Electric power steering (eps) assist was lost while I was driving the vehicle. As a result, I had difficulty steering the vehicle without power steering and almost caused a crash.
Vehicle has issue turning at times message on dash says reduced steering had trouble turning and almost caused a accident.
My engine went out, and I had to have it rebuilt. There was a check engine light on. My steering goes out and in without warning while driving. I have talked to the dealership, and they stated that all safety recalls were done on my vehicle. My safety and those of others were put at risk when the steering failed. I almost crashed my vehicle in traffic. There were no warning messages prior to the failure. I did see that there was a recall in 2019 and the dealership will not inspect the vehicle without payment.

Driving at a normal speed around 30 mph when vehicle suddenly becomes hard to steer as if the power steering just cut out or off therefore making it extremely difficult to control the vehicle and felt like a rough ride while this is taking place. . . . . Definitely sounds like a safety issue. . . . . . Dash reading warning service pwwr steering.
My car is giving me all kinds of warnings, parking assist off, rear back up, trailer brake, the radio sounds go off, blinker sounds go off, while trying to park power steering locks up, it will die in the middle of a turn. It’s doing everything the 2015 recall was created for. I do not think my car was fixed during the recall period. It is very hazardous.
Loss of power steering, loss of abs, loss of cruise control, loss of forward crash assist, loss of lane departure, lose of side detection, oil leak from oil cooler line connection leaking down engine, potential fire, parking sensor, arm rest phone charger short circuit potential fire, wires pinched off at hinge point of center counsel, trailer brake system, stabilitrac, all current errors make vehicle unsafe to drive, ongoing issues since purchase including service reports of the same issues from previous owner.
My wife was driving at a low speed completing a right hand turn through an intersection and as she completed the turn the vehicle completely lost all steering. The vehicle ran up onto a curb but she was able to stop before she hit a poll. The vehicle was towed home and I found that there was no power to the steering wheel controls, the horn didn't work and there were electronic steering warnings. I also found that the steering wheel could spin freely like a top without any movement of the wheels. Upon examination in the engine compartment I found that the bottom of the steering shaft was completely disconnected and the single bolt that holds the 2 pieces together was missing. I took the vehicle to the local GMC dealership and they conformed that the bolt was missing and the shafts came apart which lead to the steering failure. The free movement of the steering wheel caused the internal malfunction of the steering wheel electronics. Prior to the steering failure there was no indications of any steering issues. The steering warning lights didn't come on until the steering failure. My wife and children were about to get on the freeway when the failure occurred and could have led to a fatal accident if this failure occurred while she was driving on the freeway. I contacted gm and opened a case but was informed that they would not provide any assistance with the repair which is about $2900. I don't understand how gm would design a steering shaft that has a single point failure that could lead to a catastrophic failure. The vehicle has 120k miles and has never been in any accidents. I expect a basic safety feature such as the steering to never fail during operation. I will never purchase another gm vehicle and will tell as many people as I can about the potential failure. The power steering locks up and the display on dash reads power steering losethis has happened 6 times and each time I've had to go rescue my wife this is her car. I found out that I could remove the battery cable from battery to reset the problem but it only last for a short while.
While driving on highway institute steering power and could barely control the steering wheel while power assist warning, stabilize, airbag light and passenger windows wouldn't go up.
When I get to a red light or a parking spot sometimes the power steering gets hard and it gets hard for me to steer it doesn't do it all the time but I has done it more than 3 times and scared vehicles power steering might stop working one day.
I can turn the steering wheel side to side and the car dies power goes low air conditioning fans blow less and get warnings on dash to roll down drivers window and then back up.
Steering locks up at lower speeds or when turning into a parking lot all the ligths shut off at the same time the steering does it has happened more at night lights flicker both interior lights and exterior lights a/c shuts off radio shuts off I have went to different dealers and have not been able to fix this problem even doh I show them videos of what it does both my wife and I have almost had a few accidents because of this.
Power steering lost momentarily after operating for 45 minutes and returning when vehicle is shut off for 10 minutes.
The problem I been having is with the steering. When you turn the steering wheel suddenly or just kinda fast the steering assist will lock up and all of the dashboard and ac will shut off and than restarts. Not all the time but about 6 times the engine shut off completely. This is a very serious and dangerous situation that it puts you in this can happen when stationary when you trying to pull out on the highway or at slot speed when trying to turn this happens all the time.
When parking the steering wheel locks up, the monitor that plays the radio shuts of and my speedometer monitor shows 3 to 4 different warnings such as brake assist off, park assist off, stabilitrak and power steering. This is while the car is in motion as well as when I put it in park.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 GMC Yukon. While driving various speeds, the steering lost power without warning. The contact stated that the failure began after being repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 18v586000 (steering). The vehicle was taken to bruce lowrie Chevrolet (817-264-7776, located at 711 sw loop 820, fort worth, TX 76134) where the recall repair was performed. The technician re-flashed the computer and stated that the recall was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact back to the same dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 51,000.
Engine shuts off, steering assist disappears and steering wheel is jerked out of my hand, stabilitrak warnings on dash, hvac screen goes blank, chimes start going off. This occurred as I was pulling into a parking lot and I almost hit another car. The vehicle was moving at no more than 10mph.
This is the second complaint that I have made to NHTSA. The first time, the vehicle was spontaneously turning off and shutting down during backing in and turns causing a safety issue. This resulted in a recall, and a "software update" that was done twice to correct the issue. Right and back passenger lights began to blink on and off and water gets into the brake light. The dealer told me this was m issue. This time the 4wd service light came and the car appeared to be stuck in "4wd low" making it "drag" at a reduced speed when driving. Also, the "service trailer brake" light came on repeatedly. I have never used the trailer brake. I took it into an authorized dealer, sellers GMC in farmington hills, mi. They told me I needed a new "module", so I paid to have that done. Within one day the same service lights came on again. "service 4 wd" and "service trailer brake. " I immediately took the vehicle back and am now being told it needs another software update and a new trailer brake transfer switch. Quite frankly, I believe that this model has significant, unaddressed computer software issues and the dealer does not know who to fix it. The car is unsafe because it spontaneously stops working appropriately during driving. The concerns have been various and always seem to affect steering, when turning or backing in. I am being charged for various control panels and modules. I am requesting that this concern gets addressed before there is a serious injury. I would like my vehicle fixed and returned to a safe condition. I was never told upon purchase, that this model would require so many "software" updates to remain safe. This should not be a burden placed on a consumer for a vehicle to operate safely. This is dangerous.

