36 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2021

Driver side brake lights don't work again. This will be the 3rd time that I know of that this piece of equipment has been changed out.

37 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/29/2021

Brakes are not stopping the vehicle on short distances as it should. They are doing a clicking kind of noise and can feel pulses in the brake pedal as though abs are trying to activate. I know there is a recall out but is saying my 2015 is not listed yet is doing the same thing that is described in the recall.

38 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/24/2021

Led brake lights fail due to design error typically on both side of the vehicle. I have found multiple reports of a failure on a circuit board that was poorly designed. A copper tracing is very narrow and fractures due to vibration resulting in brake light failure. Because the entire module must be replaced the repair costs $800-$900 per side.

39 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2021

Issue when braking. Lots of force needed at times to stop. Seems to occur more at slower speeds.

40 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/18/2020

The brakes on my 2015 GMC Yukon suddenly became extremely difficult to operate with very hard brake pedal and increased stopping distance. I was able to bring the vehicle to the dealer for service. They informed me that there was no output from the engine vacuum pump to the brake booster and it would be addressed under a special coverage warranty from gm repaired. However, after fixing the covered part of the vacuum pump assembly, they indicated that the problem was still prevalent and determined they also needed to replace the brake booster that was also at fault. The brake booster was not covered under the special coverage and resulted in a significant charge. It seems that the braking system issues are related and needs to be looked into further.

41 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/07/2020

There was a recall for low break failure it was recall 19v645. I had this done last year and today I almost hit a car in the drive through side the brakes are still doing the same thing going to the floor. They need to replace the faulty vacuum pump. I experience this while backing out and stopping at slow speeds.

42 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2020

This vehicle was purchased on 7/05/2019 with miles 52,000 and the trailer breake system has gone bad 2 times already and I haven’t never used the trailer hook for anything is just so expensive to fixed it and goes bad again and all part we’re purchased from the dealership even the dealer said is a manufacturer error and this will keep happening because is manufacturer error was not designed correctly as a consumer I feel that I shouldn’t be paying for their mistake GMC should do recall and get this issue fixed as soon as possible and fixed it 2 times I have been at the dealership to get this issue fixed and I’ll probably be back again to get fixed and like mentioned is not cheap to fixed please do something about this matter I’ll gladly appreciate.

43 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2020

Major safety issues with this vehicle. Another 2015 Yukon with no tail or stop lights. I'm over millage on special recall. There should be no time/millage issue on this. Seat belts lock up. Brakes are either good or mussy whenever they want to be. Hard to stop the vehicle. Also when I first purchased the vehicle it would completely die (no lights motor died, no power steering, no air bags, no radio nothing at all on the x-way at 70 mph) and the dealer could not repair it! rust on frame rails. (and more).

44 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2020

Service box appears indicating - "trailer brake system" with a loud bing, bing, bing alert sound. It continues every few minutes. . . Please note: we aren't using a trailer. . . I have googled/youtube it and found that this is an issue with many owners. They indicate that the wire harness in between two of the body control modules is defective. It is known to have faulty wire connection. This is intermittent, goes for months and stops for months, and then starts up again. Starting the vehicle, while driving slow or fast, it doesn't matter.

45 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/29/2020

Upon pressing the brakes while parking, pedal started vibrating and brake pedal became impossible to press. Pedal continues to remain hard to press for braking.

46 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/06/2020

The contact owns a 2015 GMC Yukon. The contact stated while driving 5 mph, the brake pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to stop as intended. The brake warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard. The vehicle was slowly driven to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA campaign number: 19v645000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

47 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2020

Drivers side tail light intermittently works, doesn't work all the time. Passenger side brake light stays on continuously, never changes.

48 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/09/2019

2015 GMC Yukon. Consumer writes seeking reimbursement for vehicle repairs related to safety recall.

49 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2019

My vehicle has suffered from poor slow speed braking since it was new. I was told this is just a characteristic of the vehicle. When I pointed out this problem again, I was told that gm recommends replacing the vacuum pump, but since I was out of warranty, I would have to pay out of pocket. After numerous accidents and complaints to the NHTSA, gm issue a recall. The recall did not call for replacing the vacuum pump as gm had previously requested, and instead did a software update. I just had this recall performed, and the brakes are now worse than ever before. Today, I was pulling into a carwash, and when I hit the brakes, they were hard as a rock and would not stop my vehicle. I almost hit the vehicle in front of me. I had to warn the person at the carwash to be careful that the brakes were not working properly. After he moved my vehicle, he said that he new what I was talking about. This situation can be very dangerous. It may cause you to strike the vehicle in front of you. If there is a person between you and the vehicle in front of you, such as a carwash, they may be crushed between the two vehicles. This problem occurs only at low speed such as parking lots or in stop and go traffic. This problem has been occuring since the vehicle was new. It is now worse after having the recall performed to correct this problem. The most recent occurence was today.

50 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/30/2019

I was never notified of a recall on the vacuum pump that controls the brakes. My brakes went out while driving without warning. Brought it to the dealership, and of course they only covered the recalibration of the vacuum pump but not the vacuum pump itself. Absolutely ridiculous and very expensive repair that I feel GMC should be responsible for in full.

