I recently purchased a 2011 GMC Yukon from my parents. They are the original owners. This vehicle was kept under thier carport and not in direct sunlight. The dashboard has mulitple cracks. Most concerning is the cracks near the passenger side airbag. What if I were in an accident, the dashboard could become shrapnel impaling myself or my passenger. Also the defective dashboard could splinter and puncture the airbag making them ineffective. After researching this issue, there are numerous complaints and even lawsuits. I am appalled to know you and GMC are aware of the risks of the cracked dashboard causing great bodily harm or death. You and GMC have done nothing to remedy the problem. I have a 2002 Honda accord that sits in the sun and the dashboard is in perfect condition.
The dashboard has spontaneously cracked in two locations after sitting in our garage. A 6" crack has no formed over the curved instrument cluster display on driver side and a 1" crack has occurred near the air bag cover corner on passenger side. These cracks are similar in location and size to others that have been reported on GMC Yukons. Started noticing the crack in August of 2020. I have received a recall on passenger side airbag.
A crack appeared on the front dash next to the passenger side airbag. The vehicle was stationary and cracked overnight. I'm concerned about the airbag working properly.
"takata recall" dashboard is cracked near passenger side airbag and over the the steering wheel.
Takata recall dash board has cracked despite being well cared for. GMC wants $1500 to replace! a cracked dashboard, particularly one that is damaged around the passenger-side airbag, can yield flying projectiles in the event that an accident triggers the airbag to deploy.
Crack in dash over passenger side airbag.
Tl-the contact owns a 2011 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that the dashboard was cracked around the passenger side air bag area. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was approximately 47000. Kh.
The crack in my dash is now from the airbag to the vent. It has cracked completely through. I am concerned it will cause my passenger side airbag to deploy.
Dash is cracking on driver's side instrument panel and passenger side airbag top left corner.
My dashboard is cracking for no reason. There is a crack where the passenger side airbag is installed. I'm concerned that in the event of an accident, items like the speaker in the dash board will become projectiles. I am also concerned that if the airbag deploys then potentially shards of broken plastic will also be flying through the cabin.
There is a crack in the dash next to the right side air bag. I am concerned it could continue growing and cause the air bag to deploy.
Cracked dash by the passage side airbag and it's a safety hazard. It poses a threat of flying debris in the event that the airbag is deployed. My vehicle has always been kept in a garage and haven't been in the direct sunlight anymore the 5-6 hours a day no more than 4 days a week. I noticed the crack around November 2015 and I spoke with a GMC service rep and they told me that I have to replace the dash because it's a common issue in the SUV's. He informed me that I will have to pay $1200 to get it replaced and that he could not investigate my complaint about an electric spark sound in my dash under the speaker because if he did that I might as well replace the dash because the labor charge would be the same. I paid too much money for this vehicle in an attempt to provide safety for my family as we travel up and down the highway for it to be a safety hazard if the airbag is deployed or my speaker spark into a fire. Too much money!.
I have a crack in my dash connecting to the passeger side airbag. This is a huge safety concern. Gm is not willing to fix this problem or issue a recall when it is clearly a manufactures defect. They apparently dont care about the safety of their customers. They have had many complaints and still ignore this problem. Hopefully no one will have to be hurt for gm to fix this problem. But if its my car that someone gets hurt in, they will have a lawsuit on their hands!!.
Our 2011 GMC Yukon denali xl has developed large cracks in the dashboard. One is located behind the instrument panel and at the corner of the airbag. We have concerns if the passenger side airbag ever deploys, sharp pieces of the broken dash may break loose and injure passengers in our vehicle.
Our Yukon has a crack on the corner of the passenger side airbag, and also a very large crack on the instrument panel hump of the dash. This crack continues to lengthen daily. We have real fears of the plastic breaking apart into sharp shards in the case of an accident. I worry about my teenagers riding in the front seat as I don't want them injured. Additionally we have concerns about the crack near the airbag breaking the dash into pieces if the airbag inflates. We received the takata airbag recall over a year ago, and are still waiting for replacement. We are members of a facebook group with 6,200+ members, all with cracks in gm vehicles in the exact location. Gm denies that this is a defective part and tries to blame the issue on car being in the hot sun, use of armor all, etc. . . But it seems to me if everyone has the exact same issue, it's a manufacturing defect. We also own a 2008 GMC Yukon denali xl with an identical crack at the airbag corner.
My dashboard is severely cracked around the passenger side airbag and cluster, which a may cause malfunctioning of the air-bag. I have done numerous searches on the internet and I am seeing this same complaint over and over. I am very curious with it happening so much why this has not been recalled and GMC taken care of this problem. I am extremely worried about safety and the high cost of repairing this myself, but I know it needs to be taken care of. I've owned GMC vehicles forever and have been very happy, up until this point. I think the company needs to address this problem, and quickly.
The dash board has cracked in two places, one near the stearing column and one on the perimeter of the passenger side airbag. I'm concerned it will effect the integrity of the airbag. The vehicle was mostly stored in a garage and was not exposed to sunlight for a large amount of time.