When using steering to turn around, turn into a parking space or back in, parking assist off show up on the instrument panel, then the steering wheels locks and the car turns off while still engaged in drive. Sometimes brake assist comes on first. Extremely dangerous. When this happens, unable to turn steering wheel. Car shuts down and doors lock. I have to put it in park and restart the car. Sometimes it does it more than once after restarting the car. I have taken it to a GMC dealer for evaluation and repair. Has happened at least 6 different times. When driving, I am always afraid to make sharp turns. However, it has only happened at slow speeds when trying to turn in to a driveway or turn around such as in a parking lot.
During maneuver in parking lot trying to turn around steering got extremely stiff which resulted in me running into side walk, ramp. The only part of my vehicle that was damage was the driver side front wheel. Curb rash beyond repair. At the time I was not aware of vehicle recall and did not file an accident report.
I have had an on-going issue with the steering, electrical and power steering and stability control. I have had repeated issues with the stability control turning off, sudden drop in electrical power, the steering wheel gets violently yanked out of your hands and sometime the car completely cuts off. Fortunately most have been at slow speeds or else the car would have flipped. It is the exact same issue other models have been recalled for but my VIN is not included in that recall. I am afraid of this issue killing me or my loved ones should it happen at speed or leave us stuck in front of on coming traffic. According to my dealer this is an issue the manufacture has know about for a while.

I was driving on heavily-congested I-66 eastbound in the DC metro area (northern virginia) at 70mph. My vehicle alerts me with chime, so I look down at the communication center. I see an alert that says: service power steering assist. I decrease my speed and safely pull over to the right shoulder. I turn off my vehicle to see if the issue would reset. I turned it back on, and it did not. I call my husband to alert him of the issue. I safely reentered the highway, and it took all my might to get my vehicle back on the road. I arrived at work and could barely steer to park my vehicle. I called my dealer to let them know what happened. He looked up my truck by VIN and said there was no recall on it; however, there is a recall for the same issue on other vehicles identical to mine. Apparently, there is an issue with this part on more than the vins that are currently listed, and I would like to get this issue resolved ASAP. I am hoping that the same thing with my a/c condenser does not happen: I paid $1,000 and had to wait 3 months to get it fixed because the part was on backorder, and months later, I received a letter in the mail saying that there is an issue with the part and gm would fix it -- well after the fact -- and that same issue affected so many people. I will admit, this is the very last gm vehicle I will purchase if I have to come out of pocket for this power steering assist issue. Sometimes I wonder if certain personal demographics are tied to these vins after a sale. Recall number 14v719000 recall date 11/10/2014 component steering:electric power assist system.
Steering wheel creates a locking/popping/clicking noise while making turns. This is caused by a loosening of the bolt which may affect the wheel bearings creating a potentially dangerous situation. This needs to be addressed before something serious happens. The condition occurs whenever the steering wheel is turned to the left or right, from 0-35 mph.
The contact owns a 2015 GMC Yukon. While driving, the steering wheel became difficult to turn and the contact had to apply force in order to steer the vehicle. The failure occurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (kendell Ford, 344 goodpasture island rd, eugene, or 97401, (855) 981-5490), but the failure was unable to be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 14v714000 (steering) as a possible solution. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 60,000.
Both my tail lights have failed. Dealer wants insane amount of money for new ones, so I opened up the lights and there is an obvious design flaw in the lights, to me it seems intentional at worst, incompetent at best. I am an electrical engineer, and there is no reason they should put a friction connection in the led power bar, it is a glaring design flaw. Also having steering assist issue at low speed which was an issue that was supposed to be fixed in a previous recall service, but it is still malfunctioning.
Had 30,000 miles and my steering colum was making popping noise. The dealership tried to just repair the bearings but it only worked for 2 weeks. They had to replace the whole steering colum. Brakes are squeaking for no reason had les schwann check them and still can't figure it out. My a/c now quit working. Struts in hatch also had to be replaced and passenger window molding is coming off.
My steering wheel pops when turning it. Dealer tried repair, but continues to pop. Now out of warranty, and worse than before. $1,000 charge to replace the upper bearing.