51 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/17/2019

When driving at slow speeds I lose breaking power. It takes both feet pressing as hard as I can to get the car to stop. I have nearly hit two cars while parking and several in traffic while in rush hour. It feels as though I lose vacuum. If I increase the rpm's on the vehicle I regain vacuum. Usually happens when parking.

52 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/08/2019

Tl-the contact owns a 2015 GMC Yukon xl. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 10-15 mph, the brake pedal was depressed bu failed to stop the vehicle. The vehicle crashed into the rear of another vehicle. A police report was filed. There were no injuries sustained. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed. The vehicle was subjected to NHTSA campaign number: 19v645000(service brakes, hydraulic). Geoff penske Buick GMC, 100 s museum rd, shillington, PA 19607, (484) 525-0979, informed the contact that the vehicle was included in the recall. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure, case numbers: 9-5487572705, 9-5520075396. The approximate failure mileage was 57000. Ah.

53 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2019

While sitting still at a drive through, brake pedal went to floor as if it had no pressure. Had no brakes! no matter how hard I stood on pedal the car would not come to complete stop when rolling. Blew through stop signs and lights because even at 10 mph could not stop vehicle from rolling. Had just got off interstate doing 70 mph. Down hill grade was impossible. Found out that this was a known issue by gm involving failure of vacuum pump booster. Many reports, hopefully not many deaths caused.

54 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/24/2019

While on vacation he brakes started fading, especialy at slow speeds. Creating a very unsafe situation at highway speeds. My dealer says they have not had any problems but it is all over the internet.

55 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/04/2019

Vehicle brakes feel like they lock up often I have to push as hard as I can, the dash says "brake assist" or something when they feel like they lock up. I've almost hit cars several times because they lock up like this and theres nothing I can do. Happens often and varying speeds 10-70!.

56 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2019

The brake pedal was very hard and would not completely stop the vehicle as very low speed in the driveway. Stopped and restarted the engine and the operation was normal. This has occurred one time earlier several months before and has operated normally since.

57 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2019

Pulling into parking spot low speed braking power was lost. . Hard brake pedal.

58 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/14/2019

The most disturbing concern is the fact that I lost my brakes as a result of a known problem that gm has even recognized relating to a faulty vacuum booster pump. I incurred a $500 repair bill despite gm's acknowledgement of the problem and willingness to pay for cars with less than 70000 miles. Unfortunately, mine was over the allowable mileage. Additionally, I am looking at a $1500 repair bill for a sealed headlight replacement and another $300 bill for a side detection system ( lane departure warning). Gm made a poor car that is unsafe and is not properly addressing the problem.

59 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/19/2019

Rear brake and tail lights do not work intermittently. Sometimes the lights work and sometimes they don't.

60 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/18/2019

While driving my Yukon, I was preparing to stop a light only to struggle with pressing the brake pedal, almost hit a vehicle that was in front of me.

61 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/14/2019

Brake pedal gets hard in slow moving and stop & go driving causing vehicle to be hard to stop with no break power. This situation gets worse when towing a trailer in traffic an down hill where you need the brake power.

62 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/05/2019

Brakes get hard when towing my boat and sometimes in stop and go traffic.

63 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/04/2019

Brakes are unresponsive and stuff brake pedals at low speeds. While driving at very low speeds the brakes will not engage and stop the vehicle. I was pulling into a parking stop and the brakes would not respond unless I stomped on them going less than 5mph. It happens often with the same scenario. Driving at a very low rate of speed and my vehicle will not stop when the brakes are pressed.

64 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/26/2019

I lost brakes. Extreme pressure on peddle required for brakes to engage. Even then only reduced braking power was available. Required replacement of vacuum pump and booster. Occurred when vehicle engine was at idle. Otherwise brakes felt week but available.

65 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/19/2019

Brake pedal is stiff at low speeds. The pedal locks up and stopping is delayed 2 to 3 feet. It makes operating the vehicle unsafe. I have done research on this issue. Others are experiencing the same dangerous delayed stopping distance and stiff brake pedal at low speeds.

66 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/02/2019

From time to time brake pedal becomes hard when backing up or going forward making the vehicle hard to come into a complete stop.

67 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2019

When slowly turning into garage, brake pedal became "hard" and required significant foot force to stop the vehicle. The condition has not improved and I will have to tow the vehicle to the dealership for repairs.

68 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/07/2019

Tail lamps would intermittently operate. At times none would work at others some would work. And others all would work. GMC finally addresses this with: n182180270 (special coverage). GMC was aware of this issue on or prior to November 26, 2019. They stated notifications to customers would begin on December 12, 2019. I was notified today 2-12-2020 well after GMC was aware of issues. GMC allows for warranty of 6 years after placed in service or 72,000 miles. Since my vehicle had 902 miles at time of purchase my warranty expired at 72,902 miles. Had GMC made me aware in December or too after knowing in late Nov 2019 I would still have been under warranty for a resolution to fix issues. There willful negligence in failing to notify me hindered their available warranty under special coverage of no use to me to my detriment of several hundred dollars (~$1800 usd).

69 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/26/2018

Had an accident in 2018 air bags did not deploy and when tried to stop and pushed on my brake pedal, it was like it froze and I was still moving. I was driving 37mph on a city street when the accident happened.

70 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/18/2018

Faulty brake vacuum pump caused vehicle to not brake at slow speeds when attempting to stop in drive thru restaurant and stop light on state route.
