Dash is cracked next to the air bag toward the windshield and is dropped down. Afraid if it keeps dropping down or is bumped hard will set the air bag off. If the air bag goes off the dash could shatter causing damage to whoever is in the vehicle. Afraid it being next to the air bag.
The dashboard has spontaneously cracked in two locations after sitting in our garage. A 6" crack has no formed over the curved instrument cluster display on driver side and a 1" crack has occurred near the air bag cover corner on passenger side. These cracks are similar in location and size to others that have been reported on GMC Yukons. Started noticing the crack in August of 2020. I have received a recall on passenger side airbag.
Dashboard is cracking and will possibly cut airbag or driver in a crash. Plastic is brittle and could shatter. Suspension has poor dampening. Truck was repaired several times by dealer only to fail soon after repairs. Truck bounces over sharp bumps and becomes dangerous at highway speeds. Transmission shudders and shakes.
Dash board panel has cracked open for unknown reasons causing a safety concern with sharp edges and openings that allow opportunities for foreign objects/items to enter vehicle controls and instrumentation panels. Passenger air bag at dash board seems defective due to cracked dash board panels and associated trim pieces. It appears than upon air bag deployment there would be possible additional occupant/passenger injuries due to the broken/loose fitting/sub-standard dash board plastic pieces.
Dashboard cracking through out the top of the whole dashboard including surrounding the airbag on passenger side. I was told this happens in multiple trucks at the dealership as well as shown proof.
The dashboard has crack completely at the airbag and over the instrument panel. The SUV has developed these cracks over the last 2 years. Cracks kept expanding until total separation has occurred if loose pieces.
My 2011 GMC Yukon xl denali, dashboard has cracked out of nowhere I got in it one day and it was there I noticed it, up the driver side hump on the dashboard, and beside the passenger airbag, this is a safety hazard what if I get into a wreck pieces of dashboard would go flying everywhere, I have even contacted GMC about this issue and they don't care, I have attempted to glue the dash back together but it's still spreading, the more I drive the vehicle the more it spreads.
There is a large crack in the dashboard. The crack is located over the area over the driver's air bag which is a safety concern. If the air bag would deploy, broken pieces of plastic could harm the driver as the safety features are weakened. Crack occurred when vehicle was parked in a garage. No one , nothing caused the dashboard to crack, it is a defect.
My dash keeps cracking one of which is next to air bag! 80k miles.
My dashboard began to crack around the passenger airbag. The cracking was unprovoked. The car is clean, and only has 66k miles on it. In addition, one of the clips recepticals on the dashboard that the upper trim panel connects to broke (in the center part of the dashboard). No in addition to the large crack, the dash board now rattles. I do not have pictures handy during the time of this submitter but I can provide them. 100's of other have also had this problem, there are facebook pages and various pertitions.
Cracked dash - in the event of airbag deployment, broken pieces of the plastic dash will become projectiles in the passenger area.
I am having issues with the antenna in my truck. The radio is constantly going in and out. My onstar has stopped working completely. My bluetooth drops calls within a few min of taking the call if I can even get it to answer the call. Cosmetically the issues I am having is the dash has a huge crack right behind the steering wheel it goes all the way across to the passenger airbag. If I was to have a front end crash shards of plastic would go flying this is a safety hazard. I just purchased this vehicle about 2 weeks ago 3/11/17 and have had these issues since purchased. Any recommendations are welcomed. Thank you.
One week after purchasing, noticed crack in dash in upper left hand corner of airbag on passenger side. I do not know if this happened while driving or sitting in my garage. Very concerned if this will affect the effectiveness of the airbag or possibly cause an injury in the event of deployment.
The contact owns a 2011 GMC Yukon. Upon entering the vehicle, the contact noticed two cracks in the dashboard on the driver side behind the steering wheel. The cracks expanded over time. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
Middle of dashboard cracked and coming a part. Pieces beginning to fall off. Fear that if air bags were to deploy in an accident - the pieces of plastic would become embedded in the body of those in the car.
