36 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2007 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 09/15/2010

Door handle on the driver's door separated from the outside door handle/latch assembly. The entire assembly for both driver's side doors were separating from the vehicle doors. When the driver's door handle completely came off the vehicle it could be reinserted, however it was not connected to the latch to function as a means to enter the vehicle. Pulling on the handle to open the door was not functional. The door handles will first begin to separate from the door and then eventually the handle/latch functionality is lost. I had to pay the GMC dealership $401. 44 to replace the entire outside handle assemblies for both of the driver's side doors.

37 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2008 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 08/30/2010

First owner of a 2009 GMC Yukon has had 3 door lock failures, which not only qualifies under the lemon law, but also poses a major safety issue. The first door lock failed. GMC does not consider door locks as a warranty item or safety item so I was forced to pay for a replacement. The next week, another door lock failed. The dealer did not charge for the replacement. Now, a third door lock failed only 10 days after the last repair. Why is this a safety concern? my child was able to open the door while all doors were locked. Due to e failure, the door was unlocked unknowingly. My child and any child or person risks falling out of a moving vehicle. Secondly, should a car accident occur, unlocked doors could result in a door opening and ejecting the passenger leading to death. There is a flood of complaints on the web for this issue. GMC has not owned up to it, but due to the major safety issues, this should be investigated and faulty actuators and the known pattern failure in wiring harness causing the failures should be addressed as an immediate recall.

38 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2008 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 08/12/2010

I have a 2008 GMC Yukon xl - I have had the drivers door and the back door on the drivers side's lock fixed while under warranty, now the passenger side front and back door locks are not working. The only way to unlock these doors is to crawl into the vehicle and manually lock and unlock them.

39 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2008 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 08/04/2010

2008 denali xl - door lock failures. 1st repair was under warranty @ 34000 miles, replaced left rear door lock. 2nd repair was 8/4/10 for left front and right rear door locks replaced for $487. 00 @ 40,000 miles (over warranty). Dealer explained that many 2008 & 2009 GMC denalis have been coming in with door lock failures. This is a safety hazard as you cannot unlock the rear doors from the outside when a child is in a carseat for instance. Should be a recall.

40 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2007 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 08/01/2010

Chrome peeling of on interior door handles that creates sharp edges that cut fingers. Really have to be careful in order to not cut fingers when exiting auto.

41 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2007 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 07/20/2010

The chrome is peeling off the interior passenger side door handle on my 2007 GMC Yukon denali xl. Two different passengers have had their fingers sliced open. Also, the back drivers side door hung the front door when it was being opened and bent front door.

42 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2007 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 06/28/2010

We own a 2007 GMC Yukon denali. My 8 year old son's thumb on his right had was trapped in the hinge on the rear passenger door, as he was exiting the vehicle. While he was exiting the front passenger seat, as my other children opened of the rear passenger door his thumb was nearly completely severed by the hinge. The hinge is completely exposed, there is no safety mechanism, cover, or preventive feature. The hinge combined with the weight of the door, moves the hinge opening from roughly and inch opening to a zero clearance area. The hinges cross over top of each other with the two edge planes of each part acting similar to a bolt cutter or tree limb cutter. One of the edge planes has a relief cut which acts as a trap as very little movement of the door eliminates the option of pulling back a finger or small hand. If you were to sit in the front passenger seat, open door and exit as one normally would, simply dropping your arm straight down puts your hand(fingers) at risk. The only reason his thumb was not severed is because the children exiting the car stopped opening the door and closed it so he could take his thumb out. Had the door opened all the way his thumb would have been lost. As it remains we spent several hours in an emergency room, he had to have 4 stitches and an xray. Because it was on the joint no bones where broken. A terrible accident that very easily could have been prevented.

43 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2008 GMC Yukon

44 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2008 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 06/18/2010

Door lock failure. Power locks on 3 out of 4 doors have failed within the first 30,000 miles, under normal usage. Over $600 to repair two doors, but failed again. This is a potential safety hazard as these doors cannot be unlocked and then opened from the outside.

45 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2007 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 05/27/2010

2007 denali with 22,000 miles had a liftgate failure. After a $78. 00 diagnosis at local dealer the repair estimate was $450. 00. According to gm customer service personnel the repair is not under warranty, and further more because we purchased it used it won't be eligible for any assistance from gm either. While evaluating problem I noticed there is no egress possible from inside while problem exists. This seems like a very dangerous condition because an emergency that disables typical egress through doors would leave the rear liftgate as only choice to escape from fire or water for instance.

The back glass on our 2004 GMC Yukon xl broke at the right hinge at first. We hardly ever opened the back glass, so that shouldn't have been an issue. Today the left back glass hinge broke. I have searched for a recall on this, however there isn't one. GMC is aware and acknowledges the problem but isn't willing to repair the issue.
