Fuel Pump problems of the 2015 GMC Yukon

The contact owns a 2015 GMC Yukon. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, there was an abnormal odor coming from the inside of the vehicle. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed with a fuel pump leak. The contact was informed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The contact researched and became aware of an undisclosed recall however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 226,000.