2011 GMC Yukon. Consumer writes in regards to replacement parts not available to repair front passenger airbag recall, dealership refuses to repair multiple cracks in dashboard.
The dash started to crack - I checked with gm (service) - and they said that this is a common problem - I spoke to gm and they will not acknowledge the issue (even though their service department know that there is an issue). Gm will not support me on this problem.
I have two cracks on my dash one at the passenger side air bag it is about one inch long. The other cracks is much longer. If is on the drivers side near the area that is humped up at the steering wheel. When I bought this car the cracks were very small the one near the steering wheel just keeps getting bigger!.
Our dashboard cracked on a 3 year old car - the local dealer "repaired" it and the repair lasted all of a day. The crack got progressively bigger and gm refused to cover any of the cost to replace, telling us our only option was to replace the entire dash at a cost of over $1200. We have had it patched by a local repair place who did a better job than the dealer, but the dash still vibrates to the point of shaking and the patch is now coming apart again. The actual crack is now over a 1/2" big. We are worried about the airbags deploying and the sharp plastic causing serious injury.
Severely cracked dashboard. Vehicle is garaged and we use a sunshade when parked outside.
I too have the cracked dashboard in my 2011 GMC denali. Not only is it a safety hazard, because apparently its a labor intensive job no one will take on the task of fixing it. I bought the replacement dash and I cant find anyone to install it. The rattle noise it create is unimaginable as now a locking clip has broken. I'm totally at a loss as to what to do. It has also decreased its trade in value. I went to buy another vehicle and they dropped the value by 2,000. 00 because of the dash. My only hope is that I don't end up in an air bag incident as I'm confident the dash will shatter and launch projectile pieces.
Numerous dashboard cracks above instrument panel and passenger airbag. Could cause splinters of plastic in case of airbag deployment.
Dashboard cracked top left of passenger side airbag and on right side of hump over steering wheel. I took to dealership, they said no recall, I called GMC and told them it was a serious safety issue as its seems like the dashboard is going to fall into the steering column and even make the air bag not function properly. They said I am outside of warranty (and said they have had tons of problems with this issue) . Vehicle is well maintained and only 53k miles.
The contact owns a 2011 GMC Yukon xl. The contact noticed that the dashboard was cracked in front of the steering column. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the dashboard needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 116,000.
The contact owns a 2011 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that the dashboard was cracked approximately eight inches above the instrument panel. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000.
My dashboard is cracking for no reason. There is a crack where the passenger side airbag is installed. I'm concerned that in the event of an accident, items like the speaker in the dash board will become projectiles. I am also concerned that if the airbag deploys then potentially shards of broken plastic will also be flying through the cabin.
I first noticed a crack on the dash in front on the drivers side. Since noticing the first crack, other cracks have developed.
2 cracks in the dashboard. One crack is leading to the passenger side airbag - causing a safety risk.
The dashboard is cracking on both the driver and passenger side. The crack in the passenger side goes right to where the airbag is.
2011 Yukon xl (garaged it's entire life and well cared for) had crack in dash appear in Jan 2016 which quickly spread from back to front causing the dash to become two pieces. Dealer only offered to "discount" a repair since out of warranty.
Multiple cracks on the dashboard. First, by the passenger airbag, and then on the driver's side, above the gauge cluster.
Tl- the contact owns a 2011 GMC Yukon denali. The contact stated that the vehicle's dashboard had a large crack on the dashboard and another hairline crack where the air bag would release. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000. Kh.
My dashbord is cracking. Getting worse. GMC needs to deal with this problem. I2 people that I work with also have gm trucks/SUV and they are also cracking in the same area. Make these companies step up and take care of this issue please.
"takata recall" cracks on the front dashboard on the right and left. Could cause safety issues when airbags deploy.
I'm a 2011gmc Yukon owner that has a cracked dash that in only a matter of time is going to affect the air bag. When I reached out to GMC, they told that I would have to wait for an accident to happen before they would look into the problem.
