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2011

The 2008 GMC Yukon and 2008 gm suburbans have a widespread well-documented, repeated failure of the door lock actuators as a result of a defect which gm will not address via recall. I have had two separate incidents of failed door locks in my 2008 GMC Yukon. When the actuator fails, my children are able to open the car door while the car is in motion. Gm should be responsible for these expensive repairs even after the warranty period expires since the door lock actuator failures are widespread, common (even occuring repeatedly in the same car) and create a danger of children potentially falling from the car while the car is moving.

29 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2011

The contact owns a 2008 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that the doors failed to open when using the remote access. The dealer stated that the actuator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 27,000.

30 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/12/2011

One by one the door lock actuators have stopped working. All before 60,000 miles. The doors will not lock or unlock electronically. This is a safety issue due to the fact that the doors do not automatically lock when you put the car in gear. A child could open the door as you are driving down the road. Needs a recall.

31 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/19/2011

The problem began when the drivers side door locks began to fail. They will not lock or unlock other than by doing it manually. Over the last several months, both of the rear passenger doors have failed. This situation is very dangerous in the event of an accident. I found this site after discovering several blogs where many gm owners are having the same problem.

32 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/29/2011

2008 GMC Yukon - faulty door lock actuators (2 so far).

33 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2010

2008 GMC Yukon xl - door lock actuators repeated failure - safety issue as the doors will not lock automatically while underway and become a hazard. Also in the event of needing to unlock the doors in emergency it requires manual operation. This is a tremendous hazard and a known problem by gm and they fail to find adequate soltuion to the problem. They also refuse to replace the units out of 36k warranty. This is a chassis wide issue from chevy, Cadillac, GMC SUV for this model year.

34 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/25/2010

Rear driver side door lock will only open manually. The key fob and electronic mechanisms to unlock this door no longer work. The rear passenger door now operates in the same manner (it doesn't). I see a significant number of people encountering the same problem.

35 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2009

I have issues with all four door locks not working, the power seats work sometimes, and my radio / nv system goes on and off.
