Body problems of the 2010 GMC Yukon

Engine front hood pops up into the safety latch position while driving down the road at highway speed and in cold weather or in a strong headwind.

The top of the dashboard instrument panel keeps cracking in several places despite trying to prevent any or further cracks. It is very visible and it is now cracking towards the steering wheel and the cover to the passenger air bag area. Concerned that because it is in close range to passenger airbag component area as well as the steering column area that eventually there will some malfunction in either components.

The contact owns a 2010 GMC Yukon denali. The contact stated that the dashbord abruptly fractured. While driving approximately 60 mph, the contact heard an abnormal noise and noticed that the dashboard fractured on the driver side near the steering wheel. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 57,000.

I am concerned about my interior dash on my 2010 GMC Yukon denali that started a crack at approximately 60,000 miles. It has since cracked in other parts of the dash not connected to the first crack. That initial crack has significantly grown since it originated. My concern is that this crack, now almost a hole, from two crack being next to each other will impede or cause a "missile" hazard should the passenger airbag ever be deployed. If pictures are needed I would be more than happy to provide them. I have read online that this is a common occurrence with GMC cars, or specifiaclly this type of car.

I have already written a complaint last year with no response. Since my complaint of the crack I have on the driver side it is now a hole. It is exposing all dash wires and is very, very sharp. This is very hazardous as the temps outside can melt the wires and the dash can cut your hand!!! this is ridiculous that GMC made plastic dash's to hold up in all temp's when we all know that's not possible. The hole is very visible and is more than 4 inches wide!!!.

Crack appeared near the passenger side airbag dashboard area. Similar to complaints by so many other drivers.

Driver's side dash in front of steering wheel spontaneously cracked (6-8" fissure). From vent near windshield to about halfway up curved part of dash. See attached image.

The dashboards of 2007-2013 chevy, GMC, Cadillac SUV's and trucks become cracked due to a factory defect in the materials used to make them. They in turn rattle severely. The main cause for concern in upon air bag deployment, pieces from the dash can puncture the air bag rendering it useless and also pieces from the dash can become projectiles causing severe injury as well. Gm has failed to acknowledge the severity of this problem and refuses to do anything to remedy it. There are thousands of other identical cases on the internet on various gm forums all stating the same thing. This needs to be addressed!.

2010 GMC Yukon has been cracking over the air bag on the passenger side and then above the instrument panel. We noticed the cracks while cleaning since it has a dash cover. Vehicle is garaged and always has a dash mat and windshield shade. This is dangerous if the airbags were to go off.

Cracked dash - multiple cracks around the airbag module, made worse by airbag module replacement. Scared that if the air bags ever go off, the dash will shatter, throwing shrapnel all over the occupants.

Tl-the contact owns a 2010 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that the dashboard of his vehicle developed a crack next to the passenger side air bag. There were no warning lights illuminated before or after the failure. The vehicle was taken to the demontrond Buick GMC dealership (14101 north fwy, houston, TX 77090) where the vehicle was evaluated. The dealership determined that the entire dashboard should be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 157,000.
