1 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 03/17/2026

The brake system control module, engine control module, and vehicle stability control system have repeatedly failed across 24 months and 9 repair attempts at two authorized GMC dealerships in tennessee. As of March 17, 2026 the vehicle has 27 active diagnostic fault codes including u160f and u1610 (brake system control module lost communication on both can buses), u1611 (engine control module lost communication), and c2a0a (vehicle stability control disabling inhibited). All components are available for inspection at beaman GMC in antioch, tennessee where the vehicle currently remains in an undrivable condition. Safety risk: vehicle has stalled on the highway with my family including young children in the car. Brakes have randomly engaged over 100 times with nothing around and also failed to engage when needed. Stability control is disabled. These are active safety failures confirmed by GMC's own diagnostic scans. The problems have been confirmed by both darrell waltrip GMC and beaman GMC across 9 visits. GMC's own technical assistance center (case xxx) was involved and could not resolve the defects. The vehicle was returned with more active codes than at drop-off after 57 consecutive days in GMC custody. Two unresolved GMC safety recalls are open on this vehicle — l87 engine loss of propulsion (n252494003) and brake fluid leak detection failure — directly related to the reported defects. Warning codes have been present and documented since October 2023 beginning at 1,381 miles. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

2 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 12/07/2025

While driving in approximately 10°f weather after the vehicle had been parked outside overnight during snowfall in chicago, the vehicle displayed a warning that said “do not drive — maximum speed 43 mph. ” at the same time, the brake pedal became extremely hard and the vehicle had significantly reduced braking ability, requiring much longer stopping distance. This occurred without any brake warning lights beforehand. After the vehicle warmed up and was restarted, the message eventually cleared but then there was a new transmission warning and the check engine light went on. After driving for a long commute, eventually all warnings disappeared. I personally know another 2023 Yukon owner who experienced the exact same message and braking loss under similarly cold conditions, which suggests this may be a broader safety issue affecting this model year. Because this involved a sudden safety-system activation combined with temporary brake loss, there was a real risk of being unable to stop the vehicle safely or avoid a collision. My vehicle is within the year range of gm’s brake-system software recall n242447990 (ebcm brake fluid loss detection issue), and it is unclear whether my case is related, but the symptoms point to a potential systemic braking or electronic brake control problem in the 2023 Yukon. This issue warrants investigation due to the combination • hard brake pedal • reduced braking performance • speed-limiting safety warning • no prior diagnostic warning • occurrence in very cold temperatures a sudden loss of braking ability is a serious safety defect.

3 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 12/04/2025

Vehicle lost steering and brakes suddenly. Many errors on screen such brake system failure, abs failure, esc failure, traction control failure, maximum vehicle speed 43mph. Was able to slowly get home with no power assisted brakes. Did not drive it any more until it was taken to dealer 2 days later and the dealer could not replicate the errors. Dealer was able to see stored error codes; however, they could not verify any errors in any of the modules or computer. Dealer wants us to take it back and wife is scared to drive it due to no fixes or repairs. Loss of brakes and steering is not a situation to ask an owner to 'bring back when it happens again".

4 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 01/25/2025

Good afternoon. Our rental car we picked up from the denver International airport on [xxx] had numerous incidents of emergent braking at highway and non highway speeds which were reported to sixt ( car rental) and documented on the dates in which they occurred, [xxx] (7-8 occurrences ) and [xxx] (3 occurrences-2 after a car wash). On the day in which the first occurrences happened, the car rental company representative from sixt, 3way connected me with a mechanic from annex who advised washing the vehicle to ensure the sensors were clean. I did proceed to wash the vehicle on 1. 25. 25. This same company, annex automotive, then evaluated the vehicle on 1. 29. 25 after emergency breaking occurrences continued of which [xxx] was the worst. On [xxx] there were no vehicles in front of or behind us nor to the sides of us and the roads were completely clear. It was also dark out. Attached you will find evaluation with validation there is a mechanical concern with the vehicle. On [xxx] the extremely unsafe occurrence of emergent braking occurred with skidding tires and the doors locking and unlocking at the same time occurred. This vehicle was completely unsafe to drive. I, as well as my passengers/family, are very lucky the road conditions were moderate on [xxx] and clear on [xxx], or these emergency breaking issues could have caused a serious accident. There were a total of five of us in the vehicle when all of these occurred. I am from minnesota and have a Yukon xl so I am comfortable with this vehicle this was the scariest vehicle experience I have ever encountered. The company did tow the vehicle on 1. 29. 25. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

5 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 04/04/2023

I recently purchased my vehicle and after already transporting my family of 5, including my newborn child for several days, I noticed that my parking sensors were not working and I began receiving a message of my dash that parking assist, rear braking and auto park assist were unavailable. I reached out to gm around 4/4 informing them of the issue and they said they didn't have any recalls or retrofits for my vehicle and advised me to take it to a dealer's service deparment to be reviewed. After having an issue with simpson GMC of buena park of failing to even review my issue for a week, I took it to penske GMC of cerritos on 4/17 and they determined that during manufacturing of the vehicle, someone failed to connect the module that controls my parking sensors. They had to remove the front fascia of my vehicle to connect the module for everything to work correctly. This has forced me to call into question the quality control of gm vehicles and also concerns me that a car manufacturer would deliver a vehicle with such gross negligence where a consumer would not know the safety features they rely on to keep themselves and their family safe do not work. Gm customer service also never followed up on my issue even after calling and emailing them several times, which again calls into question how general motors operates their business.

6 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 02/05/2023

While driving in a gravel driveway, the window curtain airbags and the middle console airbags deployed, with no collision what so ever causing injury to the driver and should you have a child this could have been very damaging as the airbags came out in all the way back through the vehicle. This incident was inspected by police and fire as onstar called them as it detected a collision, and without the vehicle being moved from the location the officer said there is nothing that should have caused the airbags to deploy, there is absolutely nothing here in this driveway that could have possible caused airbag deployment, the running boards go in and out, even when on the interstate constantly, and when backing up or going forward at times, and especially in a gravel driveway your automatic breaks will stop you abruptly, so fast that your seat belt will lock up on your and thrust you forward and backwards. The rear entertainment system will screen at times when turning it on will stay black and you have to keep turning it on and off to get a screen to show. No warning lamps or messaging with any of these cases.
