Failure Date: 06/22/2020

3 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/26/2020

I purchased by vehicle in the summer of 2015. It has been in the shop numerous times for various issues, mostly electrical involving the computer and software, or issues involving my tires or steering when turning the steering wheel. . My "driver assist" has malfunctioned many times and I have taken it to the shop to have it repaired on 3 separate occasions. Last summer my front and rear lights started flickering and stopped working. I spent $800 for the back passenger brake light and almost $1000 for the front driver head light assembly. I also had to get a new battery for this vehicle. My 2015 GMC Yukon xl is now malfunctioning again and this time, I am told that the seat motor (that alerts you when you are near an obstacle has burned out. ) about 4 days ago, I became aware of ticking noise while my car has been idle. I immediately scheduled a maintenance appointment. Today, I am also informed that my "lifters" are bad on the vehicle and my engine is going bad. I am told the air conditioning condenser has burned out, I am told the motor under my seat is burned out. I have performed routine maintenance, I get oil changes regularly and use high quality synthetic oils. I take my car to the shop at least 2x per year for problems and some major repair is always required. This is a car that I am going into the 5th year of ownership this summer. Originally. I was told that there was a recall for brakes, now I am told there is not, but I have taken my car in for various recalls at least 3x. This is an unsafe, defective vehicle. Every system fails. I am now in search of a new vehicle. I have driven other gm vehicles (grand am, hummer) and none have required so much repair costs. Today I am told that it will cost $6800 to repair my vehicle to make it safe. My repair records will show the repairs and service charges I have paid since purchase. This is a lemon.

8 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2019

Tail lamps, tail lamps tail lamps! non serviceable led illumination bulb circuit is faulty leading to intermittent operation. Having part time brake light is against the law and more important to me, leaves my family in an unsafe situation. Web search leads to many motorist having the same problem as I. As a paying taxpayer we should not be sold faulty goods that may have dire consequences.

9 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/12/2019

While traveling on a highway to work-related camp, upon arrival, CO-workers informed me one of my brake lights was out. Brakelight worked sporadically before completely going out for about 2 weeks finally being able to show service department. Researched cargurus and numerous people reported the circuit cracks and eventually burns out. Design flaw which turns into a safety issue!!! recall is needed!!!.

10 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2019

My 2015 Yukon xl has no brake light that is working on the left side. I thought maybe you could replace the bulb but as I found out, it is a led sealed unit that was never meant to go out. Now as I look up this problem with other Yukon xl owners, I see that it is a problem with lots of owners! so why is this not a recall item by now. Apparently it is a big issue! a new whole light assembly to fix this issue is over 800 bucks! these brake lights not working are a huge safety issue!.

11 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/08/2019

Rear brake light assembly failing to light when brakes applied and there is not a notification to the driver. This is a manufacture flaw with the led light circuit inside the assembly. There is not a light out notification so the driver is not aware the brake light has failed. This is a safety issue and is an well known issue on the 2015-2019 Yukon. This is occurring often and GMC is having problems with supplying replacements because the demand is so high from the failure. GMC has also raised the price of the brake light by 30% from $425 to $675 not including labor. I called the dealer and they informed it was a high failing item and was on backorder and not sure when they would get one. Driving the vehicle without proper brake lights is a safety concern and not legal so left with little option but to stop driving the Yukon.

12 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/28/2019

The left brake light failed with 57k miles. The right one then failed at 61k miles. The dealer wanted $735 each to fix them, as they claim they need to replace the entire led housing. The dealer is well-aware that this is a common problem, and it would appear based on googling the issue that many others have experienced this failure from gm.

13 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/26/2019

Both brake lights work intermittently. If you tap hard on it they sometimes come back on but don't stay on. I took to GMC dealer where they informed me they've had a dozen Yukon's in recently with the same issue. Dealer indicated issue is faulty circuit board that overheats causing the lights to short out. I'm out of manufacturers warranty. Extended warranty does not cover lights. Dealer charges $800 per light (part only).

14 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2019

Brake light failure. First on driver's side then months later on passenger side. Vehicle was in motion. Hundreds of complaints are posted on the internet yet gm will not recall.

15 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/17/2019

Tail/brake lights failed causing a safety concern. Took vehicle in to GMC dealer for repair. Left tail light (actually the entire printed circuit board) was replaced, right is on back order. Vehicle out of factory warranty and even though we had an extended bumper to bumper warranty, the work was not covered. This is a frequent issue, I have discovered on line, according to many owners of GMC suvs and trucks between the 2015 and 2018 models. Cost of repair including both tail lights is 1617. 05. GMC supported me by covering 600. 00 of the cost so I paid 1017. 05 out of pocket for 2 tail lights that should not have failed. I have only 24554 miles on the vehicle and have never had an accident. Additional to that, the 2 front seat belts are fraying which may lead to weakness eventually causing a safety issue. I want GMC to cover all costs related to repair of these two problems. There should be a recall regarding both. Seat belt problem has been on going for months and the tail light thing just happened on Monday, June 17, 2019.

16 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2019

Vehicle fails to stop properly at low speeds. Brakes become hard and vehicle will roll to a stop. Brake lights appear to have a short and work intermittently.

17 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/23/2019

Both led brake lights stopped working. They were both replaced by the dealership. Now approximately 7 months later the passenger brake light has stopped working again. This is a very expensive part, which cost $700. 00 each side, and has failed twice in year. From a simple search on the internet this seems to be a very common problem for GMC Yukon's and denali's but there is not a recall for this failure. The problem seems to be a faulty design. The solder connection prematurely breaks and causes the led brake lights to not work.

18 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/17/2019

Takata recall driver side brake light stop working while driving in the city streets.

