1 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2026 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 04/18/2026

I was on the highway and had the vehicle on cruise control, the super cruise was not available the entire trip. Suddenly a warning came on saying that supper cruise was not available please take the wheel, the truck started slowing down drastically while I’m doing 70mph which is the speed limit. I put my foot on the brake to disengage the cruise control but that did not work. I had to push the cancel button on the wheel to take it off. This has happened to me twice while on the highway.

2 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2025 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 11/06/2025

The car was purchased on 8/15/2026. On November 6th 2026 with 3051 miles on all the gauges, electronic dashboard, gps , climate controls, heads up display failed while car was in driving. There was no way to tell what speed the car was going, the gas level, rpms, engine temperature, etc. Navigation failed, cruise control failed, I was unsure if the emergency braking system failed. The dealership responded there was over 27 error codes on the car computer. There was no way of knowing if the signal lights were working. There was no prior warning to this failure. The GMC service department at the dealership confirmed the failure and said it needed to replace the radio control module. It took 70 calendar days for a replacement module to be provided, and a new software patch was uploaded after several attempts. After the vehicle was repaired the dealership acknowledged that they have been seeing this problem. Gm has failed to provide any other assistance.

3 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2025 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 10/25/2025

While driving on a highway, the vehicle intermittently experienced a sudden loss of engine power during acceleration, accompanied by a flashing check engine warning light. The most serious event occurred while merging into traffic, when the vehicle failed to accelerate normally and briefly lost power, creating a risk of being struck by faster-moving vehicles. After pulling over and restarting the vehicle, normal acceleration temporarily returned, but the problem has recurred multiple times. The malfunction appears to be related to an engine misfire or powertrain fault because the check engine light flashes during the events and an obd scan has shown misfire-related diagnostic codes (random/multiple misfire and a cylinder-specific misfire). The condition is intermittent and typically occurs after the vehicle has been driven for approximately 10–45 minutes. The vehicle remains available for inspection. The vehicle has been presented to authorized service departments multiple times for diagnosis. The dealerships have reported that they were unable to duplicate the issue during road testing and no lasting repair has been completed. The manufacturer has been contacted and the vehicle has been inspected/diagnosed through authorized service channels, but the underlying cause has not been identified. The failure continues to occur intermittently and is a safety hazard because it affects acceleration in traffic. Incident list 10/25/2025 (~12:25 pm; ~3,108 miles) — while accelerating to merge onto a highway, the vehicle lost power and the check engine light flashed. The driver pulled over, shut the vehicle off, restarted, and the condition temporarily resolved, allowing the trip to continue. 10/27/2025–11/04/2025 — the same loss-of-power/misfire behavior recurred intermittently, typically lasting a few minutes before clearing. 11/05/2025 (~8:01 am; ~3,641 miles) — the check engine light flashed again and symptoms consistent with misfire/loss of power were present. 4 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2025 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 10/16/2025

Reduced engine power warning light came on at approximately 7600 miles on our new 2025 Yukon xl. Dealer inspected and ultimately decided the engine needs to be replaced due to crankshaft end play out of spec. This is a know gm issue. Incorrect thrust bearing was installed from the factory. Gm did not inform us of this issue. This could have resulted in catastrophic engine failure and cause to be stranded on the road. Not ideal when it is -20 degrees in my hometown. Dealer finally replaced engine then had lane departure unavailable and lane assist unavailable warning lights. Dealer claimed this was unrelated but all safety equipment worked when we dropped it off. Now it doesn’t.

5 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2025 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 09/08/2025

After less than 2000 miles, the onstar module failed, which removed the capability for emergency assistance, gps, advanced cruise control, etc. The part is on back order with no eta, and it appears, based on my research, that this is a common problem with gm vehicles for the past several years. Not having the emergency assistance phone system available is an extreme safety issue, as there are many areas of the us that do not have adequate cell coverage to get assistance in an emergency. It seems as though GMC does not care.

6 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2025 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 09/03/2025

In heads up display I was driving down at 74 mph in cruise control with nobody around or in front to cause the vehicle to suddenly come to a complete stop by its self, I had to hit the accelerator so we wouldn't get rear ended. Then when we got home I was backing in my driveway and the automatic brakes locked up stopping me from backing up.

