1 Latches/locks/linkage problem

Failure Date: 11/06/2013

Door lock failure, driver and rear passenger.

2 Latches/locks/linkage problem

Failure Date: 07/19/2013

3 of the door actuators broke and weren't able to be locked using the keypad or the automatic locks.

3 Latches/locks/linkage problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2013

The passenger door and right side rear door locks have failed. The doors have to be manually locked and unlock. I believe it to be the door lock actuators, as their are numerous complaints about this all over the internet. This is a huge safety issue. I cannot believe this has not been recalled. I have two small children and to not be able to get to them as fast as possible in an emergency is very scary. These automatic door locks are there for a reason gm knows it. I was told the cost would be around $300 per door and many of these people have had to have them replaced multiple times. This needs to be fixed free of charge with quality parts that will not fail!.

4 Latches/locks/linkage problem

Failure Date: 12/05/2012

Driver door will not lock or unlock with the key fob or the door lock/unlock button on the door. This creates a safety concern.

5 Latches/locks/linkage problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2012

Problems with power door locks. Had it with our 2000 Yukon, my 1999 sierra, and now our 2008. The 12 volt motor which drives the locks up and down via a screwjack fails. No logical way to just change the motor. The entire assy. Must be replaced @ $153 my nearest dealer. 2nd door to fail on the 2008. Assy is stamped "made in china". This is a recurring problem and should be on a recall.

6 Latches/locks/linkage problem

Failure Date: 10/07/2011

Drivers side door lock actuator went out; had replaced by gm dealership in wilkesboro, north carolina. Approximately 1 year later, the drivers side rear passenger door lock actuator failed requiring one to manually activate the door lock each time. When needing to unlock the door, it is impossible for the regular driver of this vehicle to reach the door lock latch to manually unlock the door. Now. 2 weeks ago, the passenger side front door lock actuator no longer works. This poses a significant safety hazard as small children are able to manipulate the door latch and open the door at any time while in motion. Also; for safety of the primary driver of this vehicle; having to unlock the door manually is a tremendous feat "opening the door" for someone to potentially rob, mug, etc. This person while attempting to fumble with climbing all over the vehicle to unlock doors or lock them manually. GMC must know this is a problem as reported by lots of people but has yet to issue a recall to have these parts replaced. Aftermarket door lock actuators are not available yet for this year, make and model leaving one at the mercy of the high priced dealerships to continue to gouge patrons who "have no choice" but to rely on their inflated means of repair. Unless one is lucky enough to find a wrecked vehicle at a salvage yard for replacement parts. How many people are going to have to continue to deal with this issue before someone steps up and demands that these problems be corrected. I am one of these people!!!!.

7 Latches/locks/linkage problem

Failure Date: 07/11/2011

2008 GMC Yukon xl denali. Driver door and driver side rear locks failed. With auto locks, the locks on all doors engage when the car is in gear. Granddaughter sitting in rear seat in booster with seat belt. Driving vehicle, she pulled on door handle and the door opened. Stopped vehicle and attempted to lock doors with both key fob and interior switch, neither door would lock. Able to lock doors manually. Unaware of the problem until incident. She could have fallen out of vehicle if not for booster and seat belt. No warning noted or posted on driver information center. Incidentally, when key fob lock is activated, car alarm is activated, however driver door and rear door are not locked. Vehicle does not realize this and remote start function still operates. Now car can be started, but anyone can just walk up and drive off in the vehicle, because the door locks are not functioning. Most concern is for safety of passengers, especially children. The autolock doors with gears engaged is an advertised safety feature. Very dangerous when this system fails. . . Especially with no warning lights to indicate failure. Would appreciate a recall, or at the very least a warning to owners that this could occur and create a hazard.

8 Latches/locks/linkage problem

Failure Date: 06/12/2011

The left front and the left rear door locks on my vehicle do not work. I am very worried that one of my children will open the door while I am driving. The vehicle is out of warranty and it will be a few weeks until I can save enough to have it fixed. This seems to be a very common problem with GMC. I have been told that it is the door lock actuator. There should be a recall and GMC should pay to have this fixed. This is a serious safety issue.

12 Latches/locks/linkage problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2011

Rear left door lock unlocks/locks intermittently when driving or exiting vehicle. Safety issue for child in rear seat as well as security issue if unlocked at home or parking lot. 2nd or 3rd time this has happened on this vehicle. Now at 38,000 miles and past warranty!.

13 Latches/locks/linkage problem

Failure Date: 03/21/2011

2008 Yukon xl power door locks breaking. Drivers door went out and was replaced under warranty, now a 58,000 driver side passenger door goes out. It is almost impossible to unlock this door without going around the vehicle and crawling in the passenger side rear door to reach across, the manual lock is at the rear of the door and the doors are so large you cannot reach them. They should have been towards the front of the rear doors. Obviously from all the post here and out on other forums this is a major issue that gm has chosen to ignore. Why not at $300 per fix.

