1 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2023 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 03/11/2026

The onstar module of my 2023 GMC Yukon has failed. This is a wide spread issue with recent model GMC's. There are thousands of reports of the same thing happenings. When an onstar module fails, the vehicle loses its safety features. No lane departure, no collision detection or pre-collision braking, no critical system checks. Even the gas and mileage components stop working correctly.

3 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2024 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 11/01/2025

This is a post-remedy failure of recall 25v-274 (GMC 6. 2l l87 engine). Following a full engine replacement performed by the dealer under this safety recall, the vehicle has suffered a catastrophic electrical compromise. The vehicle is currently throwing codes p2534 (low ignition voltage) and u3018 (bcm communication). Safety hazards: the vehicle experiences sudden loss of power, engine stalling at highway speeds, and total failure of the exterior turn signals (hyper-flash). The ac system has been disabled by the body control module due to low voltage, creating a hazard in high temperatures. This vehicle fits the exact profile of NHTSA recall query rq26-001 and engineering analysis ea25-007. The manufacturer's remedy for the safety recall has failed to restore the vehicle to a safe operating condition, and the dealership is attempting to charge diagnostic fees to investigate their own defective recall workmanship.

4 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2025 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 10/25/2025

While driving on a highway, the vehicle intermittently experienced a sudden loss of engine power during acceleration, accompanied by a flashing check engine warning light. The most serious event occurred while merging into traffic, when the vehicle failed to accelerate normally and briefly lost power, creating a risk of being struck by faster-moving vehicles. After pulling over and restarting the vehicle, normal acceleration temporarily returned, but the problem has recurred multiple times. The malfunction appears to be related to an engine misfire or powertrain fault because the check engine light flashes during the events and an obd scan has shown misfire-related diagnostic codes (random/multiple misfire and a cylinder-specific misfire). The condition is intermittent and typically occurs after the vehicle has been driven for approximately 10–45 minutes. The vehicle remains available for inspection. The vehicle has been presented to authorized service departments multiple times for diagnosis. The dealerships have reported that they were unable to duplicate the issue during road testing and no lasting repair has been completed. The manufacturer has been contacted and the vehicle has been inspected/diagnosed through authorized service channels, but the underlying cause has not been identified. The failure continues to occur intermittently and is a safety hazard because it affects acceleration in traffic. Incident list 10/25/2025 (~12:25 pm; ~3,108 miles) — while accelerating to merge onto a highway, the vehicle lost power and the check engine light flashed. The driver pulled over, shut the vehicle off, restarted, and the condition temporarily resolved, allowing the trip to continue. 10/27/2025–11/04/2025 — the same loss-of-power/misfire behavior recurred intermittently, typically lasting a few minutes before clearing. 11/05/2025 (~8:01 am; ~3,641 miles) — the check engine light flashed again and symptoms consistent with misfire/loss of power were present. 5 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2016 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 10/03/2025

The led left turn signal and blind spot detection ( safety feature) on the left outside rear view mirror suddenly stopped working. The is a TSB for warranty for 2016-2018 gm Yukon (#10-08-64-002d) and it states that the bulletin has been revised to include 2016-2018 year models for this defect. I am starting this claim because I am told by gm that my VIN is not covered under this warranty, yet I am experiencing the same issue stated in the TSB listed above.

6 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2021 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 01/22/2025

My vehicle has software that controls the rear gate, cameras, and my safety features for blind spots—seat buzzer to warn of collisions and voice activated phone system. I recently had a safety recall involving my back wheels locking up during driving. I had the recall done by power Chevrolet and it affected my cameras, which I noticed were longer accurate immediately after leaving the dealership. My seat buzzer kept buzzing warning me of a collision due to the cameras inaccuracy. I am unsure if it affected my blind spot warning but my car was unsafe to drive as the safety features fill in many blind spots in this big vehicle. Additionally I had been having issues with my back gate opening when it should not resulting in two stops to close it— one in costco and one on [xxx] outside of philomath, oregon. These are safety issues. To get the software issues resolved, it cost an additional $210 for the updates and my back gate is still not fixed and no solution is offered. My fear is that people will be unaware their cameras or safety features are no longer properly calibrated and hit something or even worse, be unable to pay for software updates to make these features functional resulting in more crashes. I was unaware of the software updates ( I did all updates GMC pushed) needed to be done and this just continues on with more software updates to be released requiring future payments. I bought this car new and this was not disclosed or even discussed. GMC can push down updates that make other updates necessary and be an unending source of revenue for them. Oregon just passed a right to repair law but cars are exempt. This will result in unsafe vehicles on the road. My oil change cost me $350 with $210 the software updates. What were these safety related updates not done as recalls? information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

7 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2022 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 10/28/2024