7 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2025 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 08/08/2025

The console screen that control many vehicle functions will often not boot up when the vehicle is started. Screen crashes have also happened while underway. The screen will be unresponsive to both touch and physical controls. Systems unable to be controlled include safety cameras and sensors, climate control, navigation, gauges, infotainment and others. I have attached a diary of specific issues and work arounds attempted. The dealership and gm do not appear to have methods of fixing the issue at this time.

8 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2007 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 08/06/2025

In these vehicles between two thousand and five and two thousand and seven are constantly, such as my vehicle, low oil pressure and lower rod bearing failure constant is which what I have and due to wiring cruise control becomes no good because of computer failure. I cannot afford to fix the lower rod bearings and notice that you have already a recall for trucks, twenty twenty one and up. But this problem has been ongoing from gm since twenty twenty five or more. I also took my vehicle in for an airbag recall. And after that, I still have an airbag light on after they fix the airbag recall. 0.

9 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2024 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 08/01/2025

I had just backed the truck out of a parking space (while turning) and shifted the transmission into 'drive' with my foot pressing the brake pedal (not the gas pedal). When I took my foot off the brake pedal in order to transfer it to the gas pedal the vehicle suddenly accelerated forward without my foot ever pressing the gas pedal. The vehicle traveled forward about 20 feet before I was able to stop it by pressing the brake pedal. I am a retired general motors safety engineer and I know I was not pressing the gas (accelerator) pedal when this sudden acceleration event occurred. I believe this type of event occurred one other time while I was driving this vehicle. However, I am not as clear about the circumstances surrounding this previous event.

10 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2019 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 07/15/2025

At 70 mph the adaptive cruise control system applied the brakes hard enough to engage the abs system even though my lane of travel was clear. There was a car on the exit ramp to the right applying their brakes not in my path that I believe my vehicle picked up. There were several vehicles behind me and it almost caused an accident. There needs to be a way to disable the adaptive cruse on this vehicle for safety concerns. This has happened to me on multiple occasions and I reported it to the general motors hotline with absolutely no feedback on the issue.

11 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2024 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 12/23/2024

I have had several time that going down the highway at around 70 mph with the cruise control on. Know other cars or trucks around me, my car loses power, put on the brakes. If I press on the gas petal, the car will accelerate. Never a warning, scares the heck out of you. Fortunately when this happens I have never had a car or truck behind me. If there would be a car or truck behind me, this could cause a collision for sure. No warning lights comes on. I've told the GMC dealer twice about this. Twice I was told to make another service appointment to bring my Yukon back. I was told that no service tech was available to look at this at this time.

12 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2024 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 09/07/2024

1 adaptive cruise stopped me several times for no reason as there was nothing on the interstate and the weather was clear. This was very jarring at 80 miles per hour on the interstate created a hazardous and dangerous driving condition as cars were all around, almost was rear-ended. 1a adaptive cruise started all the sudden when I was stopped at an intersection almost caused a wreck, as soon as I took my foot off the break it speed up, but I was able to veer off and break several more times. The adaptive cruise should automatically go off when the brakes are applied. 1b cruise control will not activate sometimes (it is intermittent). 2 sensors do not work properly and do not go off to warn if I have driven to close to something, this has happened several times after I became aware of it and after front bumper was damaged. 2 garage door opener works sometimes, this means I have to get out unlock the house go shut the garage door and relock the house. . . Very unsettling. 3 android auto goes out continuously and will not reconnect even though the maps are still on my phone and everything is setup correctly. This also creates a hazardous condition when driving on the highway in unfamiliar areas causing me to miss turns and unable to navigate through traffic. 4 seat, adjustable setting does not work when entering the vehicle, only upon exit. 5 mirrors do not automatically fold when parking the vehicle as they did when I purchased the GMC. 6 rearview camera doesn't turn off automatically after reverse parking has to be done manually while driving. There are so many issues with this vehicle. I have serious concerns with the safety of this Yukon. I have filed a lemon law with gm on the Yukon. The gm representative lied in the abrtration stating there was a recall that would fix these issues. . . . The dealer was notified within a week of the purchase but had me wait until gm had a software fix. . . . They stated the software update should take care of all the issue.

