I have an outstanding recall on my 2014 Yukon. This recall is several years old. As far as I can tell nothing has been done on this recall. This is a safety recall! previously I owned a 2008 Chevrolet suburban with the same recall on it. I was told that no parts were available for the repair. I repeat this is a safety recall!!! we had a wreck in the 2008 Chevrolet suburban which deployed the airbags. Lucky for us the airbag worked properly. My wife was setting in the front passenger seat. If the igniter had exploded she would have been seriously injured or killed. We bought this Yukon from carmax. The car came to us from alabama. Hot and high humidity. As I understand it these are the conditions that make the igniter more likely to explode. Please do something on this recall.
Dash board cracked in multiple places. If airbags deploy, shards of the dashboard will go flying. After research this seems to be a common problem with GMC.
Dashboard has cracked over the air bags leaving sharp, jagged points.
Dashboard cracked next to airbag my vehicle has 39,000 miles garage kept. I contacted dealership courtesy vermilion gm of abbeville, louisiana. Where I purchased it and they would not fix I then contacted gm senior advisor they would not fix it because they said I had extended warranty. I contacted extended warranty easy care purchased thru gm and they would not cover it also. There are thousands of gm vehicles that the dash has cracked my previous vehicle a gm sierra cracked in the same place and no recall has been done or bulletin to alarm customers. This is a defective product by gm and a safety issue that could cause injury if the airbag deployed. Can you please help to see if my vehicle can be repaired without having to pay anything and help the thousands of customers facing this problem.
As I have owned several GMC Yukons in the past, I was familiar with their dashboards cracking even when still under warranty. However, when my 2014 Yukon dashboard cracked, just out of warranty, I was shocked at the cost to replace and install a new dashboard. Thus, the replacement dashboard and labor charge to install it was simply unfeasable. As the dashboard continued to crack during the summer, an alternative mentioned to me by a mechanic at the GMC dealership was a "glued on cover called a dashskin. " I purchased a dashskin for about $125 and, following the instructions, glued the dashskin over my existing dashboard. The dashskin had an opening for the airbag and did not appear to impede the execution of the airbag should it be initiated. I've made two attempts to have the attached recall on the airbag satisfied but, on both occasions, GMC informed me that the dashboard would require removal. In my case, the dashboard and dashskin would be unusable and I would be back to purchasing a very expensive dashboard. I know that there has been a longterm, ongoing lawsuit against GMC regarding their cracking dashboards, but have no idea of the results. However, their airbag recall coupled with their inferior dashboards should be their expense, not mine.
Tl- the contact owns a 2014 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle the "service air bag" light had illuminated. The contacted indicated that the failure started with the light going off and on but had progressed and the light would stay pertinently on when operating the vehicle. The cause of the failure had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 39,000. Jft.
I had a front end collision at 25 mph with a parked car. My airbag(s) did not deploy. The entire front end of my car was destroyed. The hood was crumpled and both front quarter panels damaged. The front doors are not easily opened due to the quarter panel damage. It is hard for me to understand how an impact at the speed I was traveling and the location of impact did not cause the airbag(s) to deploy. I had to be transported via ambulance from the scene and suffered a concussion from my head slamming down on the steering wheel.
