general problems of the 2009 GMC Yukon

The dashboard cracked.

Transmission problems.

My 2009 GMC Yukon denali has a major safety issue. The hard plastic dash has multiple cracks, which is a huge safety concern in the case of an accident. The dash could explode inside the vehicle causing injury to me and/or other passengers. The dashboard could also interfere with the operation of the airbag due to multiple cracks being around the passenger air bag. I have reached out to gm customer service twice and both time they advised me that a manager will reach out to me but they never did. I’m hoping this report will make gm accountable for the vehicle defect they made and pay to fix/repair the dash.

Gas pedal sticks wide open and have to try to pull it back up and sometimes it takes a while it get it unstuck. This has happened two different times in one month. The vehicle was in motion on a city street and luckily not traffic in front of us and we were going straight.

The dashboard cracked in 3 places shortly after we purchased vehicle. Above steering wheel and passenger side by airbag.

I was driving on the highway and all of a sudden a message on the dashboard said ''engine power is reduced" and my engine shut off, brakes were hardly working and I could hardly steer or turn the wheels. My car copmletly lost control and I was lucky there were no cars by me otherwise an accident would have been inevitable. When I went to the dealer they told me they have no answer and they suggested to replace my ignition switch and camshaft sensor to begin with. No guaranty that it'll fix my problem they said. Reading online forums looks like I am not the only one. Please do something about it otherwise sooner or later lifes will be lost.

Dashboard is defective and a safety hazard. If the passenger airbag deploys it could send plastic shrapnel throughout the vehicle.

The rear lift gate will slam shut once open because the hydrolics fail.

5. 3 flex fuel engine had to replace lifters and cam at 100,000 miles. They now recommend replacing the engine.

Door handles are faulty, sometimes they will not open the door and other times you cannot shut the door because, the door handle gets stuck.

2009 Yukon denali. . . On 2 separate occasions while attempting to open vehicle using external door handles, the front passenger side door handle & rear driver's side door handle came off. These are the chrome plated models. I was told by multiple sales personnel, service techs, & service managers that this is a common problem (apparently there is some sort of issue with the chrome plated models). I also have friends with similar models- Yukon & tahoe that have experienced the same issue. Some have replaced all 4 door handles. I fear that I will be replacing the remaining door handles in the near future. I have an extended warranty but was told that it is not covered. Of course they consider this a cosmetic issue & not a safety issue so I truly doubt that there will be a recall. I have also seen on forums that this is a very common problem among GMC Yukon & chevy tahoe owners starting around the 2007 model year.

The chrome door handles in the SUV are pealing and the material will cut your hand. Both my wife and I have received cuts from these handles. From reading on line it appears that this a problem with a lot of the gm suvs'. I read that you started looking into this but I can't find where there was any conclusion. The dealer is happy to replace these if I am willing to pay for it, but will no guarntee that the new ones won't have the same problem.
