1 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 09/09/2020

My dash is cracking and some of those cracks are right near the passenger air bag. I'm concerned during a crash if the air bag is deployed, the dash could splitter causing fragments to fly at occupants faces and/ or puncture the air bag rendering it useless.

2 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 06/08/2020

Cash crack.

3 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 01/25/2020

The entire front dash is beginning to separate. There is a crack in the dash where the airbag is located. It appears to be caused from the airbag.

4 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 06/28/2019

Extreme hesitation when accelerating from a stop sign or stop light. Also my dashboard had several crack in it and it's getting more.

5 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2019

Dashboard cracked.

6 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2019

The upper dashboard has cracked all the way through above the steering column exposing many components intended to remain covered in the car. Due to the crack occurring the width of the upper dashboard, I am concerned about the dashboard coming dislodged during a crash or forceful braking incident and injuring vehicle passengers.

7 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2019

The dashboard is cracked in several places because the brackets under the dash are broken due to vibration during every day driving. As I searched for a repair kit from GMC, I found there are thousands of GMC owners who have this same issue in their truck/SUV. The suggestion the GMC website offers is for the owner to disassemble the dash, fix the crack with a hot staple gun and epoxy, then reattach the dash. I am shocked this is their suggestion which would involve unplugging 3 or 4 major functions of the vehicle. I would assume this should be done by a certified GMC repair center. Considering the enormous price of these types of vehicles, I am again amazed GMC has not issued a recall to replace these faulty parts found in thousands of their trucks/SUV's.

8 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 02/22/2019

Two weeks ago, a crack in the dashboard near the passenger air bag suddenly appeared. In doing some research, I have found that many other people have had a similar experience. This problem seems to have affected the following models: GMC Yukon, Cadillac escalade, GMC sierra, Chevrolet silverado, Chevrolet tahoe, Chevrolet suburban, and Chevrolet avalanche. My concern is with the fact that this crack is very close to the passenger airbag and is a safety concern. I am also concerned that the airbags may not work properly when needed because of this defect.

9 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2019

The dashboard has cracked near the airbag and above the steering wheel. This vehicle is kept in the garage and is lightly used.

10 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 12/14/2018

Dash board cracked and continues to get worse.

11 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 11/13/2018

The dashboard is cracked on driver side with plastic pieces falling down into dash, dashboard is also cracked on passenger side on the corner of the airbag. This is a known issue and I want it fixed. I feel that the airbags ability to deploy on passenger side is compromised if an accident occurs. I bought this vehicle with thoughts of being safe for me, my wife and two small children. Gm has said they are not going to fix it, this is my last plea for help. Replacing is expensive but feel like it's defect in vehicle design(evident by how many complaints I found). If there is a accident in this vehicle and airbag fails I will hold gm accountable for any harm caused to my family.

12 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 08/12/2018

Dashboard cracked in 2 areas. Off the upper left corner of the airbag & on the window side of the drivers console. Car was in the driveway stationary.

13 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2018

Dash is cracking and falling apart. Started as small crack and just continues to get larger and more wide spread.

14 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2018

The dash board is cracked and rattles near the air bag. This is concerning that if an accident would occur, the cracked dash could cause further bodily harm. This defect just showed up unexpectedly and I am afraid will crack more as time goes on. I cannot recall if it occurred while driving or stationary.

15 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 04/27/2018

Large crack in dashboard around airbag, and above control panel. Concerned about safety and efficacy of airbag, and dashboard in the event of a front end crash. Vehicle is garage parked. GMC wants $1,600 to replace on a 6 year old vehicle with less than 60,000 miles on it.

16 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 04/05/2018

Cracked dashboard. This is the second gm vehicles I've owned in which cracks appear on the dashboard for no apparent reason. My concern is if the air bag is deployed, small shards of plastic may lead to serious injury.

17 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2017

Dash pad on my 2012 Yukon denali cracked while sitting.