13 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2023 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 02/16/2024

The vehicle was crawling to a stop in preparation to park in front of my garage door. When I move my hand across the steering wheel, my hand must have come in contact with the toggle/scroll for the “resume speed” function of the cruise control. The vehicle abruptly began accelerating towards my house. I was able to press the brake pedal to deactivate and stop the vehicle safely. I note that in the past week, perhaps even two, the cruise control has not been used. The vehicle is driven 2-4 trips a day.

14 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2023 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 01/08/2024

When driving in a parking lot, due to the design of the cruise control set switch, it is very easy to unintentionally set the adaptive cruise control. Specifically, when maneuvering in a parking lot at low speeds (below 5mph) and allowing the wheel to return to center by spinning in your hands, the cruise control switch which is a dial/lever that sticks out beyond the surface of the wheel, catches on your hand and engages the cruise. This sets the cruise control target speed to a 15 mph even if you are currently going slower than that. The vehicle then accelerates on its own at a fairly aggressive pace to get up to 15mph. You can of course hit the brakes and cancel the cruise control, but in a tight parking lot scenario this unintended acceleration could easily cause you to strike another vehicle, obstacle, or pedestrian. The cruise control on this vehicle is enabled by default on start up and the single action of hitting the set switch/dial engages the cruise and accelerates sharply even if you had not previously used cruise in that ignition cycle. This seems like a stupid design and dangerous, and would be very easy to fix with a software update to not let the cruise become enabled below 15mph. We did not have the dealer investigate because this appears to be the normal operation of the cruise control system. There were no unusual warning lamps. This has happened several times and also has happened to my wife while driving.

16 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2017 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 05/19/2023

Service brake assist light, needed to press brake pedal harder to stop, a ticking noise coming from engine compartment.

17 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2015 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 08/19/2021

The problem initially started around August 19th when my daughter was driving the SUV. It started suddenly flashing multiple service problems ex trailer brake service, park assist service and stability track service. It started flashing them over and over every second and the engine would rev up then slow down which continued even after she was able to pull over and get it into park. It was terrifying for her. We had the vehicle towed to GMC. GMC felt the electrical problems were due to the fuse box so they replaced the entire fuse box and changed all the fuses. Last week, my daughter again was driving home on the highway and the vehicle started doing the same warning but also displayed several more warnings and the car was lurching forward and slowing down over and over again despite trying to maintain a safe speed. She was close to home and thankfully made it safely home. I drove the car the next morning a few miles to see what was going on and it started doing the same thing with alerts, servicing cycling through the dashboard and the speed and rpm kept revving up and slowing down, I could not maintain a steady slow speed as it seemed like the car was braking every few seconds so it kept lurching forward out of control. We had the car again towed to the same GMC. This time GMC changed out all the battery cables going to and from the batter itself. My husband picked up the car a few days later after being told the problem had been fixed. Within a couple miles of leaving the dealership (and thankfully before getting on the highway) the car started again with the lurching, revving and continuous flashing of a multitude of service alerts/failures. GMC had the car towed back to the service center where it has remained as they run more diagnostic tests. We are concerned that there is a serious electrical problem that they have been unable to figure out on this vehicle which has put each of us at serious safety risk when trying to drive it.

18 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2017 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 02/15/2018

Adaptive cruise control system is not properly designed to recognize vehicles that are adjacent to the traveling lane and not directly in front of the vehicle. When traveling on the interstate with adaptive cruise engaged, we came around a bend in the road approaching an entrance ramp. There was a slow moving vehicle on the entrance ramp which was apparently identified by the adaptive cruise system as being in front of our vehicle in the same lane. The adaptive cruise caused our vehicle to brake violently while still in the bend in the road, which in turn caused us to swerve into the next lane where there was a car traveling adjacent, but just behind us. This was a very unexpected series of events, and could have resulted in catastrophic consequences had the adjacent car been any closer at the time. This is a major flaw in the adaptive cruise system. And it is compounded by the fact that the adaptive cruise system cannot be switched over to a manually controlled more traditional cruise system. This is a severe design flaw with the GMC Yukon. Some of this could be remedied by issuing a firmware update that allows the driver to disengage the adaptive cruise and switch to a more traditional cruise control method. But GMC has no interest in providing this update, even with multiple message board threads talking about the dangers of the adaptive cruise control.
