Interior Lighting problem #1

On several occasions between 2/05/11 and 3/8/11 while driving at night, with headlamps in auto mode, idling at a full stop, the headlights and dash lighting shut off completely and will not reset in auto mode. Gm repaired by replacing a ambient light sensor on 3/9/11. This did not fix the problem. Problem only occurs while stopped/idling at night (does not occur at normal driving speeds). Headlights/dash lighting work correctly in manual mode.

Interior Lighting problem #2

The control panel on my GMC is freezing, the speedometer is freezing so I cannot tell how fast the car is going. The oil gauge has frozen and the dashboard keeps changing it light intensity from very bright to going dark when I'm driving sometimes occurring on poorly lite streets and parkways.

Interior Lighting problem #3

2005 GMC Yukon xl, dashboard dimmer switch/interior light switch; does not illuminate in the dark. This presents a significant safety issue in that it does not allow the driver to adjust the dashboard lighting level or turn on interior lights in the dark. There have been repeated attempts to remedy the situation by the dealer, the conclusion of the dealer now is that illumination is not allowed by the way the switch was engineered.

Interior Lighting problem #4

Dash lights don't work by heater lights. Needs a new cluster and control replaced.

Interior Lighting problem #5

: the contact stated that the vehicle's lighting for the instrument panel was not sufficient enough to see the gauges at night and the steering wheel was bent to the left. The service dealer inspected the vehicle who agreed both problems were valid, but could not offer a solution. The manufacturer was notified and offered no solution. Updated 08/25/06.

Interior Lighting problem #6

'03 Yukon denali - while driving in complete darkness while making a left sweeping turn every visible interior light turns of and on for 1-2 sec. This includes headlights. This is becoming very dangerous and distracting to other drivers. The dealer blames it on a loose headlight switch. They replaced it. That did not solve the problem. On another night trip, the same event occured again. The dealer replaced the altenator. It still does it. The dealer says they noe have no idea. I really need help. I'm concerned about complete loss while in darkness and subsequently hitting a divider.

Interior Lighting problem #7

Some gm products, including my 2001 GMC Yukon, do not come with a door ajar warning system. Gm has written, indicating that there is a "standard" door ajar warning system when there is not. Gm has made an apparent misrepresentation, fooling customers into believing that the courtesy dome light system (which turns on when the door is open) is a door ajar warning system. I have seen other internet complaints regarding this system in gm products. It poses a grave danger to occupants. Is there legislation regarding a door ajar warning system and can anything be done about gm? below are examples of what can or has occurred. A driver enters a Yukon along with three passengers. The dome light will turn on no matter what at this juncture because the doors were opened, so there would not be cause for alarm as doors close. One of the three passengers does not close his/her door completely. The driver puts the key in the ignition and starts the vehicle. The light turns off. No door ajar warning. Another example: I opened a rear passenger door of my Yukon and the driver's door. The dome light turned on, because it is apparently a standard feature for the light to come on when a door is opened for people to get in and out. I then pushed the passenger door towards it's housing just enough for metal to touch metal (or the apparent sensor), but still "open" in that, without engaging the door opening mechanism, I could still pull it open. I then entered the vehicle through the driver's side door and closed it (only the driver's side door). I put the key in the ignition and the dome light turned of. Anyone could have pushed or pulled the passenger door open. Example: I began backing out of my house one day when one of the doors began to open. No door ajar light was on. Had this occurred on the open road, a serious accident could have resulted. The doors on this SUV are already heavy, and it is very easy to have a door ajar.

Interior Lighting problem #8

While transmission was placed in park and vehicle was turned off, consumer's child moved transmission from park into drive without stepping on gas pedal or brake pedal. Contacted dealer. The consumer stated that when the ignition key is "c" position, the vehicle can be shifted out of park. There is no door ajar system for passenger doors.
