The contact stated that while the vehicle was at the local service center, the mechanic discovered that the oil level was extremely low and determined that the vehicle had experienced excessive oil consumption. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 25v274000 (engine and engine cooling); the engine was inspected and a higher viscosity oil was added to the engine. The failure mileage was 60,100.
The contact owns a 2022 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle lost automotive power, with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was restarted after several attempts; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as needed and was towed to the dealer. The vehicle was repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 25v274000 (engine and engine cooling); however, at start-up there was an abnormal ticking sound coming from the engine and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that there were metal shavings inside the oil filter and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000.