14 Latches/locks/linkage problem

Failure Date: 02/16/2011

Safty locks on doors don't work for 2008 Yukon and dealer replaced 3 and now the 4 is no good and gm said it won't replace acuator lock. Dealer said they have replaced about 80 of these on yokon in 6 months. Can not open and lock doors from out side on vechicle. Child is unsafe in back seat of car and gm has done nothing.

15 Latches/locks/linkage problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2010

2008 GMC Yukon xl - door lock actuators repeated failure - safety issue as the doors will not lock automatically while underway and become a hazard. Also in the event of needing to unlock the doors in emergency it requires manual operation. This is a tremendous hazard and a known problem by gm and they fail to find adequate soltuion to the problem. They also refuse to replace the units out of 36k warranty. This is a chassis wide issue from chevy, Cadillac, GMC SUV for this model year.

16 Latches/locks/linkage problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2010

I own a 2008 GMC Yukon. The vehicle has power door locks and the actuator on the door locks has gone out on all four doors. They replaced the first 3 under warranty, but they would not do it on the last one as vehicle was out of warranty. My son helped me install a new one in the last one, but we had to buy the parts. My sorry dealership wanted $300 to fix something that is obviously flawed in the first place. The door lock has now gone out again on a back door that they had already fixed, supposedly they will repair this one free of charge. I guess I will take it in and see if they will honor their repair warranty.

17 Latches/locks/linkage problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2010

The contact owns a 2008 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that the vehicle was shut off and locked with the key fob. When she attempted to enter the vehicle again, she was able to open the driver side door without using the key fob but the anti-theft system began to sound. She disengaged the system using the key fob but the driver side door would not lock. The vehicle was taken to a local repair shop where the contact was informed that driver side door motor failed; it was repaired. The following day, the failure occurred on the rear driver side door. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 39,600 and the current mileage was 39,680.

18 Latches/locks/linkage problem

Failure Date: 08/30/2010

First owner of a 2009 GMC Yukon has had 3 door lock failures, which not only qualifies under the lemon law, but also poses a major safety issue. The first door lock failed. GMC does not consider door locks as a warranty item or safety item so I was forced to pay for a replacement. The next week, another door lock failed. The dealer did not charge for the replacement. Now, a third door lock failed only 10 days after the last repair. Why is this a safety concern? my child was able to open the door while all doors were locked. Due to e failure, the door was unlocked unknowingly. My child and any child or person risks falling out of a moving vehicle. Secondly, should a car accident occur, unlocked doors could result in a door opening and ejecting the passenger leading to death. There is a flood of complaints on the web for this issue. GMC has not owned up to it, but due to the major safety issues, this should be investigated and faulty actuators and the known pattern failure in wiring harness causing the failures should be addressed as an immediate recall.

19 Latches/locks/linkage problem

Failure Date: 08/12/2010

I have a 2008 GMC Yukon xl - I have had the drivers door and the back door on the drivers side's lock fixed while under warranty, now the passenger side front and back door locks are not working. The only way to unlock these doors is to crawl into the vehicle and manually lock and unlock them.

20 Latches/locks/linkage problem

Failure Date: 08/04/2010

2008 denali xl - door lock failures. 1st repair was under warranty @ 34000 miles, replaced left rear door lock. 2nd repair was 8/4/10 for left front and right rear door locks replaced for $487. 00 @ 40,000 miles (over warranty). Dealer explained that many 2008 & 2009 GMC denalis have been coming in with door lock failures. This is a safety hazard as you cannot unlock the rear doors from the outside when a child is in a carseat for instance. Should be a recall.

21 Latches/locks/linkage problem

Failure Date: 06/25/2010

Rear driver side door lock will only open manually. The key fob and electronic mechanisms to unlock this door no longer work. The rear passenger door now operates in the same manner (it doesn't). I see a significant number of people encountering the same problem.

22 Latches/locks/linkage problem

Failure Date: 06/18/2010

Door lock failure. Power locks on 3 out of 4 doors have failed within the first 30,000 miles, under normal usage. Over $600 to repair two doors, but failed again. This is a potential safety hazard as these doors cannot be unlocked and then opened from the outside.

23 Latches/locks/linkage problem

Failure Date: 09/07/2009

2008 GMC Yukon door actuators going out repeatedly. I have to manually unlock the door instead of being able to use my key remote as the drivers side and 2 passenger doors have gone out. This becomes a safety issue as I am at my business until 9pm and would like to unlock my door by remote.