22 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2017

About one year ago we noticed a small crack at the corner of the lid to the passenger seat air bag. Now we have a crack at the hump of the steering wheel this is a huge safety concern to us as it could result in terrible injury in any number of ways. 1the air bag could explode at any time due to the crack in the lid area, without any warning and without the result of being in an accident thus harming anyone in the passenger seat 2the broken dash could result in terrific injury in the event of an accident and air bag deployment as the brittle pieces and sharp edges of cracked plastic become flying in the car 3the airbag could misfire due to the damaged lid (for example; hitting and breaking the windshield and not protecting the head of the passenger) causing further injury and harm 4the crack in the plastic of the dashboard could be even more extensive than we can see. The entire dashboard could be defective and cracked and suddenly fall off as the result of a bump or pothole causing injury and possible accident 5the defective dashboard plastic could have cracks that would cause wiring to be pinched, cut or severed causing heat, fire, and possible accidents and injuries 6sun shining thru the windshield could cause the cracks to widen 7our favorite 87 year old mom usually rides in the passenger seat. She is irreplaceable and invaluable. 8this is and has been a known issue to GMC. 9we are both disabled and on fixed incomes. We are unable to repair this ourselves and should not have to. Safety and dependability is one of the reasons we always purchased GMC Yukons. This is our 4th GMC Yukon/suburban. We never doubted that GMC made quality products that were consumer safe. Now this dashboard airbag issue has us very worried and concerned for our health and safety and the health and safety of all our family and passengers.

23 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2017

I am the orginal owner of my GMC Yukon denali 2012 and it has been garaged most of its life. About 2 months ago my dash started to vibrate then I notice a large crack in the dash just above the speedometer. The fact I have taken such good care of this vehicle leads me to believe this is a defect in the design. The cars value is diminished dramatically due to this visible defect. I have heard gm is no help on this but in my opinion gm's defect has caused a diminished value in my vehicle and therefore they are liable for any repair that is needed to my car to bring it back to the condition it was before the defect was visible. There is case law all over the place to support this.

24 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 07/09/2017

The dashboard is cracked around the passenger airbag and I think this is a safety hazard.

25 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 06/25/2017

The dashboard over the instrument panel is cracking and spreading. It seems as though the crack is getting larger by the day.

26 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 06/24/2017

Dashboard cracked in several places including above steering column and around passenger airbag in dashboard. Occurred when vehicle was stationary and not in use.

27 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 06/04/2017

Dashboard is cracking. If airbag is deployed dash may present a flying objects safety hazard with pieces of dash acting as projectiles.

28 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2017

There are two cracks on dash located on both sides just above passenger airbag . I am worried about plastic projectiles if involved in an accident. I am aware of several thousand other complaints of the exact same nature. I had spoke to faulkner GMC trevose about this issue. They did inform me they were aware of the problem and that they had several other complaints but refused to help due to the expiration of my bumper to bumper warranty. There was no trauma to vehicle. Dashboard is just cracking. The vehicle is exceptionally taken care of and garage kept.

29 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2017

The dash board is cracking and the dealer will not cover any repair because the vehicle is out of warranty. When the dash board fails to protect the electronics there is a danger of loss of control. My position is this is a common problem with this model and is a manufacturing defect and a recall should be issued.

30 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2017

My Yukon xl's dash board is cracking all over it soon pieces will fly off of it. I only have 47k miles on it. Here are pictures.

31 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 04/18/2017

The dash is cracking right above the steering column and next to the passenger airbag. They're very significant cracks that have exposed what's under the dash. I have more pictures that the system wouldn't allow me to upload. Available upon request.

32 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 03/06/2017

Recently purchased a 2012 Yukon denali didn't notice the cracks in the dash when I originally purchased. It has a crack on the dash near the airbag, and also a crack above the instrument panel in front of the steering wheel. I would think in the event of a crash with a airbag deployment the dash would already be compromised causing injury to the driver or passenger with shards of sharp plastic. Especially by the passenger airbag. I have researched online and noticed hundreds if not thousands of complaints about the same issue in model years 07-14 in chevy and gm products. I have contacted GMC and the local dealer directly with both parties basically saying its not their problem. This is obviously a design flaw that should have been recalled and I am surprised this has not happened by now. .

33 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 03/03/2017

Cracked dashboard.

34 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 02/20/2017

Cracked dashboard to the right of the trip/message center on the drivers side.

35 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2017

Cracked dashboard above instrument cluster and at passenger airbag location. I do not know if the vehicle was in motion or stationary when it happened. I noticed it while vehicle was stationary.