The onstar system failed and will not work. This affects the ability to make emergency calls, report/determine our vehicle’s location, the vehicle’s navigation system, and some of the blind spot monitors are also affected, though intermittently. The issue first happened two days after the dealer fixed a recall with the serial data gateway module. We called onstar and they were able to resend a signal and it was fixed temporarily. Two days later it happened again and the amount of electronics affected in the vehicle is astounding. We called onstar again and went through all the troubleshooting and they say they can’t fix it, it’s a dealer problem now and the module needs to be replaced. The dealer states this is a common problem but will not cover it under warranty. In the beginning there was no immediate indication that systems had failed other than certain electronics not working. However after a couple weeks there is now a check engine light associated with all the electronics that are failing due to this defective telecom module. In a 2 year old vehicle, this is highly frustrating and poses safety concerns for my family.

8 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2023 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 04/01/2023

Brand new vehicle, at about 5k miles the backup camera went out in April 2023. It is not decemeber of 2023 and I have no had any sort of resolution. I have 3 children ages 2, 4 and 5 and it is very concerning for me and my wife to not have a backup camera especially at night.

10 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2016 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 05/29/2022

The SUV starts to brake on its own while driving. It came to a complete stop once and almost caused an accident.

11 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2017 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 05/20/2022

I was driving and all my sensors came on stating they needed service including front camera, blind spot notification, lane departure, emergency braking etc. Upon parking I exited my vehicle and walked around the rear of my car to find multiple wires hanging down burned from my exhaust. I took my vehicle to an automotive repair shop and not the dealer since it was no longer under warranty. They said they had never seen anything like it. It appeared the harness that holds the sensor module/wires disconnected from the car. It appears to be held in place with some sort of industrial glue. When it failed it was hanging in front of the exhaust and melted all of them. This disabled all of these sensors. I now have to pay for a new harness and to replace all of these sensors. In researching online it appears water intrusion has caused issues in some models and caused these harnesses to fail. I’m wondering if this is the cause even though this model isn’t part of the recall.

12 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2021 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 04/20/2022

The vehicle had a total failure of its rear safety package which includes blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, rear parking sensors and rear safety alert. The warning illuminated on the dash that all of these functions were offline and service was needed. We took the Yukon to a gm dealer and they replaced a computer and had a hard time getting it to program. This failure also affected the hvac system in the car, with the fan staying on high. After 23 days of service, the dealer thought they fixed it. After two weeks of having the vehicle back the same alert came on 5-6 times in the same day, with another safety package failure. Now the alert doesn’t come on but none of those safety features work, they are all offline. It is bad enough driving a 20’ long vehicle without the safety package working, but now it is worse in that the car doesn’t alert you to the fact it isn’t working and you might not remember that it is defective. This could cause a collision on the highway or result in the driver backing into something or someone, relying on this technology.

13 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2021 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 03/10/2022

My blind spot warning light and signal doesnt work all the time. For example, if a pass a car, or a car passes me at a speed of more than 5 miles per hour, there is no notification from the blind spot warning light in the mirror, or an audalble signale either. I have taken the car to the GMC dealership 3 times and I was told that is normal, and nothing is wrong. I own other GMC models and I have never experianced this intermitant issue.

14 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2021 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 01/13/2021

I've owned over a dozen gm trucks over the last 20+ years and this model is the worst ever! my complaint: gm took away the turn signal lights on the side mirrors. The turn signal indicators on the dash are too small and located with many other lights/indicators, so they cannot be seen quickly nor 'easily' and can't be heard under normal traffic conditions. This creates an incredibly dangerous situation with driver distraction trying to see if a turn signal has been activated and increases the risk of vehicles next to the truck not expecting a lane change if they are ahead of the tail lights. Numerous times over the past few weeks I've owned this vehicle, I've almost run into adjacent vehicles I couldn't 'see' because the blind spot warning system does not detect vehicles well enough to avoid turning into them and also because I was distracted trying to see the turn indicator on the dashboard, ook into the side mirrors and watch my distance to cars in front of me. The turn signal indicators on the mirrors on the prior model significantly reduced driver distractions and increased safety to the driver, passengers and adjacent vehicles. Gm must be held accountable for removing safety features! they must be forced to replace the mirrors with ones that have turn signal indicators in them like on prior model years. If it's not a safety issue, why did they have the indicators in the mirrors before?? removing the mirror signal lights was obviously a sick way for gm to save a few dollars with intended disregard for the safety of it's owners, passengers and everyone else on the road. These problems exist when the vehicle is stopped (blind spot issues), turning, changing lanes and moving on every type of roadway, but especially at highway speeds where hundreds of feet are traveled in only a few seconds, and distractions become even more unsafe and dangerous to everyone.
