1 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/06/2025

Valve spring snapped clear in half inside the engine while driving on the highway. This caused me to be stranded on the side of the road in the middle of the arizona desert with my two dogs in the heat. Thankfully I did not lose control of the vehicle. No warning signs whatsoever until out of nowhere- vehicle check engine light started flashing as well as 'service stabiltrak' and 'traction control disabled'. I immediately pulled over. Thankfully I shut off the engine in time to prevent further damage to the pistons. Vehicle was towed and inspected by holden's auto service in kingman, az. Valve spring broke clean in half and was given to me after valve spring was replaced. Compression tests were performed after valve spring replacement. Engine was run until warm and normal compression resumed. No other mechanical issues found. Checked for recalls on this vehicle. Nothing found related to this.

4 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/16/2018

As we are driving down the interstate our Yukon loses all power, engine turns off, stability control message comes up, tire pressure sensor message comes up. We pulled over to the side of the road and try refiring the engine. It feels like the engine is about to jump out from under the hood. We turn it off and wait about 5 minutes. Start the engine back up after waiting and it drives ok, but engine light is on. This has happened to us twice in two days time.

5 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/19/2017

At speed, my vehicle will randomly start jumping then all the electrical components start to turn on and off as if the vehicle was trying to turn off while driving. The stabillitrack light flashes and the door locks start locking and unlocking at a rapid pace. This is a safety issue! this is our family's primary vehicle in which my wife uses most of the time. She usually is accompanied by our 2 small children. When the issue arises, she looses some control of the vehicle. It is unsafe!.

6 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/07/2016

I had been rear ended, my daughter took my 2010 Yukon to the local dealer (findlay) on may 12, 2016, she was told accident didn't cause the problem and would need the tire sensor checked at a cost of $500. 00. Yesterday (June 8, 2016) coming home from work, I was turning off the main highway onto a residential street (riverview) as I made the turn the cars abs brake sensor light went off and so did the light as though I on was on ice, but I was on a paved road and speed was low maybe 10 mph, it went off almost as quickly as it came on. So I proceeded, stop at a 4 way stop sign (riverview and lakeside), when I proceeded on all the door locks started going off and the power and transmission would not engage. I traveled approximately 500 feet before the car engaged and started running. I am trying to find out if this is a common problem and if so are there any resolutions and is anyone else having this problem. In a week I need to travel 200 miles to a doctor and I'm concerned that this is major.

7 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/17/2015

Truck started making metal on metal sound. Engine block was cracked and anti-freeze was bleeding into oil. Mechanic and dealership agreed new engine was needed. Cost - $8,000. Truck had 103,000 miles - warranty expired at 100,000. We had been experiencing oil problems since Nov. 2014 when we were still under warranty- oil was gunky despite being changed each time. Dealership called GMC and GMC refused to budge on the warranty. I called gm 5 times - initially spoke to someone who said "they would work with me" and kicked it up t o a senior advisor named linda who never returned any of my calls despite other GMC employees sending her "urgent" emails to call me. We eventually decided not to do the repair and purchased an Audi q7 because we needed a vehicle and couldn't wait for linda. We had purchased 4 GMC vehicles (corvette, 2 suburbans, and the Yukon). Will never buy another GMC product again based upon their complete disregard for us.

8 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/25/2014

Traveling down the highway at 75 mph. All of the sudden the stabilitrak system light went on followed by the truck shuddering and shaking fairly violently followed by the reduced engine power light going on and a very quick reduction in speed to approximately 35-40 mph. Was able to pull over and tried to figure out what had just happened to a perfectly good running car. Attempted to reset the stabilitrak system using the gm manual page 5-6. No luck. Limped back onto the highway with a shaking truck with hazards on and made it to an exit . Went to gas station, turned off car again and filled with gas. Car was off for approximately 10 minutes while I ask for a gm dealership in town. Turned car on and the shaking had stopped and the power appeared to be normal. Went to gm. They hooked up to diagnostic machine . The code that came up was for a throttle position sensor replacement. Was covered under a special coverage adjustment, (12-6-2013) sent out to dealer service departments. Gm knows that this is a problem yet no one informed the drivers of these vehicles. My Yukon denalii xl was fixed . I am reporting this because I was put in a very dangerous position on the highway and high speeds. There is no doubt in my mind that without some good driving on my part and that of the 18 wheelers around me I could have caused an accident and injury. Once again gm knows this is a problem as stated in the #11273b special coverage adjustment- throttle position sensor replacement-December 16,2013. I would highly suggest that gm let car owners know so they can get the part replaced before killing or injuring themselves. I would not like my children or anyone else for that matter have this happen to them at any speed.

9 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/22/2014

I was getting ready to pull out of my driveway and bring my child to preschool when I noticed there wasn't power when I stepped on the gas. Reduced engine power is what I read on my dashboard!!!! I returned to my garage because I was unable to drive him to school. I am very upset!! this looks as if it's an ongoing problem with GMC. I made an appointment to have my vehicle looked at, and I am waiting to find out more about this issue. I will be just as upset if there is a large out of pocket cost. This should be recalled, there are so many others with this same problem, I was just fortunate to be home.

10 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/09/2013

While driving the "reduced engine power" alert popped up and the engine had no power. The car started to jump. Along with the "reduced engine power" alert there was also a "stabilitrak indicator light" that also came on. We pulled over and shut the engine off waited a few minutes and restarted it. On Tuesday 10/12 the same thing happened again while driving. Thankfully, we were on our street and got it back to the driveway without any incidents.

11 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2013

1. Cracked dashboard - cracked dashboard - dashboard is deteriorating. Numerous cracks. Vehicle is parked in the shade 90% of the time and after 30,000 miles on it. It has never been in any accident. There is a dashboard crack next to the airbag on the dashboard. My concern is with the takata inflators and potential shrapnel produced from the rotting dashboard becoming airborne during an accident. There is a website that shows the majority of these gm dashboards are defective and falling apart beyond cosmetic appearance. What kind of safety testing has been done in relation to cracked dashboards causing injuries? 2. Takata recall - there should be a solution to the takata inflator issue and a recall on gm cracked plastic dashboards. It is past August of 2017 and I have heard nothing regarding the airbag issue solution. (was told by the dealer - oursiman of alexandria, va ) that no soultion is availe for the airbag. I no longer feel safe driving this vehicle. 3. Transmission cooler lines - lines have been leaking for years. Specifically called out in the warranty coverage as not covered???it's a known issue with all Yukon and other vechicles.