19 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2019

My GMC youkon denali has brake lights that are known to dealers to fail. Yet there is not a recall. I looked on the inter net and saw that there has been this problem since 2015 to 2018. Because of a joint that was soldered instead of a wire. I know why when I brought it in for recall that the service man looked at my stop lights.

20 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2019

I bought my GMC Yukon in March of 2019 about a week later I had people inform me my brake lights were not working. I would check at night and they would. A few months later I noticed it myself, they would work one minute but not the next. December of 2019 I get a letter from GMC stating they know 2015 model GMC Yukon vehicles may have a condition where the brake lights intermittently do not illuminate. I could have it done if my SUV was not over 72k miles but it was when I bought it. So that doesn't help me and they want $2k to fix it. I called to see what they could do and they told me this wasn't a safety issue. If they do work and someone doesn't see I am braking, my kids or family are in the back seat, how is that not safety related? they need to make this a recall!.

21 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/03/2019

Within the last year on my 2015 my ac compressor has gone out, radio screen quit working, brake pump/booster faulty, and now rear brake light quit working. All seem to be very common in this year model. My car has less than 70000 miles on it!! gm is either doing a crappy job on their $60000 vehicles or a recall needs to be done.

22 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2019

Tail light lighting strip spontaneously malfunctioned and stopped working. Vehicle has no light and no brake lighting which could have resulted in auto accident. Within a month the headlight has burned out resulting in a blinker malfunction. Vehicle was on highway when both lights malfunctioned.

23 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/26/2019

Intermittent brake light activation on both left and right. It happens stopped and in motion. Very dangerous! it is a known issue with broken contacts inside a sealed housing. The issue is posted all over the forums but GMC refuses responsibiliy.

24 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2019

takata recall we just purchased our 2015 Yukon dinali xl December 20, 2018 and have had nothing but problems with brake light ( while in motion ) on driver-side working intermittently, so we replaced both taillights with brand new ($700) enclosed rear light assembly and now we are having an issue with driver side once again. I'm very proud to buy american made products but after seeing how many GMC monthly complaints with this same issue, you would think that gm would stand behind their product. I know myself being in business if I had a complains more than three times a month I would try my best to correct the problem to keep from having a bad reputation and have a future customers!! I take pride in my work for what our customer pays, and expect the same for what I pay!!.

25 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2019

The brake and tail lights on this GMC Yukon only randomly light up. Have been told random times by other motorist that brake or tail lights are not working on highway. I've contacted gm multiple times on phone and at dealer and they want me to pay out of pocket to fix this safety issue. They finally sent a letter out today noting there aware of this problem but still want fix mine because it's over 72k on Yukon. Safety has no mileage limit and gm needs to fix these problems. Google this issue and you will see the internet is full of complaints about gm led brake and tail lights going bad. Thanks for any help with this matter.

26 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2019

Rear led brake lights only work intermittently.

27 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 12/18/2018

Vehicle tail lights and brake lights quit working. The led circuits break causing the connection to short out. Both the tail lights and brake lights do not work once the circuit is broke. The owner can't simply fix the burnt out tail light. One must completely replace the entire assembly, costing upwards of $1,000 for both. This is not cost effective and is downright hazardous when both tail lights go out, for both the owner and other drivers on the road. The tail light assembly should be able to resist road bumps and vibrations.

28 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 11/23/2018

We purchased this vehicle on 11. 21. 18 and the brake lights intermittently don't work. They were working at the time we drove it off the lot. The bulbs were tested by our mechanic and he stated that the GMC Yukon of this year are known to have major problems with the brake light housing units on the rear of the vehicle. The electrical board associated with it has issues the mechanic stated. I reviewed many post online and wonder why this isn't a required recall. To me this is a major safety concern and we bought this vehicle to transport my kids and wife. I'd like this to be considered a recall immediately.

29 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2018

The brake lights on my 2015 GMC Yukon xl have both gone out. I have been pulled over and questioned about it several times by my local law enforcement. I believe the manufacturer state that they have a life of 40,000 hours of continuous use but, only function for a fraction of this amount & they are $600-700 to replace.

30 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2018

Tl- the contact owns a 2015 GMC Yukon denali. The brake light off, the light was replaced by the contact and went out a few days later, both brake light s went out. The vehicle was taken to the capitol Buick GMC (408-335-7526, located at 909 capitol expressway auto mall, san jose, CA 95136) and the contact was told that the tail lights and the brake lights needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 45,000 . Fe.

31 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2018

Tl - the contact owns a 2015 GMC Yukon. The contact stated while driving 65 mph when she pressed on the brakes the tail lights and the brake lights seized and the trunk light flickered and no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to dealer delano Chevrolet Buick GMC (600 1st Ave, delano, CA 93215. 661-735-4974) to be diagnosed but had not been diagnosed yet or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000. Jc.

32 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/29/2018

The passenger tail light is working intermittently. The dealer said that the only fix is to buy a new brake light unit @ $650. After searching on line, other options are to send brake light unit off for repair, or purchase after market brake light unit. As many people that are having this same issue, it sure seems like GMC would correct this faulty brake light.

33 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/25/2018

Brake lights are failing intermittently. Dealer has recommended replacing both tail light housing assemblies at a significant cost of $750 each. Dealer has also stated this is a "common problem" of the 2015 GMC vehicles with an led brake light design; no easy or affordable solution out there.

34 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2018

My right side brake assembly seems to only work when it wants too. Works on cold mornings, but as the day gets warmer the light assembly doesn't work anymore. No lights, or brake lights.

35 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/12/2018

Rear left and right brake lights stopped working with no warning while at a stop light in the city. Apparently several GMC Yukon 2015 owners are having the same problem and it's an electrical defect with the taillights it's not the bulbs.
