1 Body problem

Failure Date: 05/13/2022

The paint delaminated from the clear coat in certain locations (mainly hood and roof) although the vehicle body has been well maintained. This has caused a foggy scratched appearance to the affected areas where the rest of the car looks great. This problem is well known across many gm vehicles in the 2015-2019 range and has led to significantly decreased value of the vehicle itself.

2 Body problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2022

After sitting outside over night, the back door latch failed. No lights came on ahead of time and there was no other warnings on the dash. There were 22 boxes of flooring in the trunk. I made it 1. 3 miles down the road at a low speed. After sitting at a stop light I turned left and accelerated to 45mph. The hatch opened and the boxes of flooring began falling out and onto the road. Each box weighed approximately 35 lbs. Luckily there was no one directly behind me and they mostly hit a trailer I was pulling. Other than the flooring there doesn't appear to be any further damage. I suspect there was ice in the latch, but that's just a guess.

3 Body problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2020

Shortly after purchasing the vehicle in sept 2020 my onstar module failed. Started noticing water in the driver floorboard. The shark fin antenna is leaking, causing major electrical failures and shortages. No gps, onstar won't work. These fins need to be recalled and fixed properly.

4 Body problem

Failure Date: 06/26/2020

Recieved a recall notice for my 2016 Yukon xl, due to brake vacuum pump faulty. However mcgrath auto in cedar rapids, IA resolve to this recall was to simply reprogram the electronic brake control module. This was completed 12/19. By 2/20 my brakes were requiring me to push harder and at times sounded like they were skipping and braking felt delayed. I also was hearing a squeak/clicking sound coming from what seems the front of my vehicle engine area. Due to quarantine I was not driving or going places but once our state re-opened I called this dealership to report the brake concern and scheduled appt. A day before appt, while stopped at a red light as I moved forward in a very slow crawl my brakes failed me and I could not stop. I bumped the car in front of me which resulted in damage to both vehicles. I reported this to mcgrath as I was scared immensely about the safety of my vehicle. During the service appt 6/11/20 my car was diagnosed with a faulty brake vacuum pump. The vacuum pump was replaced and I was told I was still within the warranty . However they replace all 4 tires and claimed to recalibrate. On 6/25 while in colorado brake, abs and cal lights lit up, the steering wheel power was gone, trailer brake system illuminate, (never even towed a trailer) called mcgrath from colorado as I couldnt drive my car, I explained what was happening, their resolve was to google GMC dealership in area for me. I found my own in Cadillac/GMC dealership in boulder. My children and I are without a vehicle while out of state. Dealership in boulder diagnosed my vehicle with faulty electronic brake control module. I am furious as they say it will not be covered through warranty. My 2016 Yukon is in impeccable condition, issues all happened upon recall with only 35,000 miles. My experience is exactly what is being reported by others impacted by this recall.

5 Body problem

Failure Date: 03/31/2020

The paint on the hood and roof have lost their luster. According to a GMC collision center (sheehan Cadillac collision center, pompano beach, FL) the issue is very common on dark color vehicles and it is even happening to the escalade. Was quoted $5,195. 30 to repair and gm indicates they will only cover 30% of the amount. My car has always been serviced at sheehan Buick/GMC. Even contacted the gm customer care center and would not budge.

6 Body problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2019

Running boards failing to work properly all the time. Sometimes will start to go down but return up when opening door. Will also fail to go up after closing door and remain down. Middle row dvd screen is black and not working. Rear brake lights working off and on. Horrible loud squealing sound under the hood. The vehicle will also begin to shake randomly and feels jumpy at times.

7 Body problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2019

Gps is not working. Antenna.

8 Body problem

Failure Date: 10/09/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2016 GMC Yukon xl. While the contact's wife was driving 65 mph, water leaked from the headliner console. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.

9 Body problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2018

Water leak due to bad front windshield seal, water leak through gps antenna, four wheel drive module was bad, dvd player stopped working, and lastly a horrible vibration that occurred around 77-83 mph. To the point the vehicle did not feel safe to handle. Trim on the b post kept coming loose. This all occurred in over a years period of time. This was my second vehicle because I traded in my 2015 tahoe because it was having many of the same issues and more. Gm did repair all issues other than the shaking, they wanted me to buy tires and after reading other complaints on the shaking I refused, the tires only had 25,800ish miles on them.

10 Body problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2018

Rear brake lights keep going out, parking assist sensors do not work, satellite antenna leaks water on to steering wheel when it rains.

11 Body problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2018

High frequency antenna leaking water. This is preventing the vehicle's onstar system from accurately determining the vehicle's location; it has disabled vehicle's compass, navigation, and xm radio systems; the red onstar led indicator has turned on ; and water is leaking into the interior passenger compartment. A recall was issued for the 2015 Yukon xl for this same exact problem. However, I am having the same exact problem with my 2016 model. I have attached the recall issued for the 2015 models.
